I highly recommend Montrose Apartments. The management team at Montrose goes above and beyond to make sure residents feel at home. I found both the management team and maintenance team to be very responsive and friendly. I lived at Montrose for 1 year (1BR floorplan). The apartment has nice fit and finish, and useful amenities such as a dog washing room and a clean gym. It's also in a great location-- the walk to downtown Mountain View takes ~20 minutes. I moved to another apartment because I found a better deal on a studio and I now work in the office everyday. If I was still WFH, I would have renewed my lease at Montrose. read more

Been living here since 2020. It is a very nice peaceful place and everything's fantastic from amenities to the staff. Real big shout out to the maintenance staff especially Daniel. He has always went above and beyond to ensure that our problems were fixed, and there was never a time where he couldn't fix it. He helped make sure that we were comfortable and satisfied with what work needed to be done. The rooftop amenity is my favorite as it is great for get togethers and enjoying a BBQ or even just relaxing by the firepits at night. We are renting a 1 BR and the space you get accompanied by the high ceiling is just perfect for a couple or single. read more

This is mixed something's we're nice. If you are living here longer term things may be different than this review or if your company utilized a different source for temp. Housing. The courtyard was nice it was quiet. The proximity to restaurants etc. is good. It felt safe. We did not get mail here. The negative start with The walls being very thin, doors have gaps that let air noise in from outside hallways. The furnished ones ( at least ours) with what appears to be IKEA type cabinets etc. In general all soft furnishings and such are not great quality. Towels are pretty rough and honestly if this is a corporate rental I'd suggest bringing your own towels or going out and buying. Parking is so tight you risk damage to your vehicle. Only one vehicle is allowed or they say you risk being towed and need to park on the street good luck with that. Do I recommend-- that's a tough call it's very quiet except when you hear every door open and close. They are also used for corporate short term rentals. The cleaning standards prior to move in are sub-par. Dusty vents, etc. We didn't use the facilities like pool or gym so can't say anything about them. We did like the keyless system they have for elevators apartments, doors etc. read more

Having spent four years at Montrose, I would not recommend them given the management. They work to increase the rent at every opportunity, make sure you don't go month to month with their pricing, and the office staff are terrible. Also, the management on site does nothing to help tenants...they fail to keep the grills operating, the TV's in the common areas working, the pool maintained, etc. Btw, my rent started at $2,900/mo and rose to almost $4,000/mo in just two years. And until Covid, they did nothing to help with these large annual increases. Also, the building has had electrical fires in the garage and flooding from broken pipes which has flooded the storage units multiple times. And rather than address the issue, they allow these repairs to go unfixed. Overall, I would avoid Montrose! read more

Find another apartment. We've had a mixed experience here in the last 10 months. There was the ongoing pest issues (termites, ants) which went several months with only partial resolution, our car being significantly damaged by the car lift (which we flagged in advance as a concern), and theft of our package in the mailroom. 1. Pests: We live on the 4th floor and had notified management about our pest issues. It took 3 weeks for someone to come and inspect termites.....several of which came into our apartment. 2. Car lifts: They are incredibly small. If you have a kid, (or an SUV) as we do, it is incredibly impossible to get them in and out. It also damaged our car, costing us $2k. We had asked for two uncovered parking spots as there are plenty available, but were told that was not possible... even after significant cost in damages. 3. Theft: Packages are constantly stolen from the mail room. The community has asked for security systems to be installed, and it hasn't been made a priority. 4. Road Noise: Our apartment is facing El Camino, so we have the ambience of sirens, horns, and regular traffic noise. Other apartments in the back are more protected, so if you're looking here and are sensitive to road noise, do take this into consideration. 5. Cost: We pay a premium to live in this apartment complex for their beautiful facilities/amenities and location to downtown MTV, but when COVID hit they did not offer anything back to renters when these amenities were removed. 6. Health Risk: It's also apparent that people are putting their apartment on Airbnb, risking the safety of our entire complex. This has been highlighted to management with no action. UPDATE: The last straw with the apartment building was not that I had to have the entire living area sprayed for ants again. Or that I asked them to caulk the half inch gap between baseboards and the floor where ants were coming out of per the exterminators recommendation (and is Normally done in a home once it's built), not that they failed to do it properly once attempted; it's not even that they have not promised to keep rents the same during the pandemic/economic crisis despite falling rent prices and the chance to earn ahem selves good will from the remaining neighbors. The last straw is that there've been several break-ins to cars in our parking lot and packages stolen out of the locked mail room. General inadequate security and management. So instead of re-opening the office and staffing it for the essential service of package delivery they have decided to double down on not letting any delivery people into the mail room at all and insisting that they somehow gain access and wander around our entire massive complex to deliver the packages individually to us. That does not work. They've been trying to get delivery people to do that for months and it's completely unreasonable to expect that, it hasn't worked. So of course today there are packages left outside of the mail room in an unlocked area for anyone to steal. They claim they would hire security guard for after hours but there's no one watching the packages during office hours. They're completely irresponsible as a company and are not providing us with the doorman service for packages that we paid for when we moved in. They are gaslighting us and pretending that dozens of delivery people should be spending extra hours of their time to go inside of our buildings and deliver all these items. Say they actually accomplish that? then there could be thieves entering our building and stealing the packages from our doorsteps instead of the mail room. Nice. We will be moving out if they do not resolve this package situation immediately by reopening the Office (safely) to receive them. I guess I kept expecting them to do the responsible thing to find a way to resume package services, but they haven't. FYI after I posted my review below with picture of the lake in the garage they finally fixed the leak. It only took five months and a number of complaints. Wish this company would get its act together because there is some really nice light from the windows... This is a prime argument for why one company shouldn't own dozens of massive apartment complexes in a region. Love my apartment here, but management seems to miss the mark... by a long shot. Very much a lip service crew, a lot of bark and not a whole lot of bite when it comes to community safety / security. Multiple times throughout the year I have seen homeless people sleeping in garages... The first night I stayed in my brand new apartment I looked down from my balcony and saw another homeless man sleeping in front of the doubles doors of the building. Thought it may have been a one off type thing but nope, they let them stay rent free! What kind of security does this community provide? "Courtesy patrol"... Also known as f***** useless patrol. I will however give the maintenance staff credit as they all seem to be very hard working and friendly. The gentleman with the hat and glasses (cant remember his name) but he deserves a shoutout. Hopefully this terrible review can give the management the "push they need" & give some helpful insight on the issue at hand. Would like to see some action taken besides posting about chai tea lattes & hot chocolate on active building. Funny that a multi billion dollar company (Prometheus group) that charges residents a ton of money can't seem to handle a few homeless people. I have recently moved out with my husband, due to the fact that our jobs required us to move to SoCal. Our experience with Montrose was great - the area, the community and the entire staff( thank you Ashley, you are the best!) were wonderful. I loved my apartment! We had a nice pool view, high ceilings, lots of natural light and a window in the bathroom(that's not easy to find). Most important, the area is super clean and safe. Right accross the street we had Starbucks, several resturants, CVS, dry cleaner, pretty much everything you need. Again, the staff is very nice and professional and overall, it really felt like HOME. I am new to the country and spent a few weeks searching for a rental home and Montrose was the winner! Funny enough I looked around in the area and in my shortlisted options 3 out of 4 are managed by Prometheus. The Montrose unit condition is very decent and I could smell new paint when I moved in. The management team, Jac and Jennifer, have been very helpful from my first tour til moving in (and keep going). We've been living at Montrose since December 2016 -- first tenants in this unit. The staff is helpful and friendly. The grounds are beautiful and well-kept. We love the community room. There were some issues with ants the first summer (it happens when it's hot), but haven't had an issue since then. There were a few mail-box break-ins. A LONG overdue Review! I am glad I am finally writing my first Yelp review. And my first stars of my review could go to no one better than, Angy. It is only because of this girl I am committed to being a lifelong resident to Prometheus as long as she is around. At the beginning of my tenancy I was facing some issues. I was so upset at one point I contemplated pursuing the matter in court. Then came in the picture my beautiful Angy ! She not only took the Time to go into the depth of the matter and resolve the issue but proved to me that she had my back! When you are frustrated, that is all you could ever ask for! Her level of commitment and customer satisfaction is beyond my expectation, and the best that I have ever received at any establishment. I always tell her if she ever leaves I am going to follow her wherever she goes, she has touched my life that much! This girl is SPECIAL, and has a heart of GOLD! Summary: - terrible noise insulation - huge number of units are AirBnB'd, exacerbating the noise issue - 2 month rent fee to break lease - high premium on rent These units look nice, but this is deceiving; the builders really cut corners with construction, and as a result there is virtually no noise insulation between apartments vertically. Upstairs neighbors walking around normally sounds like someone is banging a mallet on the wooden floors. Now, some noise in apartments is to be expected, and this wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, except for the fact that.... A large number of the units here are leased to a company that flips them onto AirBnB. Thus, there is a constant rotation of new people in and out of the apartments. New people don't understand or care about the terrible noise insulation issues. I was getting constantly woken up at 6-7am as people checked out. Management can't/won't do anything about this. The best they'll offer is for you to move to a different apartment (a huge pain and expense). See other reviews; I'm not the only one with this experience. I finally had enough and decided to break my lease after 3 months. Note that they charge an outrageous 2 months rent to break a lease, so this comes at a cost of $6-10k for a 1/2 bedroom. On top of this, despite my short tenure, and the fact that the apartment was cleaned to immaculate condition, they wanted to charge an additional ~$350 to clean and paint the apartment. I challenged this with photo/video I had taken, and they backed off. Document *everything*. For an apartment charging a very premium rate ($3k+ for a 1 bedroom), this is just not worth it. Especially during Covid where renters are in short supply. Go live somewhere else. read more

Been living here a couple months now, and so far the experience has been great. The apartments themselves are very modern with brand new appliances (front loading washer/dryer, stainless steel kitchen, etc)... and all hardwood floors (well, technically laminate I believe - but hey, it's not carpet!). The windows are very large, and each apartment has a small balcony. Some of the units are directly on El Camino, which I imagine could get noisy during the traffic. Ours is pretty quiet however. I was worried about moving from "the city" of SoCal to "the burbs" of NorCal away from civilization, but the complex is located between a shopping plaza (Target, Whole Foods, etc) and the small "downtown" of Mountain View so it doesn't feel too isolated. Yes, these are one of the more expensive apartments in the area, but you get what you pay for. The amenities I have utilized so far are top-notch: a small gym, pool area (with comfy seating!), and a rooftop lounge with fire pits and BBQs, etc. What really stands out is how friendly and helpful the staff have been, especially Athea! She really made us feel right at home and continued to check up on us throughout the moving process and beyond. Luckily we haven't encountered any major snafus or made any extreme requests (yet), but if we did I feel assured the staff would accommodate. read more

We had been at there for my friends. It was too complicated way to find your key and find your apartment. You can get mad if you go there at night with children and luggage. Have been living here for a little over half a year now and just happened to stumble upon the Yelp page now. I noticed that the few negative reviews are mostly from people who don't even rent here, which seems a bit unfair. Here's my take: Pros: very modern and clean building, high ceilings, huge windows, great amenities (even if I don't use the gym as much as I probably should :P), phenomenal/friendly apartment managers, service requests have a very quick turnaround time, pet friendly, wonderful location across the street from Starbucks/CVS/Chipotle/Walgreens/etc and short drive to Castro/Trader Joes/Whole Foods/Costco/Target/Safeway/etc, Nest system, reserved indoor parking spot, balcony with a storage closet, and probably more that I am forgetting Cons: a bit on the pricier side but on par with similar apartment buildings in the area TLDR: overall great place to live with an incredibly friendly staff. I've lived at Prometheus properties for the past five years, first a year at Madera then four years at Montrose. I appreciate these are difficult times with many services stressed and strained, and others have had different experiences - but my personal experience over the years has been nothing but positive. The team at Montrose has been great; always friendly, accommodating and super responsive. I loved my apartment and felt at home there; four years is the longest I've ever stayed in one place. I moved on last week, and wanted to share this parting thanks to the team. I would absolutely consider returning to Montrose or another Prometheus property if I find myself apartment hunting again. read more

I hate leaving a bad review on Yelp, but I'm hoping this will help someone. If you thinking about moving here, I strongly advise against it. When I first moved in I had issues with my hot water (which after twenty emails, multiple construction teams coming in and out my apartment every week, they fixed in about a month and a half. I also moved into an unfinished apartment--it's been five months and my front door still doesn't shut properly and needs to be replaced. Moreover, since I moved in my packages have been missing after they're delivered, there is still loud construction outside my place without any prior notice, screws and rat traps in the basement (they had (and maybe still have) rats in the basement), and an unorganized staff that doesn't solve issues I report in a thoughtful courteous manner. While there are great outdoor areas, a pool (although its often dirty), amenities (gym, lounge areas), and great looking units, this place is overpriced and really a hassle. I'd look into the newer complexes getting built on El Camino in Mountain View, Carmel the Village (where I last lived), or another major complex in the area instead of Montrose. read more

We didn't rent here (Aug 2016). Here's why: The apartments were unfinished and we couldn't see one that would reflect what we were renting. Nobody had any dimensions that they could share, nor did they follow up with them. The units were expensive and had to be accepted sight unseen. There was no guarantee they would be finished on time, and that was our risk. The price went up several hundred dollars during our conversation. It was surreal. We could not be more impressed with our experienced with the Montrose thus far. Our first morning in our new apartment we realized the street noise was louder than we were accustomed to. Being light sleepers, we knew this was not going to be a good set up for us. We went into the leasing office first thing in the morning to see if there was a possibility to switch apartments. We knew it was a long shot but the team was super understanding! They even let us look at other apartments in the building to see which one we liked the best. We ended up finding another apartment facing the opposite side and moved in the next day. This created a bit of a hassle and extra work on everyone's part but the team handled it with grace. The level of accommodations far exceeded our expectations. On top of that, they are very responsive. The shower in our bathroom had low water pressure so we let them know. Someone came same day to fix it. The complex is absolutely beautiful with pool, gym, clubhouse, rooftop lounge and pet friendly. I highly recommend renting here. read more

The staff at Montrose are extremely pleasant, helpful, and responsive. Athea has gone above and beyond to help us rent from out of state. The property itself is state of the art with stylish up to date furnishings, and has several areas available to relax in. Our apartment is modern, with spacious bathrooms, high ceilings, and large windows that allow sunlight. In addition you have storage and a balcony, since we have a dog I love the wood like flooring. I have never left a yelp review- but here we are as this had to be the worst experience at an apartment complex I've ever had. Let me begin by stating how unorganized everything is... be prepared for someone else to already be using your assigned parking or storage unit. Also be prepared to see different neighbors every day as the buildings are full of Airbnb's being rented for one or two days at a time. We found 3 different homeless people living in the stairwell, sleeping in the lobby and then a storage unit. Management seems unconcerned by most reports such as our building being broken into on multiple occasions (yes the building as In all doors rigged for entry) so you have homeless people Defecating inside the building- and breaking into cars, storage units, you name it. Last there is the poor quality of the apartments - so you can hear everything above you. Literally can tell what your neighbor is doing at all times. If you want to reach the office- be prepared to walk down there... the phone rings and rings always. For the price you pay to live there it's honestly laughable. Now a week after move- out we received $500 in additional cleaning fees (our apartment was spotless). My recommendation is to live anywhere else. read more

I chose to live here almost entirely because of my initial interaction with the staff. They are professional, highly responsive and keen to build a community. I was concerned that the property might be noisy as it is adjacent to El Camino, but was recommended by the staff a beautiful sunny and quiet unit facing an inner courtyard. The amenities here at Montrose are also excellent, from a rooftop gathering space that can be reserved for half-days to extensive access to high quality gas grills all around the campus. I moved into Montrose April 2017 and the experience has been impeccable. Everyone in the leasing office is friendly and accommodating. They have tools and carts available for moving. The gym, pool, hot tub, and common areas are new, clean, and great to use. Maintenance requests have been completed same day. Apartment is brand new and top notch. Tenants are friendly in the halls. I wanted to love this place but it has been a non-stop hassle living here. I've been trying to find a way to break this lease since I moved in. The place is a dump. I'm not sure they have hired any janitorial staff. The pool is constantly dirty and the outdoor furniture is covered in dirt and dust from the non-stop construction. The parking situation is a nightmare. I basically try to find street parking because the car lifts resemble Guillotine's more than car lifts. This is by far the worst place I have lived in since moving to the Bay Area. It's not worth half the price I pay for this place. read more
