The sandwich thooo my goodness it's a cheesesteak with jalapeño poppers, fries, and mozzarella, and I modified it and asked for Mac and cheese balls. "Count Memories, not Calories" is one hell of a motto for a place called "Fat Shack". At first I was skeptical of this place, just seemed like another one of those over the top places who serve mediocre food, but at the end I left surprised and delighted then I could have imagined. I ended up here one late Tuesday night after working into the night I was a bit hungry. Fatshack is open late so its great for those insomniacs or late night crowd after you've hit the clubs. I got the wings, "The single" burger and of course their famous / infamous deep fried orders. I judge a place by their wings and Fatshacks wings were delicious. Crispy and juicy and perfectly sauced. They come with honey mustard and ranch for those undecided and torn between the two. The burger was a bit of an afterthought on my end, but I am glad I didn't pass up. The single as it implies is a single patty option. Meat was perfectly cooked, bun was soft. I got extra mayo because i'm making memories not counting calories right? And of course- the *chefs kiss* deep fried oreos. These surprisingly hold up well to transport as I sat on the CTA clutching my bag of deep fried oreos like some family heirloom. I got food from this place once before during the height of the pandemic. It wasn't bad at all then. But... I ordered last night and: burger and Philly cheesesteak meat had no taste at all, fries arrived completely unsalted and not cooked very well, got burger sauce on the burger even though I asked for none. AVOID‼ I finally understand the reviews that say if I could give this place 0 stars I would because this was actually the worst service and experience I've ever received. I'm not much of a yelper (only when I get exceptional service/food, or unfortunately the opposite) and tonight was a huge disappointment. To start I understand that places that stay open late tend to have slower service which is more than fine with me. What isn't okay is the way the 2 girls working would talk to the customers.. for example saying if we wanted our food we can go back there and help. It started when I ordered my food and within 2 minutes my friend ordered his food (on a self checkout kiosk) I received my food within 10-15 mins and it wasn't much to brag about honestly. But then after we ordered and sat down they started to get a little rush of customers and kept telling people it was going to take 30 minutes to a hour for their orders. Remind you that my friend already ordered before this rush happened. So we waited for over an hour for a burger fries a drink and fried oreos while we watched people that ordered after us get their food. Finally we decided to get up and say something because at this point it was pretty obvious they forgot about his food. After waiting another 10 minutes before finally being rudely told by an employee with pink hair that they still haven't started the burgers and if we wanted them faster we could go back in the kitchen and help. The restaurant was not busy, and there was a short wait for the food. It was literally a short wait because the food was served right after a few minutes. The burger looks nice, with a nice portion, and it is also not too greasy. It basically tastes good and is definitely reasonable for its price. Their prices are reasonable for every meal that they offer. I also like the mozzarella sticks, and I definitely like them better than the burger. The burger was really good though, and I would definitely order it again. I finished eating when I remembered that my friend also told me to get their wings because, according to her, they were delicious.
