If I had read the reviews before, I wouldn't have ordered from here. I ordered the sesame chicken before reading the reviews. I haven't been here in at least 3 years, so I didn't know that other reviews had mentioned hair in the food. Anyways, I prayed over my food several times (thank you Jesus), then inspected it thoroughly. With that being said, it tasted okay, not great, and for the price, it's not worth it. Also, the restaurant was EMPTY at 6:30 pm, like 3 people dining-in, which should tell you that something is not right. However, there were 100 people at Cici's next door. I don't want to give this place a bad rating, but there are several reviews about hair being in the food on Yelp and Google. The food is decent but you get more veggies than protein. Like A LOT of veggies and they aren't cut small. No silverware so it's a bit difficult to eat with a flimsy small plastic fork. We mentioned this to them and they said the carrots are just for decoration....what!? The broccoli wasn't soft and my mom couldn't cut them (no knives) so half her plate of broccoli. My family and I have been going to this place since I was young. Their food is always consistent and cooked well. I always place an order over the phone. Their service is great and always let me know what time to pick up the food. They make the food really quickly and have pick up times between 15-30 minutes. They serve large portions and the food is piping hot which I love my favorite dish is the chicken lo mein absolutely delicious so if you happen to be there, ask for the chicken lo mein they have everything it's not great looking in the inside it's like a little fast food sort a joint when you walk in but the food is good. The people are really nice inside and you can order your stuff to go which is what I usually do and take it home and set your plates up and eat at home a full Chinese meal from egg, rose, egg, foo, young it is fabulous. Plenty of zucchini, carrots, water chestnuts, broccoli, & even cashews, but not a lot of the main ingredient, the yard bird! I guess like everywhere else, we're paying more for less. Recently, I went to the location and ordered a bowl of soup. Right when you take the top off the bowl it's a ROACH!!! One word: call your dentist. -The beef Teriyaki was bone in I actually died laughing. It was sitting over chunks of broccoli with no sauce. The interesting part about the bone in teriyaki is that the bone sure didn't look like beef and that meat just didn't taste like beef. Whatever animal it was, it was definitely jerky. -The owners decided to charge us dinner prices during lunch hours. She lied and said I wanted dinner, not lunch. I finally wore the husband down and he took of $12. This was $65 down the toilet. I have no clue what we ate, because the "orange chicken was bathed in some kind of sauce, had no orange or no spice. The spring rolls had a chemical taste. I love the food at Moon Wok. The lunch comes with egg roll & soup (if you dine in; plus, you can get those fried won ton chips to put in the soups- delicious) and the portion is good for the price (around $6). The dinner only comes with rice, but the entrée portion is about 2x that of the lunch. Everything is cooked after you order (except egg rolls & the egg drop/ hot & sour soups- sometimes they are made ahead of time). Love almost every item on the menu. The sushis are a bit expensive in my opinion. I love veggies, so I like that a lot of their dishes have a good amount of veggies in them, but if you only eat meat, these are good: General Tso's chicken Sweet & sour chicken or pork Orange chicken Just FYI- the free fried rice that comes with the entrees is not really fried rice- it only has a tiny bit of eggs & soy sauce. So don't think you shouldn't get the fried rice entrée b/c that will be real fried rice. If you want to be healthier, you can request brown rice & they'll only charge a bit extra for it. Also, someone complained about the credit card charges- that's happened to me before, but I called my bank to complain & they said that Moon Wok didn't charge me extra, it's that the banks sometimes place a hold on the card with the extra amount (I'm not sure why the heck they do that), but that the charges are PENDING, so when the charges FINALIZE, it'll be the correct amount. This has happened to me at several retail places, too, so don't freak out unless the amount is higher when it's FINALIZED. Delivery is usually really quick, but when they are really busy, then it can take a bit of time. The décor consists of a few lanterns & TVs (you can request them to change the channel & they are usually nice about it) so you don't really want to eat here for the atmosphere. For the price & the quality of the food, you can't get better than Moon Wok in Cedar Hill. I'd recommend giving it a try. read more
