They went out of their way to make sure we still got everything we needed, and on Easter Sunday of all days. That kind of customer care is rare. It would have been so easy for them to simply say "sorry, we're closed" -- but instead they showed up for us in a way we won't forget. And the food? Absolutely delicious. Our pies were fresh and perfectly made, and the carrot birthday cake -- a special request from the birthday boy himself -- was absolutely stunning. Everything tasted like it was baked with real love and care, and it made our Easter celebration (and birthday!) that much more special. Prices are fair no complaints there. I ordered a cookies and cream cupcake and a salted caramel cupcake which is simply a chocolate cupcake and a vanilla cupcake respectively topped with flavored buttercream frosting. The actual base cake was baked nicely fluffy and moist firm enough to not crumble in your hands like a lot of cupcakes do but not too firm where you feel like you're eating something that has been sitting out for a while or just came out of the fridge. I enjoyed the cake. The frosting/flavoring was super underwhelming. After you taste it you realize it's more so there for the aesthetic and doesn't really contribute anything to the flavor. In a blind taste test you'd think it was just buttercream frosting with decorations. It doesn't add anything. I could've just gone with a plain chocolate and plain vanilla. The frosting was hard and felt like something out of the fridge and pretty much inedible because of the sheer amount of it. Quite the opposite of the cake that it tops. Not the best cupcake not the worst wish I tried some of the other pastries there because they did look appealing but the basics of what I got being so lackluster won't drive me to return. However if I do I'll try a cake slice or something and see how that is.

I savored my cool treat first by walking along the grounds and watching a bunch of cows huddled in an enclosed pen, then wondered to see the baby calf's! Once done with my Ice Cream I went in the general store and browsed its items. I walked over to a window where they processed the cows milk! It was a day trip here at HORNSTRA FARMS. This place must be always busy since I noticed car traffic going in and out for as long as I was there! Friendly, helpful staff (even super early on a Sunday) and the donuts were seriously the best we've had in the area. We got glazed chocolate, toasted coconut, Boston cream, honey dip, and the sour cream donut. The toasted coconut and Boston cream were favorites. Ordered a hazelnut iced coffee and a regular iced--I still prefer my Dunkin iced but I was happy. Can't wait to come back!
