Authentic Philly Cheesesteak mini with Fries
Brie G.

This place is super solid and consistent. It's not a place you need reservations for and I love that. They have awesome Philly cheesesteaks in three sizes, tasty fries, and high-quality salads. My favorite is the Society Hill with crispy chicken. Pictured is just the smaller version! It has a sports bar like atmosphere and the service is always warm and friendly.

Southside Johnny & Authentic Philly Cheesesteak

Monti's absolutely crushed it. We tried the South Side Johnny and the Authentic Philly Cheesesteak with aged cheddar cheese sauce, and both were unreal. The meat was perfectly chopped and juicy, the bread was spot on, and that cheddar sauce just took everything to another level. If you're looking for something that actually comes close to a real Philadelphia Philly cheesesteak, this is hands down the best spot in Chicago--and honestly, probably all of Illinois. Nothing else around here compares. This is the kind of place you keep coming back to. Highly recommend.

Authentic Philly Cheesesteak with Chips and a pickle

It didn't significantly stick out from other cheesesteak places. The dryness of the food made it clear that one was expected to drink, but I don't. The server was kind and attentive, the food was done quickly. The ambiance was relaxed. Came around 4pm on a Wednesday.

Hey everyone so we amé to eat here and let me start with the place is super clean and restrooms as well. Staff was friendly and very professional very helpful. So let's get into the food part it was good we had 3 different sandwiches so we had the rocky super good also had the original Philly with provolone it was also good it wasn't as cheesy as I would thought it would be though so final sandwich was the Philly pizza and that one was also good the sauce was really good to be honest surprised by it. The habanero sauce was also good and spicy just a bit. Ok price now I think it was a bit up there in price but everything is now super expensive now a days right so oh well. I do recommend this place for sure.

Cheesesteak Hoagie with extra mayo and grilled mushrooms

Amazing place to eat if you go to Chicago....I found this place on DoorDash but I knew I needed to visit in person when I saw the food. I'm glad I went inside. We met Joe he was a sweetheart. Beautiful personality. He made us some drinks at the bar they were good. The cheesesteaks were packed with meat and flavor. Fries were good with the cheese and bacon but I normally ask for shredded cheese. We got an order of the garlic Parmesan wings. I like dry Garlic Parmesan these were wet. Not a problem because the place was very clean. The service was awesome. Parking can be troublesome but we found a spot. This place makes for a wonderful hidden gem. Thank you Joe and cooks for taking care of us. That sandwich was so big I had to take it to go to finish it.

Had a craving for a cheesesteak and Monti's was recommended to me. I thought my GPS was crazy because I couldn't find it. It's on a side street. Parking was easy enough. I walked in and it's a nice neighborhood spot with a full bar. I was greeted by a nice guy that was working the bar. All the tvs had sports playing, if you're into sports you should check it out. He handed me a menu and I ordered a 12 inch cheesesteak hoagie with white American cheese and onion rings. The hoagie also included lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions and mayo. Since I had a 10 minute wait, I ordered a beer. Can't remember what kind but it was good. I went home and tore into that cheesesteak it was really good. The beef was plentiful which it had more onion. ( I'm an onion freak.) The onion rings were good but the dipping sauce helps elevate the rings. The 12 inch was big enough that I was able to cut it in half and have a good midnight snack.

Good authentic Philly cheesesteak that you don't find too often around Chicago. Used to live going there when we lived closer.

Ask the Community - Monti's

Do you have the Eagles games on? Do we need to come early to get a seat?

Always have the eagles on. We have NFL Sunday ticket. Usually can get a seat but it does fill up occasionally.

Does this place do carryout?

Yessir. I get carry out all of the time.

Can I bring kids/kid friendly?

For sure. I brought my 2 9-year olds. No place better in Chicago to educate the little ones on how to make a proper cheese steak!

Although we could order food for delivery, my bud and I decided to walk over to place our order direct and then bring the food back to the bar. This gave me the opportunity to check out the eatery, which also sells all sorts of fun food snacks, beverages and products. There are a few tables should you wish to dine there. I ordered a half sandwich and my lovely wife wanted an order of cheese fries. I figured the half "Classic Reuben" would be a nice snack, but the portion looked more like a full sandwich rather than a mere half. The Reuben is served warm and tasty with corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and Russian dressing. The cheese fries were generously covered with cheese sauce, and fortunately we ate them fairly quickly so they did not become too soggy. Our friends ordered full sandwiches, and so each sandwich seemed like two sandwiches in size. Needless to say, they had leftover sandwiches to take home. Ironically, I do not believe anything we ordered contained any pickle, oh well.

My order took about 7 minutes. The bread was soft and chewy. The flavor of the meat was good. I overall enjoyed my sandwich. The shop itself is also a grocery store with limited items. I appreciate the elevated chips, desserts and gelato for sale. The cake looked so good but was trying to be good so didn't grab a slice of cake. All in all the my lunch was satisfying.

For only $7, the Italian beef sandwich was incredibly tender, juicy, savory, and packed with flavor. It's a small, no-frills, old-school spot where you walk in, know what you want, pay cash, and watch your food come together almost instantly. I got the Italian beef and fries. The beef was easily my favorite. It had so much flavor, and getting the bun dipped was absolutely the right move. The fries were simple but hit the spot; crispy, fresh, and basically what you'd expect a fast-food fry would taste like. What stood out to me most was how genuinely original the whole place feels. The little building, the outdoor tables, the cash-only setup, the fast-moving line, and the way everyone seems to know exactly what they're doing all add to the experience. You order, they make it right in front of you. Pick it up and go. I can see why people make a point of coming here. It's not just about getting an Italian beef sandwich; it feels like getting a little piece of Chicago. The food is simple, but it has so much character. Nothing feels overdone or reinvented; it's just a classic done really well. Definitely a place I'd come back to next time I'm in Chicago.
