This ice cream shop is a cute little establishment right on Light Street in Federal Hill. They open at 3pm which is interesting I wish they were opened a little bit earlier at least 2pm for an afternoon treat. Nevertheless I was greeted with a friendly welcome upon entering the door. The outside is painted bright pink color which catches your attention very easily. I think the name of the place is cute as well especially with this shop being known for dairy farm fresh ice cream. Parking at Federal Hill is always a task but it wasn't too bad since I went midday instead of evening. They had plenty of ice cream flavors to choose from, they had a nice variety of gluten- free options which I thought was great , but they only had one sugar free flavor option to choose from. Just looking for some ice cream in federal hill with our two grandsons on the weekend, stumbled across this place. A nice exterior and once inside looked very nice. A couple of guys ( the owners ! ) helped us. The ice cream was exceptional we all agreed, fairly priced, and large portions. Service was excellent. Worth a trip up from Columbia. Holy cow! My number one new ice cream place in Baltimore. This ice cream is creamy and delicious. We got both hard ice cream and soft serve. The soft serve was almost like chocolate milk in ice cream form, but even better. They explained that they make it themselves with heavy cream and french cocoa. It was super delicate. Chef's kiss. The mint cookies hard ice cream was also delcious. It had the perfect amount of cookie and the mint left a fresh feeling in my mouth. Now brace yourself...the mint ice cream isn't green. I had to explain to my friend that the green is normally artificially added. I love that they dont add that here! The owners are so kind and patient while you decide which flavor to pick. First things first, Moo Moos has some bitchin disco balls (imagine Ross from Friends saying that)... I absolutely adore that they decorated (and named their shop) without any seeming care for what people would think, especially given their location right across the street from Bmore licks. I won't compare the two, but I will say that Moo Moos has some high quality stuff that shouldn't be underestimated. I also had the feeling that the owners of Moo Moo are the same people that work in the shop and scoop the ice cream... I can't say for sure, but it definitely has major mom and pop (and another pop) vibes. Totally into it, also into the fact that their prices are actually reasonable! So anyways, about the ice cream, my friend and I went to Moo Moo's this past Saturday to pick up some $5 Saturday Sundaes for a group of people, and we were really happy with the experience!! The waffle cones are to die for!!! Wednesdays are waffle cone Wednesdays and you can get 2 scoops of ice cream in a waffle cone for $5 or soft serve in a waffle cone for $4. I came here on accident tonight after another shop across the street was unexpectedly closed. I have nothing but amazing things to say! This has to be some of the best ice cream I have ever had. Right after walking in the amazing staff here welcomed my group and explained their special ice creams. We got the Friday 5$ cone deal which gave two HUGE scoops of their fresh ice cream which is super delicious. The cone is also really yummy. The location also has lovely decor and good music going! The kids had handled the adults visiting so well I wanted to reward them. Moo Moo Cows was a winner! The owners were incredibly courteous and engaging. Gave us space to peruse the offerings and sample some before making a decision. Even with other customers coming in, there was no sense of rush. Everyone got some ice cream in reasonable time. We heard a bit about where the ice cream is produced in Lancaster County, PA, in small batches from a herd of 1700 mostly Holsteins and some Jersey cows. And the ice cream...SO flavorful. After only a couple bites, the kids were sold. They taste tested everyone's choices and we all agreed each flavor was divine. That rarely happens. We can be critical of ice cream shops. When it costs close to $5.00 or more for a single serving, the ice cream (custard or gelato) better be worthy of the investment. While the ice cream was okay, the service was definitely not great. I have never tried a food item that was flavored as Black Raspberry before, so I asked one of the service people, Will. I asked him if he could describe it, and all he said was Black Raspberry. Then, I asked what exactly it was and I got the exact same answer. He refused to expand, and my friend tried to help by asking "How would you describe it to someone who has never had the flavor?" and again, all he said was "Black Raspberry" in quite a rude and clipped tone. I understand receiving a question asking to describe something, as I have worked in food customer service a lot. However, after trying the flavor, it really isn't that hard to describe.
