We stopped by Ninja Sushi at Windward Mall (next to Pretzel Maker) during lunchtime on Sunday while visiting the mall for the Sunday Farmers Market. It was somewhat busy, with a few people waiting for their orders, but my family and I decided to dine in. We ordered the Crunchy Maki, Spam Maki, and the Spicy Ahi Salad. The Crunchy Maki had cucumber, imitation crab, seaweed, and shrimp tempura, all coated with crunchy tenkasu for a nice texture. This was topped off with Unagi sauce. Yum! The Spam Maki was simple but satisfying with spam and seaweed. Also topped using Unagi sauce. The Spicy Ahi Salad came with spring mix and wonton chips topped with spicy ahi, along with two sauces on the side (wasabi mayo and sweet chili), which added good flavor. The food has remained consistent over the years, although the portion sizes seem to have gotten a bit smaller, particularly the salad. The restaurant itself is spacious with about 12 tables available for dining in. They also offer a good selection of bottled drinks and fountain drinks. The menu has a nice variety of sushi, udon, donburi, and salads, so there's something for everyone. One thing we appreciate about this location is that it's always kept very clean. Service is usually quick as well, as long as you avoid the peak rush times. Overall, it's a reliable spot for a quick sushi meal when you're at Windward Mall. read more

Very average and underwhelming sushi located in windward mall. Should have known not to eat sushi located in a busy mall but I gave in. The Superman Maki-Mono is pretty good! The food came out pretty fast and there's a nice place to sit at. The roll was $13.49 before tax, which is not bad for sushi. I just wished the portions were bigger, I had to eat a second meal after coming here! read more

My daughter and I come here as often as we can because we love the spicy ahi donburi. The fish is fresh and shredded, the sauce is just the right amount (not too little and not too much), and the rice had a great "bite" to it plus it's just a little bit sweet. The ume cucumber hosomaki and adds a lovely savory, salty note to our meal. Props to the owner at this location. We've eaten the same thing at a different ninja sushi and they came up short. When we're deciding where to shop, this place has been a deciding factor for us. We come to Windward Mall to eat our favorite donburi and maybe do a little shopping as well. read more

I'm just glad that they serve scallop nigiri again. Also they have a scallop dynamite roll. What I do not appreciate is the high prices for the nigiri bentos. With those prices, thise bentos should at least have ika, ikura, tobikko and/or uni. It is a nice casual sushi spot and it's very spacious which is nice. Also it's right across from the restrooms, very convenient. Air conditioning is always a plus. Will definitely be back for my scallop cravings. read more

Stopped by for lunch after attending church. Lots to see and do at Windward Mall. Farmer's Marker is happening so lots of fresh produce and food treats. As for lunch sushi is always a favorite. The unagi bento was very delicious. I love unagi. My daughter enjoyed the Superman. We're both very satisfied. The atmosphere at Ninja Sushi is simple and quiet. The service is excellent. I love Ninja Sushi, but definitely was not happy with the experience we received at the Windward Mall location. We ordered a spicy ahi salad and scallop dynamite, two items that we consistently order at other locations. The prices went up since the last time we've ate at a Ninja Sushi. The spicy ahi salad was $11.49 and the scallop dynamite was $11.99. The young boy working as the cashier spoke in a monotone voice and was not friendly. When we received our order, we were disappointed with the food preparation and how much they gave for the price. The spicy ahi in the salad was definitely a smaller quantity than the other Ninja Sushi locations we've eaten at. The scallop dynamite was also not up to par with the amount of scallops on the sushi and how little it was torched. We also asked for no green onions, which was not fulfilled. The scallop was hardly torched at all, which made the consistency mushier to say the least. They also added the same spicy sauce they used on the spicy ahi salad onto the scallop dynamite. We definitely don't usually have the spicy sauce on that specific roll. The worst was asking the cashier for a water cup to get water from the soda machine. The boy said they do not provide water cups. We saw later that a customer who ordered after us asked for a cup of water and he provided a small red cup to him to fill at the soda machine. For us to pay the amount we pay for the sushi at Ninja Sushi, I definitely expect better service than what we went through. read more

This place has roaches! There were 2 roaches cruising on the counter where the cook puts the food when it's done. And the young worker working the register was on instagram not even giving a crap! Yes - it's located on the upper level of the mall in the middle of the corridor where the credit union, restrooms, and Pho Factory is. That's why I keep forgetting to dine here... because it's upstairs. This time, I remembered and I wondered why I don't come here more often. The parking is free and plentiful. The dining area is air conditioned and pleasant. The service is efficient and helpful. The food is fresh, tasty, and beautiful! I got the Chirashi bowl and the T-Dragon/Tiger roll. I liked the ikura the best in the Chirashi Bowl and the shrimp tempura in the two half rolls. Yummy! There are actually nine Ninja Sushi locations on Oahu, so go to the one closest to you! Excellent in the go sushi at a decent price. It's a little on the pricey side, but hey it's sushi right! Couple of the things we like and usually order. Crab salad nigiri is always a regular for us. It's not that imitation crab you find in some places. Also the hamachi nigiri is great. The dynamite roll is also a plus. Lots of flavors going on there. The bentos are also priced reasonably. I've tried the hamachi bento. Comes with 3 pieces of hamachi, 2 pieces of Ahi and a spicy hamachi roll. Pretty filling. Wife loves the Udon, preferably Ebi. This Ninja Sushi location in the mall is the perfect blend of quality food, good value, and solid customer service. They don't overpromise on their food times when you call in (typically overestimate the time). The owner is the most friendly man. I've been going there for years and every time he sees our "custom order," he makes it a point to say hello. His food is priced fairly compared to the other sushi locations. We aren't expecting high-end sushi rolls, but they are tasty and filling. The udon is a family favorite along with the spicy ahi bowls. But the customer service keeps us coming back. Note that not all Ninja Sushi locations are the same. They are franchised. Therefore, your experience will vary significantly depending on the location you choose. There's two locations in Kaneohe. I think the chef is too old and can't keep up. They don't even apologize for forgetting your order. We waited 40 minutes for the chef to make this 3 items. I've noticed that everywhere I have been lately, I've seen a Ninja Sushi. It's getting quite popular on the island. It's understandable since their Maki-Mono rolls are so different from other sushi joints. They have their own unique flavors. My favorite is the Superman. The ahi inside the roll is tartare style. On top of the roll is finely slice ahi, topped with a teri sauce and fried potatoes strings. It might sound a little strange, but it's very good. The fish is smooth and fresh. The Spicy Ahi Inari was ok. It wasn't too spicy and I liked the sauce. They need to put a little more fish on it. I was getting just mouthfuls of rice. The prices at Ninja Sushi are a bit higher than comparable spots. However, if you go to the Windward Mall location, they have a frequent dining program. They give you a stamp for every $5 that you spend. Once you get 20 stamps they'll give you $5 off. This Ninja Sushi has a huge dining area. It was also immaculately clean. read more

Ninja sushi is always a good place to get quick quality sushi for decent prices. I used to always get the Superman but the wontons strips or whatever they put on it, isn't always crispy. I now get the tornado which so far, is a better pick than the Superman. (Well at least for me) The workers however, is interesting. The manager always seems very unfriendly and uninterested in his customers. While the staff is always a mixed of unhappy or friendly workers. But never the same workers. I always see new faces everytime I go. But despite the workers, the food is what I came for and what keeps me coming back. read more

The food is usually excellent! However, I was EXTREMELY disappointed in their customer care. I just spent $65, plus an additional tip (for carry out), on lunch for just 3 ppl. That is not cheap. In that lunch was a side of edamame and a side of gyoza. The edamame had no seasoning and the gyoza came with NO dipping sauce. When I asked for a dipping sauce, I was told I had to ring up for an additional $1.50 each. 1) that is way too expensive for a 1 oz cup of sweet chili sauce. 2) I just spent $65 dollars at your establishment; give me a sauce to dip the food in; that should be courtesy! I am very disappointed. I refused to pay for a sauce and I don't think I will come back again. I was a regular customer, but I feel taken advantage of (they are trying price to gauge me), and unappreciated as a customer; so it is the principle of the matter. Ninja Sushi is on the second floor down the hallway of Hawaii Escape Challenge. The establishment is right across of a massage parlor. I entered Ninja Sushi with three of my friends. One of them was craving sushi from morning time. We each placed our order separately. The sushi bar accepts cash and credit cards as payments. I had ordered the ume cucumber hoso maki and the shinko hoso maki along with a small drink. There's a fountain machine with eight different flavors. Customers are able to refill their cup as long as they are eating within the dining area. The dining area is pretty big. There were couple booth seatings, square tables with chairs, round tables with chairs, and cushion benches along the left hand side of the entrance as well as by the divider. The sushi establishment had a flat screen television mounted on the wall near the fountain machine. The Minions movie was being played while my friends and I were eating our sushi grinds. The food joint was very relaxing since it was not as busy as the food court or the bigger restaurants. If I am ever at Windward Mall and have a craving for sushi at least I know where to go. 82/200 read more
