It's been so long since I've been back to Tia's but I was really craving a gelati on a recent hot day so I stopped by. Staff was friendly and helpful, allowing me to sample a few different ice flavors. They have some really unique combinations that were very fun. I'm more of a soft serve ice cream person than an Italian Ice fan so for me, I care more about the ice pairing well with a chocolate vanilla twist. Some of the more complicated ice flavors probably wouldn't go well with a soft serve twist, so I played it safe and got my usual: pistachio ice with chocolate vanilla swirl. I ended up getting a larger size this time around and while it was totally delicious, it was HUGE! The soft serve was well incorporated around the entire cup making each bite delicious. Tia's is a Philly-style Italian water ice shop on the Avenue in Hampden. I hadn't ever been inside, although I must have walked past it hundreds of times. Then, last weekend, my friend and I stopped in for an Italian ice. They have 22 flavors (and 9 specialty combos) to choose from and friendly customer service. (They also offer ice cream if that's what you're craving.) My friend and I enjoyed a water ice, which we took to go as we walked around Hampden. tia's is one of my favorite places for a refreshing treat. their italian ice is next-level and i love that they have soft serve too. a mango gelati with vanilla soft serve is the only way to salvage a bad day. my friends and i are obsessed with this place to the point where they will refuse to go to any other ice cream shop or italian ice place if tia's is open. their flavor blends are amazing, our favorite is the gold coast. don't discount their food too! the jamaican beef patties and dogs are great quick sustenance. the workers are super nice and personable. it is overall a wonderful experience. the only downside is that they close during the winter because i would go here year round! read more

We have been enjoying a weekly treat at Tia's for a few months. The owners are great and are always friendly. Even when the line is long, it moves fast. I always get a gelati with mango, peach and tangerine Italian ice. It reminds me of an orange creamsicle. My partner mixes different flavors every week and I always taste his concoction. I've enjoyed every flavor except for pistachio and coconut. It's Hampden so parking is always interesting. We have never had to park extremely far but we usually go during the week. read more

What a great little find along the streets of Hampden. This is exactly what we were craving. On a nice summer day, Tia's will absolutely hit the spot! Their combinations are pretty unique. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about the pistachio flavor but it did not disappoint at all. The perfect kind that will fit in your hands as you walk the streets exploring. We were immediately greeted by this kind owner. The customer service was great. I ordered the rainbow flavor and it was delicious. I also bought the pretzel but I wasn't as impressed. It was just ok but that water ice was so good. I would definitely return here over and over for the ice (plus it's Black owned). FYI there isn't really a sitting area inside the shop but there are a few chairs in front of the store. You could also visit plenty of places nearby as you enjoy your treat while walking.
