I could have sworn I saw tears in his eyes when he took that first bite I ordered the Tia's special since the server said it was a popular choice, and he was right! Worth the brain freeze! I stopped in here last night after craving some soft serve ice cream. It's a take away spot with a very small interior. It seems to be family run (with who I assumed to be Mom, Dad, and son all working behind the counter? I could be wrong). I normally just get chocolate and vanilla swirl soft serve but I decided to try something new and got the gelati instead. It comes with your choice of ice and your choice of soft serve together in one cup. I got the size small with pistachio ice and chocolate and vanilla soft serve. It was about $6 for a vry generous portion size. I wasn't sure what to think of the pistachio ice but it really grew on me. It's not your typical pistachio flavor but it was still really yummy. The soft serve was sooo delicious as well. Even the vanilla was flavorful on it's own. I finished the whole thing! I'd probably just get soft serve next time since I'm such a fan but the whole thing was really yummy. I definitely plan to return! read more

On a rough day, nothing can soothe you like a sweet treat! As someone who grew up close to Philly... I LOVE Italian Ice or as we say waddahice! My love said: rough day? Let's go try Tia's and that we did. Great and friendly service. There were so many options, but I'm a firm believer that you have to check on the classics before anything else. These did not disappoint as we roamed the neighborhood with red mouths and big smiles. So excited to go back and try more flavors. read more

tia's is one of my favorite places for a refreshing treat. their italian ice is next-level and i love that they have soft serve too. a mango gelati with vanilla soft serve is the only way to salvage a bad day. my friends and i are obsessed with this place to the point where they will refuse to go to any other ice cream shop or italian ice place if tia's is open. their flavor blends are amazing, our favorite is the gold coast. don't discount their food too! the jamaican beef patties and dogs are great quick sustenance. the workers are super nice and personable. it is overall a wonderful experience. the only downside is that they close during the winter because i would go here year round! read more

Lovely experience. Omg how do they have Jamaican meat patty's and Italian ice? One of the best combos. Both were amazing. The italian ice was very flavorful and did not melt too fast in this 100 degree weather. The Jamaican meat patty had the perfect consistency. I'm definitely coming back. This place is in the perfect spot. They are very friendly and the service was excellent. The decor was simple. There is a little bench in there if you would like to have a seat. And a bit more seating in the window. I'm always coming back here. read more

We have been enjoying a weekly treat at Tia's for a few months. The owners are great and are always friendly. Even when the line is long, it moves fast. I always get a gelati with mango, peach and tangerine Italian ice. It reminds me of an orange creamsicle. My partner mixes different flavors every week and I always taste his concoction. I've enjoyed every flavor except for pistachio and coconut. It's Hampden so parking is always interesting. We have never had to park extremely far but we usually go during the week. read more

LOVE IT!! I was thrilled to try Tia's after seeing them listed as a black-owned business on the Ave in Hampden. We stopped in one evening and the hardest thing was deciding what to get - Italian ice, soft serve, hard / scooped, banana boats.... everything looked amazing. We settled on a gelato (strawberry lemonade + vanilla softserve) and a scoop of strawberry icecream. We were fans of both! The smallest size was still plenty (they don't skimp!) and the prices were much better than going up to Ritas at the Rotunda! On top of all the options, it being tasty, and being locally owned --- they were wonderfully welcoming! The staff was super friendly and helpful with our questions. Love this place! read more

What a great little find along the streets of Hampden. This is exactly what we were craving. On a nice summer day, Tia's will absolutely hit the spot! These Italian ices are hand scooped and I felt like the ratio of flavors were perfect. We both ordered mediums and the amount that they give you is phenomenal! I could barely finish my entire gelato. Their combinations are pretty unique. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about the pistachio flavor but it did not disappoint at all. The gelato had a great consistency to it and was not overly sweet. It helped to balance out the tartness in the ice. Tia's doesn't just sell Italian ice, they also have food options as well. The perfect kind that will fit in your hands as you walk the streets exploring. I did not get the staffs name but they were extremely kind and you could see how happy they were to share this experience. Even with masks on, you could see the smile in their eyes. I have been here before when my daughter wanted an Italian ice! So I remembered this place has the best beef patties in Baltimore. Since I was in the area I needed to stop by! The crust is warm, flaky deliciousness filled with well seasoned ground beef with a bit of a kick. So yummy! Will always stop by for one when I'm in the area!! The service is always so good as well! Was checking out shops in Hampden on a hot day a few months back and stumbled upon this heaven sent place. My friend and I popped in and were not only excited to find a way to cool off but were also thrilled to learn it was black owned. The couple working was super friendly and gave us recommendations on their favorites and gave us time to try a few samples. I got the pineapple and mango Italian ice which was delicious and my friend tried one of their special mixes. We both were more than satisfied with the treats. This place is addicting. They are better the Rita's. The flavor and customer service is awesome. They allow you to taste the flavors before you actual purchase. There are so many delicious flavors. It's so good I go every weekend. There offer tubs you can purchase, and you can mix flavors. They also have pizza, fried dough, and Jamaican Pattie's! I telling you this place is awesome! I opted for sour apple mixed with blueberry and he decided on pineapple and mango. O M G ... very delicious. The texture is so smoooooth and the taste is not overly sweet. So perfect for me. First time walking into the former and dearly missed Spro Café and into a new ices and dessert place. Need to try any of the ices and other dessert items next time. I was looking for a little self satisfaction. I can't remember where I saw the advertisement but, I looked up address and made sure to save it. I called earlier today to see if they were open and the answer was YES. I decided to pop in. Parking was metered. Not to bad finding a spot I guess because of the holiday. It's a pretty small and clean place. Only had two people in front of me. I chose to get the reggae Italian ice and a cup of vanilla soft serve. The prices were pretty reasonable. Service was quick and friendly. I couldn't wait to get in my car to taste it. It was so good and the flavors were rich. I don't think I will be wanting Italian ice from any other place. As a former greater Philadelphia native, I've never said anything remotely close to what I'm about to say now. This Italian ice is BETTER than anything you could get in Philly. Period. I legit fought through 2 brain freezes to finish it and I didn't care. The texture and flavor combinations are in a class all its own. The service is quick and friendly. Such a great find!! Stumbled across this place while waiting for carry out food. Friendly staff, great prices. The pina colada Italian ice = bomb!! The funnel cake tasted just like the amusement park. We sampled the soft service vanilla and that's yummy too. We will be back to try more items!! Just absolutely delightful! We ordered many things; a soft-serve cone, hot dogs, and 5 different flavors of Italian ice. I have not one complaint. Everything was perfect! The service was amazing and the many flavor selections definitely suited my family well. The strawberry banana and watermelon flavors were my favorite today. Next time, I'll be sure to try the funnel cake and a few scoops. So proud to have this business in Hampden! read more

We were immediately greeted by this kind owner. The customer service was great. I ordered the rainbow flavor and it was delicious. I also bought the pretzel but I wasn't as impressed. It was just ok but that water ice was so good. I would definitely return here over and over for the ice (plus it's Black owned). FYI there isn't really a sitting area inside the shop but there are a few chairs in front of the store. You could also visit plenty of places nearby as you enjoy your treat while walking. There is metered parking on the street which can get crowded at times. Overall, 5/5 for the ice/customer service and 3/5 for the pretzel. read more
