I'm a big ice cream snob. Most local creameries are just okay to me and Bruster's is usually my favorite BUT Sydney's has some real magic going on. It shares a location with Arcola, a quaint cafe - I'm mentioning this because you might miss it driving by. Pineapple Upside Down 10000/10 - I was confused on why it was pink but it because they use REAL cherries! It was sooooooooo good. Peaches & Biscuits 9/10 - I got both because I couldn't decide which was better at first. This one is also a knockout, I just got bored with the biscuit pieces after a while. They have dairy-free/vegan options as well. On the day I visited the flavor they had in stock was a cantaloupe sorbet. My friend rated it 8/10 saying it was surprisingly good but tasted more like an icee. read more

I love Sydney's Ice Creams! I've sent my husband multiple times to get ice cream from them but finally went on national ice cream day to get some. I got key lime, key lime tres leches, and strawberry cheesecake. Everything looked so good in the case and she herself was a fantastic person. She is very open to new flavor ideas and I appreciate business owners wanting honest feedback. You knock on the door or ring the bell to have someone let you in. It's a small space but it's cute and she told me they do private parties on the patio, so I may book one in the future. I love the bright colors and her staff is just as nice as she is. They have vegan flavors and flavors that aren't all about chocolate, so I love the variety. You're free to taste any flavor that is available. They sell by the pints as well as scoops. You definitely need to come check out this amazing ice cream shop. Black woman owned and worth every pint you will get. I'll try a milkshake next time. read more

Fellow big backingtons... Check out Sydney's Ice Creams sampler tray for $12 and thank me later. This ice cream is so freaking good and the owner is even better. I always receive such sweet customer service when I visit with my family. They have a revolving menu so you'll always be in for a surprise. I love so many of the flavors which makes it kinda hard to choice a favorite flavor. They also have at least one vegan option. Overall, you can go wrong with any of these flavorful, textured ice creams (typically each flavors has some form of chunk in it such as cookies, biscuits, fruit etc). The place is small but it does offer a small space in the front for about 3 people to sit. Otherwise, it's more of a cute carryout/boutique ice cream shop. Parking can be busy on Belair road but I typically find street parking immediately in front of the shop. I highly recommend this business as a specialty dessert shop and small black owned business. P.s. I noticed there was a cute pink truck outside of the shop one day. I think they may be expanding to have a mobile ice cream truck or perhaps a rental for parties/events. Anywho, give them a visit. You won't be disappointed! Also, get the rewards card. read more

My wife and I went into Arcola to get some coffee and we were greeted by a friendly young woman (apparently it was Sydney herself!) who stated they were only serving ice cream at the moment. I was a bit surprised but there was a kind lady on a stool enjoying a cup. After her high praise for the ice cream we purchased a couple cups. I had the vegan mango sticky rice it was excellent. My wife had the pineapple upside down cake which was even more fantastic. We will be back to enjoy some more of Sydney's frosty treats!!! read more

Best ice cream in the city! My husband and I have been twice and have to stop ourselves from going every day they're open. The flavors we've tried (banana pudding, pecan praline, peaches & cream, cookies and cream) are ALL so incredibly good. Rich, toppings are perfectly textured, great consistency, and the flavor is just incredible. On our first visit we were so obsessed with the banana pudding that we had to take a pint home. Yesterday we were lucky enough to try the Dirt Pudding - it took us back to childhood in the best of ways. The waffle cones are also amazing, different from any other waffle cone we've ever had. Sydney and her team are helpful and kind. The shop is located inside Cafe Arcola which is a beautiful space with a chill, welcoming vibe. Lots of space to sit and enjoy your ice cream and the coffee shop has an extensive menu of coffee/alcohol/food - lots of great options if you're in the mood for something in addition to your ice cream. I came in and was immediately greeted with a blank stare from the young lady at the counter. I said hello, and she responded with a monotone "hi." She then asked, "Are you guys here for ice cream?" I said yes, and she replied, "The ice cream flavors are to the right" I thanked her and took a moment to look around since it was my first time there and I was excited to check everything out since I had been waiting since Sunday to come and support. As I looked toward the coffee area, I mentioned that the coffee sounded good. She quickly and very rudely corrected me, saying, "The ice cream flavors are over there to the right," even though she had just told me that. Her attitude made the whole interaction uncomfortable. I just wanted to browse a bit, but the atmosphere felt unwelcoming and awkward. I ended up not getting anything for myself, but I got my boyfriend a scoop of cookies and cream. It was nearly $6 for what looked like half a scoop, and it tasted like a McDonald's Oreo McFlurry which is cheaper, bigger, and honestly better. Definitely won't be returning. 0/10 read more

I will definitely be back! Upon entry, we were met with a friendly greeting. I tried the roasted cherry cheesecake with biscoff cookies and the peaches and biscuits ice cream. Both were well-balanced and creamy. I ended up getting the poundcake with the cherry cheesecake ice cream on top. The poundcake had a great spongy inside with a crusty caramelized outer shell and a blueberry lemon icing on top. I can't wait to stop in again. read more

Lemon peppermint stick might be my all time favorite ice cream flavor. It's an adorable little shop nestled in the historic Belair-Edison community. Dare I say that she has some of the best I've eaten. Her flavors are unique and so delicious. This time, I had her banana pudding and peaches and biscuits ice creams. Bits of biscuits in ice cream, y'all?!? Who knew that was what I was missing?! Each bite was heavenly. She also had a freshly baked pound cake that I sampled. It was the right amount of sweet, with a slightly crusted exterior. The inside? MOIST!!! She also makes delicious chocolate chip cookies too. Sydney's had a soft launch a week ago and I'm so glad I went to check her out! Her ice cream flavors for the soft launch were excellent! The winter citrus sorbet was very tart but sweet! My son enjoyed the birthday cake and I really enjoyed the Simone's cheesecake and Simone's smores. So much so, I barely got photos, but I'll be back to try more! This is a neighborhood gem!
