There's always something new to discover. While I was there planning to visit the Italian Art Gallery nearby, I came across Cold Spring Coffee House and saw that it had great reviews, so I figured it would be the perfect place to start my day. Getting there: If you're coming from NYC, the Metro-North is super convenient. The coffee house is an easy walk from the Cold Spring train station, which makes it a great stop when spending the day exploring the town. Inside, the coffee house isn't overly decorated, but it has a nice, relaxed atmosphere. I wasn't a huge fan of how close together some of the tables were, but it was quiet enough to sit. They also have a few tables out front if you'd rather enjoy your coffee while taking in the charming street. But the real showstopper here is the pastry selection! With such a beautiful display of pastries, who needs extra decorations? There were so many tempting options that it was hard to choose, but I ultimately went with the Goat Cheese & Honey Danish and paired it with a medium coffee. Overall, I'm glad I added this stop to my Cold Spring adventure. I always enjoy spending time here, strolling through the town, popping into the different shops, and finding little spots like this along the way. It's a great place to grab a coffee and pastry before continuing to explore everything Cold Spring has to offer.

You can't adjust your sugar so it was pretty sweet even though they said there's no added sugar besides the brown sugar. Their drinks come in a cute container with a sealable lid but not leak proof. They have Roman pinsa flatbreads, pastries, beignets, and ice creams from local farms. On a Saturday afternoon the place was busy but like many of the places in Cold spring the line for the bathroom was easy longer than the one to order. They also sell some clothing like hoodies for $120 and Keychains for$14.95. Yes I would come back but only once in awhile.

This review would have been a 5 if they hadn't forgotten about our empanada orders (bags were just sitting at the counter) while others had their names called promptly. The line moved quickly and there was a healthy number of customers. There's street parking but you might as well try the train station which is free on weekends and certain major holidays (not Columbus day).

It wasn't nice at all they sold us ice cream that was more melted than frozen. Ice cream was precariously stacked on the cones in a haphazard fashion, as it was too soft to make a scoop or stack.. It was immediately melting, running down the cones like a good rain. Cups were filled with soup, which were abandoned to a trash can. The servers knew the ice cream was too soft, but they served it anyway. Really? I went back to the store to get some wet napkins to clean our sticky hands (from dripping, melted ice cream), but couldn't get in the door. Many people were inside, waiting for their melting ice cream. Ice cream puddles were frequent, from the floor inside, outside the door, the sidewalk, all the way to the waterfront. The place appeared in need of a good cleaning, too. Waste of money. Wonder if someone laughed all the way to the bank. Shame on you, Moo Moos. read more

The creamery has a wide variety of ice cream flavors that go from chocolate or vanilla over caramel cashew (too die for!), Strawberry Cheesecake, Oreo Swirl, etc. When ordering make sure you really now how much you can eat since one scoop is almost the size of a pint! Besides, you can buy cute Moo Moo's shirts in the shop whose patio is facing Hudson River. Sad to say that no matter what the ice cream tastes like, I will never go there again unless they change their illegal practice of taking the tips for the owner and NEVER giving them to the high school and college aged kids that work there. It's misleading to the public and outright illegal. The owner has ignored the pushback from our small community to fix his illegal practices. Unfortunately, great ice cream does not outweigh this fact. If it were me, I'd apologize, do what I could to make it right and move on with my head held up high. read more

The ice cream here is very good. Obviously the location is nice as well, as nearly every review here has said. But I do think this place gets a little overhyped because of its location. If it weren't right on the river, it wouldn't get this much attention. The ice cream isn't THAT good. My friend's dog barked at Alexei the owner though. And my friend's dog never barks at anyone. My friend Alexi and I decided to try the ice cream again because who can resist ice cream? It was ok, just ok, and was not worth the price we paid. I think we met the owner, who wasn't too friendly. If you arrive during a busy time, you can enjoy your ice cream on the bench outside the front door or up in their patio area located to the left of the building. However the "patio" area is NOT shaded, so be prepared for your ice cream to melt quickly if you're outside on a hot day. Thanks for helping me beat the heat, y'all!
