I truly wish I could give 0 stars. My family and I have been using the Braintree Montillios for years. Yesterday as I was picking up a cake order and I experienced the worst customer service I have ever encountred! The young girls working there seem nice enough but the older lady that helped me was the rudest and unfriendliest person!! In fact she was reprimanding the young girls when I walked in. I was standing there in front of them for almost five minutes with no one else in line before the older lady even acknowledged me so rudely so that kind of set the tone of what was to come.. She was in a foul mood and maybe that's her usual demeanor...who knows. In any event she truly has no business dealing with people and especially customers! Not only did she give us the wrong cake, the cake completely fell apart as soon as I got home. I placed it in my fridge immediately when I got home after picking it up about 8-10 minutes later. I have never experienced this before. I did notice that the bottom of the cake box was wet as I carried it out from the store. In hindsight I should have went right back and asked why that was. I chalked it up to maybe it was because it was in their fridge or was placed on top of something else in their fridge. When we called to complain the next day it was apparent that the same rude older lady got on the phone and tried to blame me saying I left it in a warm fridge or left it my car too long. Really??? Thank you but I do have some common sense and would never do that. Why would I risk getting a sloppy messy cake?? It was for a really special occasion which was ruined with a crappy cake! It could be forgiven if this lady didnt make it worse by putting the blame on me and not even acknowledging that she gave us the wrong cake and the problem with the cake stemmed from them. I knew this place was very overpriced but kept going there because they made good cakes in the past and it was 10 minutes from my home. I will now travel the extra miles and go to Whites!! read more

Purchased cake pops for my daughters birthday. Pops were cracked and not cooked all the way through. One pop had some kind of unidentifiable black stuff on It. NOT worth the money. Had such high expectations for a company that is pretty well known. Will never use them again and will also be passing the word onto family and friends. Such a disappointment!!!!!!! Customer service skills need much improvement! Was offered a 20% discount but declined. I had no choice but to take them as the party was starting in 20 min. I am embarrassed that I sent these pops home with kids after finding out the were undercooked after I had already left the bakery. read more

The first time I went here a couple of weeks ago, I waited almost over half an hour for a chicken pesto sandwich. There was no line at all during my entire wait. No one told me how long it was going to be for at least 20 minutes. The girls behind the counter had time to chat while I was waiting. Whoever took my order was very polite. I have no idea what took so Maybe they were plucking the feathers off the chicken or planting basil for the pesto. I don't know. The sand which was absolutely delicious but if I decide to try this place again, I might call ahead and wait a long time in the comfort of my own home. read more

I have had a bad experience every time I've gone, I always thought it was just that someone was having a bad day but i have had consistently bad service. I take a number when I walk in then people who didn't take numbers are served first. I ordered pizza and when it was handed to me it was sideways so all the toppings fell off. I found something black frozen into the ice cube in my drink. My drink was all ice filled to the brim to the point where I couldn't even put the straw in. The short skinny girl with dark hair who works there always has a bad attitude and clearly does not want to be there and doesn't care about the quality of the food she is giving to the customers. Every time I go I have hope they will be better but I'm always let down and waste my money because I can't even eat the food they give me. read more

I usually frequent the Quincy location but I just happened to be in the area. The pastry I got here was not as fresh, pizza was sub par compared to their other location as well. What really got me was the lack of customer service. I was not greeted for a while by any of the employees and it seemed like I was inconveniencing them. The girl working also did not know what a lot of the items were but also didn't bother asking for help from the other girls working. The box of baked goods I received was not packaged nicely and I would be embarrassed if I were bringing it to someone. If i didn't have such great experiences with the Quincy store, I would give this less ratings. Hopefully they improve. Will stop by again if I'm in the area to give it another shot. read more

I recently went to Montilios in Braintree to do a cake. I have to say who new that there was one there and its so convenient to just go into the Plaza where Burlington Coat Factory is. We were greeted right away and the girls behind the counter offered us coffee, tea or hot chocolate while we were waiting for Frank. Customer service was great while we were waiting. Joking with the staff Just so that you are aware its not a small spot there are a few tables set up so that people could eat there. I noticed that they have all the Italian sweets, cupcakes and pastries that we are all used too as well as gorgeous cakes appearing across a flat screen TV, Frank is a great guy. He not only understood the concept of the cake we were doing but steered me away from cupcakes and shared my enthusiasm which was great. Plus ideas for props and colors and oh my GOD I am excited about my cake. Oh did I mention he has emailed me reminders and followed up with me, Other times that I have seen there are rotisserie chicken which you can call ahead to have it prepared and they do serve a small lunch menu that includes pizza, calzones. I can't wait to see how the final product of my cake comes out but I am very excited about the prospect. I bought 12 cupcakes and 1 cake from Montilios in Braintree. The cake and cupcakes were good but the service sucked. I was overcharged for the cupcakes and when I questioned the price I was told that the price charged was correct. There was no sign posted for the prices of the cupcakes. A month later I went back for another cake and noticed the prices on the cupcakes were $2.89 each and a month prior I was charged $3.89 each. Prices were posted this time... I asked the lady at the register if the cupcake prices had changed with the last month and she said "nope, they're still the same". I told her what happened a month earlier and she told me to contact the manager, Alyssa, the next business day. I have called that manager several times and each time I got the message that she will call me back or that she is not in today. It's been a couple of months so I stopped trying to get my $12 back but I hate the fact that I overpaid an extra $12 for cupcakes. At the time of the purchase I questioned the price but did not want to create a scene in the bakery so I did not fight him on the price. Shame on me for not fighting for my $12 bucks but shame on them for not double checking when I questioned the price and shame on them for not calling me back when I left several messages for the manager... I go to the gym across the parking lot, so I have stopped by Montilios a few times for pastry. The service is atrocious. The counter is manned by teenage girls who are slow and have no knowledge of the product whatsoever. Tonight I figured I would order a cake for the holidays. I started asking questions about size and servings. The girl kept having to run behind the counter to look at a chart for every question I asked. without me being able to finish a complete thought. This was coupled by dirty looks. Finally she gave me an answer I didn't like and I said thanks and walked out without ordering. I previously gave a review of the Montilios in Quincy which had the same poor customer service issues. It was last minute and I guess I became desperate. Never again. read more

We recently used Montilio's for a company function and they did an amazing job! They arrived a couple of hours in advance and set up a copper wood fired pizza oven (that is housed in an antique wagon) along with beautifully decorated wood tables in our parking lot. Watching the preparation got the employee excitement level going and they didn't let us down. We had as much pizza and salad as we could eat topped off with delicious cannnolis for dessert. The staff was very friendly and professional which make the event even nicer. I would do it again in a heartbeat! read more

Called the Brockton location to schedule a delivery for a birthday cake and pastries they told me to call the Braintree location because the delivery address was Braintree. The Braintree location told me to call the Brockton location. After I explained that I already spoke to someone at that location she took down my information and told me that she will have someone call me to set up the delivery and order. I never received a call. I ordered from Sweet in Boston and oaid the extra 30$ delivery fee. Montillios FAIL. You lost out on a $200 order. read more

I ordered a Pizza from Montillios in Braintree, MA. I have never had such terrible pizza in my life. I called Momtillios and told them about the pizza. They told me that I would have to speak to the manager. I tried to get in touch, however the manger was never there. The only way I got a refund was to demand it. I got paid with their cake products. With this type of service, they will go out of business sooner or later. read more

I will NEVER go back to this place EVER. The worst customer service that I have ever had was at this place. I walked in and there were 2 teenage girls behind the counter. Not one of them bothered to look at me or even ask me if I needed help. I looked around and walked up to the 2 girls who were loudly talking about anything but there jobs. The tall girl looked at me like I was bothering her and said rudely, "do you want anything" Really? That's how they train workers to talk to customers? I paused for a second and said, no thanks and I walked out never to return. I am willing to bet both of them were family members of the owners. Great cake - awful customer service! I had a $75 gift card I needed to use so I ordered cupcakes that came to $115. I ordered over the phone - which took 3 times to get someone available to even take the order (rude too). She insisted I needed to pay in full but I was not available to go in to pay with the gift card until the day I was picking up. We both agreed to charge my card with the remaining balance, $115 - $75 = $40... I hung up and a few days later I noticed they had charged my card some odd amount $119 or something.. I went in to pickup the cupcakes and they insisted they only charged my card the $40. I pulled up my bank account for proof. She told me they need to review this and call me.. so I left them the gift card and left with my cupcakes. Couple hours later I never heard so I had to call them (ridiculous!) They told me they are refunding my card but need my card again to charge the right amount (they should have been free by now!) I asked her to send me receipts of ALL transactions. As the $40 charge went on right away but took the refund a couple of days to get. Almost all the staff I dealt with were rude. The cupcakes were a big hit, but I will not be returning. No cupcake is worth that hassle. This is the Braintree location, not sure how the others are. read more

This review is long overdue...my daughter was married a couple of months ago, and had her heart set on a cake from KM. I insisted that she go to Montilio's for a tasting just to compare. Well, there was no comparison. We went to the Braintree store for a tasting, and tried about ten cakes (all were wonderful). My daughter wasn't crazy about the frosting, and wanted a pina colada cake. So, Patty (absolutely amazing) told us to come back the following week and she would have a different frosting, and a pina colada cake. KM had a much more limited selection, and treated us like second class citizens since it was a very small wedding (only 40 people). They also would not make the cake the way my daughter wanted it (3 small leyers instead of two). In addition, Montilio's cakes tasted better (isn't that what it's all about?) So, even though we had a very small wedding, Patty made my daughter feel as though she was the only bride around. The cake was exactly what she wanted, was absolutely beautiful, and delicious (and cost less that KM)!! read more

I enjoy their pizza and cupcakes. I enjoyed the basil flavor that gave the sauce a fresh taste. I'm sorry to see that the pizza fell short for some people. I'm glad that I can pop in and get what I need weather it be from the bakery or the prepared food sections. I've stopped in a few times to pick up cookies or cupcakes and they are always delicious. Picked up a cake for my boyfriend on his birthday and it was just ok...on the dry side and there could have been more frosting. However their pizza is phenomenal! Thin crust, just the right amount of sauce and fresh toppings. My favorite is the Meatball and Ricotta! Haven't tried their Italian foods or deli but it looks really good...I'll get to it one of these days. For now, it's all about the pizza! read more

When their web site says if you don't see the cake you want - just ask, that's just what they mean. my grandson wanted a cake with the cartoon character "Flash" as the theme. I went to their store and gave them a picture to work from. Then 2 days before the birthday I was told I didn't use the correct character. I called the store and Nikki was able to go on line and find the correct character and save the birthday party for a 5 yr old.. Oh by the way - their cakes are really good too. read more

We had to do everything over the phone and through the internet, and they accomplished exactly what we wanted. They did an excellent job!! went to there new lunch cafe in Braintree and got 2 pieces of vegetable lasagne, heated it up 2 hours later and my kitchen smelled so bad, I had to bring it outside to the barrel, I called and they said that it is stouffers frozen lasagne, there new lunch cafe and they don't even make there own food, they serve frozen stouffers lasagna. read more

Monday night I was craving chicken wings so I called the Braintree location and placed an order of the Teriyaki Chicken wings. The wings were not what I expected . They were in a soupy mix of Teriyaki sauce and they did not smell or look remotely appealing. I called the bakery and told the girl on the phone that I was not satisfied with the order. She told me that they were closing and the manager had left for the evening. I gave the girl my name and told her that I would return on my home from work the next day. I showed up the next night and asked for the manager, conveniently she told me that the manager had stepped out and would be back 1 hour. Frustrated, once again I gave the girl my name and phone number expecting to receive a call that evening. I waited by the phone... no call. The next day I called again and the manger was not available. Needless to I will not be going back. Save your money and go to Fratellis in Quincy or Weymouth. Well, Monts, you've managed to screw up yet another bakery order. While you pasteries are very good, actually receiving them as ordered seems to be an ongoing struggle for this bakery. This is the second time in as many months that the place has screwed up a pretty simple order. Last month was a cake, this month, sorry folks, your Thanksgiving pie is not the one you asked for, but a substitution pie from the limited offerings Montillios had on hand. Oh, and no complimentary extra something for the mistake. That would be customer service, which clearly Montillios does not practice. I don't even mind their prices, which are definitely on the high end, if they can just deliver to me the items that I paid for. The problem is not with the sweet teen who took my order and read it back to me - it's with whoever is filling the order, which I was told is at their Brockton location. This is not rocket science, people, read the order and then make what the words say! Do they speak/read English in the Brockton location? Maybe they should ask the employees before they hire them. Regardless, there will be no third strike for these dopes, next stop, Konditor Meister. Perhaps the German bakery can do what this Itailian one cannot - give the customer what she has paid for. read more
