Bathroom at the Verve covered in sewage on a Sunday evening
    Hank Y.

I was busy washing dishes in my apartment on a Sunday evening after a long week. Suddenly the kitchen sink filled with dark sooty water, covering my arms and hands. I went to the bathroom to take a shower and rinse off when I encountered the grossest scene imaginable. It looked like a sewage bomb had gone off in the bathroom covering the floor, shower and parts of the bathroom vanity in black excrement water. The smell was even worse than a tipped-over portapotty - it was more chemical and toxic-smelling, burning your nostrils. Everything in the bathroom from the rug to the garbage can was covered. I grabbed a COVID mask, took a photo and shut the bathroom door to prevent some of the smell from leaking out. A mosquito and several flies flew by me. I called Verve but there was no answer except from the emergency line. An emergency tech came out around 11PM and attempted to clean up the mess with a wad of cotton towels. He worked heroically until 1AM then left a dehumidifier running over night. He mentioned that he thought the sludge was coming up from the shower drain. I went to bed at 2AM but slept poorly a few feet from the bathroom next door worrying that the sludge would leak out in my sleep for me to inhale. The dehumidifier rattled on loudly in the background. I had to leave the next morning but not before a service employee came in to check. As we walked into the bathroom we realized another sewage bomb had gone off and the foul smell and the bathroom was again covered. Unfortunately the previous service tech's equipment/dehumidifier was covered. As I went to the garage, pipes below my unit were leaking water and parts of the garage's insulation onto the floor. --- I wish I could tell you that this episode has been resolved. The bathroom was cleaned after the second bomb but continues to smell of sewage and the floor remains stained brown. My carpet to the bathroom is still stained by equipment and boots dragged into the bathroom. The Verve is telling me that they expect me to go in and continue to use that bathroom They've done nothing about my belongings in the bathroom and told me that this type of thing happens "at all of their properties" and is not unusual. The manager informed me that she also had the same thing happen, implying that I should just live with it. Maybe I've just been lucky but this has never happened to me or to other friends who live in apartments. I do not know what to do, but I hope this does not happen to you

This apartment complex treats its residents extremely well. The respect masks and social distancing, and have really good parking options. Located right on El Camino, you can get to the freeway and downtown really easily. If you have a dog, they love them here and have a place that is walking distance to get your dog taken care of. The even treat their residents to unlimited coffee/espresso drinks. That's nice. #sipbiecaffe

This review is definitely overdue and I normally don't write reviews but I thought I should give my feedback. I've been here since April and I have nothing but great things to say about the property and the staff. Besides the obvious which is the perfect location and my fabulous apartment, the staff has made my experience super pleasant. Alexis helped me during the move in process and she was super helpful. It was literally the easiest move ever and she followed up with me several times after to make sure everything was ok and I was happy with my unit which I totally appreciate. Also I have had few interactions with Yusif and he's been great. The maintenance team Marcos and Edgar are friendly and always go out of their way to say hello when I'm walking around. The property is also one of the cleanest and tidiest properties I've lived at and I've probably lived in over 10 apartment buildings. The property always smells so good from the elevator to the hallways and the package room... even the trash room smells good! Honestly, I'm extremely surprised about the couple negative reviews here as I haven't experienced anything close to that...I absolutely love living here! One last thing- Couple months after moving in, I got a nice surprise at my front door when I got home which it was 2 bottles of wine and a sweet thank you note which was sent to all my neighbors as well :)

lived here for almost 13 months (feb 2025-march 2026)…read more loved the location and size of apartment complex- this was my second prometheus property ive ever lived at (i lived at the hadley prior to this in 2022-2025). while madera is a tad bit older and very Y2K (i think the property is 10-15 years old?) the quality of the structure itself is more robust compared to the hadley. the only pros i liked about this unit were: the location (i love downtown mountain view, the size of the apartment complex (i came from the hadley where that is a super big community- too many people!!! that was too overstimulating. madera is more midsize ), and the sense of community (people were very active on the tenant forum, had seasonal get togethers/ activities, plus the community itself organizes a bi weekly brunch thing (not ran by the madera staff btw, this is soley organized by the people that live here!) yes there is an ant problem like everyone else is saying- ive only observed this in the spring and summer time- use the ant baits they sell at target. my only gripe about this place and reason of why i wouldn't come here again is the quality of maintenance. when i toured the unit i moved into there was a functioning door knob to the outdoor patio- i had this in my video i recorded touring the unit. moving into the apartment, the knob was changed into a weird lock thing where i could only open and lock the door from the inside (see pictures) also the quality of paint at move in wasnt that great. i also attached pictures of what that looked like at the time of move in. you do get charged for paint maintenance at the time of move out so be forewarned that even though you will be charged, the quality of the paint labor isnt even that great for the next tenant. i was not charged for paint at the hadley but that complex is new... idk... im still questioning how apartment complexes come up with these crazy charges i had my fridge replaced mid lease due to ice maker issues. communication was good and everything but i wish they did a more careful job of moving the fridge in and out of my apartment while i was not home at my apartment (i gave them permission to do this while i was in the office). i noticed door scratches/scuffs at my front door and the fridge replacement was not clean (im a clean freak!) i also had a move out inspection i requested to be present in and the maintenance person that was conducting it didnt put his bootie covers on (i have a no shoe in the house policy) - that kinda rubbed me the wrong way. just another reason why i wasnt found of the maintenance quality. living at the hadley, their maintenance puts on booties regardless every time coming into the unit!!! people have complained about the caltrain noise. honestly i dont mind it much lol. i lived in the unit towards the back of the complex (on villa street so i didnt hear much of it) BUT for two years living at the hadley my units were facing evelyn - so i def heard the caltrain noise then... didnt mind it tho but i know those who are sensitive to that would hate it would i live at this community again? probably not. if i ever move back to the apartment life (i now live in a house), i would probably try my luck at 100 moffett who is also ran by prometheus. it is the same community size and similar age of madera... but i am weary of the maintenance staff / quality. maybe i was spoiled by the hadley but if they are all prometheus properties you would expect the same quality all around

My husband and I were interested in a specific unit and first visited on March 30. At that time, we were told the unit would be ready by Thursday, April 2. We followed up multiple times in person. When we returned on April 2 (Thursday), we were told the unit was still not ready and that it might be ready by Monday, April 6, and that we would definitely be notified. We were even told that our phone number had been clearly noted and "stuck on the computer" so they wouldn't forget to contact us. Because we really wanted this specific unit, we kept following up and ended up visiting the leasing office multiple times over this period. In fact, we interacted with almost everyone in the office -- they all recognized us and knew exactly which unit we were asking about. In order to wait for this unit, we even extended our Airbnb stay, which resulted in additional cost for us. So this wasn't just a matter of time wasted -- it also caused us unnecessary financial burden. However, today (April 8), we saw that the unit is listed online as "available now," and yet no one from the leasing office has reached out to us. This whole process showed a clear lack of communication, accountability, and professionalism from the staff. Despite repeated in-person follow-ups, clear expressions of interest, and their assurances that we would be contacted, we were ultimately ignored. Honestly, in hindsight, I'm glad we experienced this before signing a lease. It gave us a clear picture of how things are handled here, and we now feel very fortunate that we didn't end up renting from this apartment.

Today, two of us were walking through chatting, and a Meadows property manager/worker yelled at us from across the parking lot, maybe 40 yards away, asking who we were. Thinking he had mental issues or a salesman, we kept walking. He then approached and harassed us, screaming about how we were trespassing, continuing verbal abuse and harassment and followed us until we left the property. We talked quietly, did not approach anyone, hang door tags, play music, or toss trash. We didn't go into the center apartment area. We're both computer professionals. This employee could have gotten on his golf cart and quietly told us sorry we cannot walk thru his parking lot and to kindly exit the premises. Instead, he chose to yell threateningly across a parking lot and come after us with verbal abuse. A good way to judge apartment management is how they treat visitors. Because as residents, you're going to get more of that - or worse. Stay away from this complex.

Meadows is very safe and it's also in a good location - it is right off of Central expressway and it's close to 237 and 101. Apartment was spacious as well. I also thought the gym was great and bigger than a lot of other apartment gyms so amenities as good here. There is a community pool as well. The management company was very responsive with service requests. We had an issue where the central AC was spewing out dead bugs so the maintenance team quickly came in and gave us a new AC. Meadows also hosts some events every couple months (coffee station, Easter egg hunt, food trucks, etc.) which made the apartment complex feel more like a community. One of the drawbacks about this complex is the lack of natural light in the some of the apartments. Because of all the tall redwood trees and the direction of our apartment, we didn't get much light. For the most part, we had our lamps turned on all the time. And because of the trees, leaves would fall into our balcony so we had to frequently clean that up. We decided to leave once the lease was up as we found a place with more natural light closer to our offices and meadows was going to increase the rent by $250 a month. If it wasn't for the light situation, probably would have continued to stay here. Overall I enjoyed living here, and if you are ok with less natural light or you are able to get an apartment facing the right direction, then I recommend!

WARNING: Management Refuses to Enforce 'Assigned Parking' - 24-Hour Grace Period for Trespassers…read more This review is to warn current and prospective residents about a critical, unacceptable policy failure regarding assigned parking at 100 Moffett, which Management has formally refused to fix. The Contractual Breach: My lease guarantees an "assigned" and "exclusive" parking space. However, management has an internal policy that grants any unauthorized vehicle a 24-hour grace period before the vehicle is eligible for towing, even after a resident reports the violation. The Result of the Policy: This policy means that even if you pay for an exclusive spot, Management's own rules guarantee a trespasser 24 hours of free, legal use of your property. When I reported an unauthorized vehicle occupying my assigned space, the vehicle remained present for multiple hours despite contacting the patrol, the towing company, and maintenance. This proves the management's enforcement policy is a failure to provide a contracted service, forcing the paying resident to park in unsafe or unassigned areas. Management's Refusal to Resolve: After a detailed exchange of emails, management (Prometheus) has confirmed in writing that: They will not change the policy allowing the 24-hour grace period for assigned spots. They refuse to provide residents with a documented, specific "Urgent Towing Protocol" to bypass the 24-hour waiting period, even after multiple requests. Prospective tenants must be aware: Assigned parking at 100 Moffett is not exclusive. Management knowingly maintains a policy that compromises your exclusive right, fails to enforce the terms of the lease, and provides no documented solution for immediate removal. We are now pursuing formal complaints with the local Housing Authority regarding the loss of a contracted housing service.

LOVE. Living. At. The Marc…read more We have been living at the Marc for almost three years (and just renewed for a fourth!) and couldn't be happier here. Coming from a world of New York luxury high rises, our bar was set very high. We totally fell in love with the Marc. First off, the building's location can't be beat - just two blocks away from University Ave: you get all the action while having calm surroundings. Second, the apartments are great - spacious, well maintained and the balconies are incredible. We are on the west side and literally get amazing sunsets every night. It doesn't really matter that the building is several decades old - the apartments have been updated and Ruffino and the maintenance crew will take care of any issues. Third, amenities are terrific - pool, barbecues, gym (just renovated a few weeks ago!). Finally: the community. Hats off to Linda - master property manager - who has created an incredible community of people who want to hang out with each other! There are regular mixers at the Marc that are very well attended and our neighbors are genuinely nice and friendly people. All the above points make for a great place, but this brings it over the line as a one-in-a-million place. If you come meet Linda or Larissa to inquire about a unit and life at the Marc and if that wasn't enough to convince you, just say hi and ask around to any of the neighbors you meet up in the hallway. Everyone will be delighted to tell you how awesome it is to live here! Here's to many more great times at the Marc!
