In true Montilios fashion the cake was not done as ordered. Asked for a name to be written in fondant across the front instead its written with frosting. Cashier proceeds to say that they were previously out of fondant. That would be something a customer should be contacted about hence why a number is provided for orders. This was the last time being disappointed by Montilios. There's poor customer service and above all Montilios is beyond overpriced. I will never order anything from this establishment again. Really disappointing experience for our cake tasting. We waited over 45 minutes despite showing up for our scheduled time. During this point not one person came to speak with and apologize for the wait. When we finally sat with your consultant, we were quickly shown the book and explained what came in our package. We were then brought cake samples, which were actually pretty good which I wasn't expecting after reading complaints of dryness. This is when our meeting got even better. Our consultant sat with a couple who came in about 5 minutes into our tasting, leaving my fiancé and I awkwardly sitting there. To top it off, she came over to take the book of cakes that we were looking at, to show this couple. I gave this Braintree bakery a single photo of an inspiration 2 weeks before my wedding, and I couldn't believe how amazing it turned out! By far the easiest experience I've ever had with a vendor of any sort. The woman (Oceania?) was patient, set up a delicious cake tasting session, which was very well assorted and thought out. We went here for a cake tasting for our wedding. While the cake was delicious, it wasn't as moist as I wanted it to be. The price was pretty steep for the taste of everything. Nikki was very friendly and designed a beautiful cake for us. She didn't make us feel pressured into putting a deposit on the cake right away and I'm glad she did because it gave us time to really think about what we were going to serve to our guests. While we didn't end up choosing them for our cake, they are definitely a company I would recommend to a couple planning their wedding. I am basing this review off of my tasting experience only- I will update once the wedding has come and gone. First off, I live in California, but I'm getting married back in good old MA. Wedding planning from 3,000 miles away is a ginormous headache. I called Montilio's on a whim on a Monday to book a tasting appointment for the next day- which was the ONLY day I was available for a tasting. I happened to be in MA for only a couple of days on a last minute trip. The woman I spoke with on the phone was very understanding and got me an appointment at the new Braintree location that fit my ridiculous request. The bakery itself had a great selection of pastries, cupcakes, pizza and other varieties of food- I would have loved to try a few other items on the menu but I had to save room for cake. The gentleman who handled our tasting was very helpful in the cake design process. I hadn't thought very much about what I wanted because the appointment was so last minute, but once I described the wedding colors and venue he came up with an excellent cake design that DIDN'T break the bank (it was $140 cheaper than the previous quote I had received from another bakery!) And then... the CAKE. My mom and I had 8 different flavors to try and good sized pieces of each- we could have easily brought another 2 mouths with us and still had plenty to taste. The majority of them had vanilla buttercream as the outer frosting, unless otherwise specified. We both loved the lemon cake with orange buttercream filling (I think that's what it was) but I know lemon isn't always a crowd pleaser so we won't be serving it at the wedding. Our next runners up were the yellow cake with fresh strawberry/whipped vanilla buttercream and grand marnier filling- a definite crowd pleaser, and the marble cake with mocha chocolate truffle filling. YUM. The chocolate cake was also delicious but we think it will be heavy for an august wedding (the marble mocha will hopefully be just enough chocolate for the chocolate lovers), as well as the red velvet with cream cheese frosting. There wasn't a single flavor we tried that we DIDN'T like, we just had to choose which ones we liked most. Other flavors included were carrot with cream cheese frosting, white cake with raspberry/vanilla buttercream filling, and white cake with ricotta and chocolate chip filling. The best surprise of all of this came from the fact that I found out Montilios can make a croque-en-bouche! (That's french for really ridiculously awesome tower of cream puffs- I had to google it, myself). My fiance's mother is from France so he wanted one for the groom's cake but figured we would have to go to a French specialty bakery to get it. As soon as I mentioned the French background our tasting host lit up and said "We can make the tower!" and I thought he was referring to the Eiffel Tower so I mentioned the croque-en-bouche and he said "Oh, we've got you COVERED." Two birds with one stone and another box I can check off my list. Overall, I had a great experience with my tasting, which I didn't even think I would get to enjoy living 3,000 miles away from the wedding venue. I can't wait for the wedding! read more

I went here today for a cake tasting to decide if I wanted to use them for my wedding cake. I had already tried one other bakery in the area and did not like them at all, so I was really hoping the cakes here would be good. I can honestly say Montilios far exceeded my expectations! They let us try a ton of different cakes and they were all fantastic! I had trouble narrowing it down to three different kinds for our layers and they even let us take new pieces home with us. So, I went to Montilio's about a half hour ago. I wanted the traditional Meat Orinccini which they didn't have. O.K., no problem. So, I got the Buffalo Orinccini. However, I asked the Girl for lot's of Marinara Sauce on them. When she went to get them I reminded her that I would love lot's of Sauce. Got home, what do I see? Less than a Tea Spoon of Sauce. I chose Montilio's for my wedding cake. We loved the tasting and chose 2 flavors for our cake. We worked with one of their consultants on the design of the cake and chose a gold detail based on a picture I brought in. The cake was delicious, but the gold detail did not look gold at all. It was a dark bronze color that was not at all what I wanted. I wish the consultant had told us that it would not look like the photo I brought in and I would have chosen a different design. The pastries are amazing and so is the pizza! Unfortunately the customer service and setup is severely lacking. With Covid you would think there would be a better setup line wise. You just walk in and stand there until someone *finally acknowledges you*. The layout at the entrance has the potential to be SO much better and organized. Every time I'm in there nobody has any idea whose next in line and it alway take forever. How about simple signage? Enter here, or line starts here and have it actually make some sense. Do you want your customers to go in front of the pastry counter? Register? Door? Some type of instruction or organization is always appreciated. Every time I'm in there I can't believe how long it takes! Even when they are not busy and there's only 1-2 other customers it still takes FOREVER! I went in this morning for example: no line. Just me. One employee is on the phone near the cakes (obviously busy with an order) , no problem. Then you have 2 other chicks to the right toward the boxes not even acknowledging me. Someone else comes in behind me. The girl on the phone had to put the people on hold, walk over to the two girls and ask for help at the counter. Really???? Those 2 saw myself and the other customer. Isn't the purpose of your bakery to actually sell your products??? That can't happen if nobody acknowledges us! I received wonderful service here when I placed an order for a 16 inch round cake for my baby shower. And I placed my order 3 weeks out from my event, unfortunately when my husband went to pick up our cake it was no where to be found... The staff was very sweet in trying to find our cake with no success. Apparently, unbeknownst to me I wasn't aware that the cakes were not made at this location but the Brockton location. I'm assuming my order got lost in translation. The manager at the Brockton location was very nice and fully refunded us our money for the cake. However, It was very disappointing that I did not have a cake for my shower. They did supply us with a small 8 inch cake and a small tray of cookies and cupcakes which were okay... Pizza?! At a bakery?! YES, the pizza was awesome. It had a bit of Lynwood's Pizza taste to it and it was dirt cheap at $2.55 for a giant slice. Never realized Montilios was Braintree's 4 years in a row for best pizza. Seriously, at our next party events, we're ordering pizza from here. Montilio's in Braintree is a great establishment, delicious coffee, lunch menu, bakery, and desserts. My only complaint with this place is the girls behind the counter. I find more often then not when I go in there, because it is so busy there is usually a couple people in line in front of me, there will be 3 or 4 girls working, but only one of them helping the customers in line. This is totally unacceptable, there is more then enough of them to efficiently get customers moving but they don't do anything about it. I cannot go here for even a simple coffee without having at least ten minutes to spare because that will be how long it is before I am acknowledged. Aside this lack of service everything else about Montilios is guarenteeing it to be a staple in Braintree for years to come. read more

Got my daughter a Cinderella doll cake for her 2nd birthday. It was beautifully and skillfully decorated. The chocolate cake was moist and rich. The buttercream frosting had great flavor and wasn't overly sweet. We chose a raspberry/choc buttercream filling - delicious! The cake was large and easily feeds 20-30 (they have larger sizes too). It was four layers of cake with three layers of filling. It was a beautiful 3d custom cake. My daughters face lit up when she saw it! Everyone at the party admired it and thought it was delicious.
