Whenever I drove past Rai Rai, I would think to myself, "Man, I gotta try that place.". For a long time now, conversations on the topic of, "where to get good noodles on the windward side" often included this cute little spot that sits on the edge of Kailua-town . I stopped by on an early afternoon, and noted that only one table was left available--hinting that the place was popular. A steady stream of people picking up "to-go" orders added further evidence that the place might have something good. Proof is in the pudding--or in this case, "in the broth"--and the noodles--and the toppings. I was not disappointed as my Chashu bowl arrived a few minutes later, all-hot and steamy and full of flavor. The noodles were firm, and when they were mixed with the vegetables, and thin slices of pork, and the slightly creamy and well-seasoned broth, the combination was exceptionally pleasing. The decor is simple and pragmatic. There are approximately 10 tables, and they were refilled pretty quickly, as diners finished their meals and moved on. My server was kinda quiet at first, but once I started raving about their ramen, she cracked a smile and, like a lotus blossom opened up and seemed to be more comfortable chit-chatting with me. I am no expert on what makes good ramen (aside from the feedback my tastebuds give me) but will share that I (and my tastebuds) are glad that I gave the place a go. Good stuff!

Noodles were on point and the chicken katsu curry was also on point. The katsu was very light and crispy. Very well made. The price was fair and the service was fast. I left satisfied and happy...which is basically all you need these days.

The food is genuinely so delicious and good quality. It is inexpensive and the service is very quick. The workers are always friendly. It's got a nice small hole in the wall feeling to the restraunt itself and I would keep coming back here.

Quick service using mobile app at the table and the service was fast too. The spicy ramen had good flavor but didn't have the kick I expected and there wasn't a whole lot of bamboo with only half an egg. The meat wasn't bad but I can't say it was quality meat. For the price, I expected a higher quality ramen but it was filling and hit the spot. Parking is extremely limited in a high traffic area. Glad I tried it but will probably go to somewhere a little cheaper

SO YUMMY! Wow, this might be the best ramen I've had. The texture of the noodles is perfect, pork melted in my mouth and broth is so flavorful. I didn't get a picture of my gyoza, but they were wonderful! Especially dipped in the hot oil. Super clean inside and friendly service. I will make it a point to return every time I'm in Kailua.

We made a phone order 7/3/24 around 5pm. Gf got the fried noodles and I got fried rice. My fried rice had so many egg shells in it I couldn't eat it and my gf got very sick after eating. Quality of food has steadily gone down hill. Sad because we used to love this place!

Had an early lunch here after my girlfriends massage. They just opened a little before 11am. The lady greeted us as we sat to decide what we weee gonna have. We asked for recommendation and suggested their hakata tonkotsu ramen and the house ramen. The hakata tonkotsu ramen was not bad, and the broth was on the lighter side. The house ramen was I little more flavorful in a shoyu kind of broth. Of course, you cannot do ramen without gyoza, and theirs were super yummy. If you are in Kailua, and looking for a nice ramen place, give it a try. (I am basing this review in comparison with other ramen places we frequent) so... that being said, this place is not bad for the money.

    Tammy L.

I ordered the vegetable ramen. I liked the vast amount of vegetables they give you (broccoli, bok choy, carrots, coin, green onion, and mushrooms). Everything was fresh but the mushrooms tasted like from a can. Noodles were perfectly cooked and chewy. Not sure if the broth was vegetarian so may want to ask them. Service was quick. Place was cozy and quickly filled up with patrons.

Still a favorite for ramen on Windward side. Tan Tan Ramen flavors are thru the roof. Chicken Katsu Curry is hearty and filling. Don't forget to get a six pack of Gyoza! Yum! Family owned business with fast service and fresh ingredients.

The house ramen is excellent. It was served promptly and happily. The interior is basic, but one goes for the food, not the decor.

It's never been too busy when I've gone since it's always midday, after lunch and before dinner. The service is quick and I've never had to wait long at all to get my food. There were fly traps hanging from the ceiling, which was quite unpleasant to see while trying to eat. Strangely, the staff was mopping the floor right next to occupied tables during a busy late-night rush. The menus also smelled like a dirty bathroom; I couldn't hold mine for more than a minute without gagging. While the staff was quick and the food came out fast, the kitchen was disorganized. They forgot our miso soup and brought out edamame instead of the menma (bamboo shoots) we ordered. We had the gomoku ramen, spicy beef ramen, gyoza, lemon tea, a side of menma, and shrimp tempura udon. The gyoza and lemon tea were delicious, but they couldn't outweigh the negatives. According to my family, two out of the three soups tasted like dish soap. We were too exhausted after work to send them back, but it was honestly gross. To top it off, the single-stall unisex bathroom had that same foul odor. I wouldn't recommend Daiichi Ramen. Serving 'dish soap soup' is unacceptable in food service. You're better off heading to the nearby Burger King or Safeway for late-night eats.

So of course, I was in the area and I am a biiiig ramen lover, I had to try this location. I've tried an abundant of ramen from Noods, but my go-to is their vegan ramens because they have so many options and I could use a little vegan meal in my life every now and then (because of my acne). The ambiance may not be a restaurant, but it's ramen, you can't be asking for much, just good food and good place to enjoy. Since this location is in a food court, it's gotta have fast service, which it did. Service is also a lot more simple than the restaurant because over here you order in one area and then you have to pick it up at the other end when it's ready. The food court provides ample seating, but I suggest grabbing a seat first before ordering so that you get a table near the ramen bar and you don't have to walk far with a large bowl of ramen across a busy food court. Overall, the ramen(s) I've eaten here have lived up to the standard I expect from Noods, which is great. This means you don't have to go all the way to Kaimuki to get some good, quality ramen.

The second problem was the A/C, which was on Full Blast and it was freeezing inside. The issue is that there's outdoor seating and the waiter had to open and close the entrance/exit door constantly and this caused the temp to drop and the A/C auto kicks in with full blast to re-cool. They should have a service exit/entrance from the kitchen but that's not possible I don't think.

The staff were very courteous and efficient. They have 10 different broths to choose from. My hubby suggested the Canh Chua $10.99. It's a Vietnamese sweet and sour soup made from chicken broth. It's sweetened with pineapple, tomato and taro stem; then garnished with spring onion and Thai basil. Most of the noodles and veggies plates are $4.89. I wasn't sure if I was going to like the broth. Holy smokes, I eat a lot of hot pot and it was one of the best I've ever tasted. I couldn't stop drinking it. My hubby told me to stop or we weren't going to have any broth to cook the food in. Luckily, the staff told us if we needed more broth that it was refillable. We got ribeye, brisket, shrimp, udon, pumpkin, quail eggs and tobiko ball. Everything was fresh. The shrimp with head was huge. My favorite was the tobiko ball. I just love that, tobiko in fishcake. The sauce bar was good. Any outstanding hot pot place needs a good sauce bar. The first sauce I mixed was black bean with house special and cilantro. The second was miso with ginger and sesame with cilantro. They were both delicious. I don't think you can go wrong mixing any of the sauces. We got a stamp card after we paid our bill.
