I really enjoy the food and service at Knead. The ambiance is comfortable, and the staff works hard is an friendly. I like the collab with the artist that makes the cards and stickers. Most importantly I see the food staff wearing gloves and washing their hands. The counter help was friendly and attentive. The early gray morning bun was delicious as it offered that hint of tea mixed into the sugary goodness of the morning bun. Perfect flakey texture inside. A welcome addition to the Front Street area, Knead is an upscale bakery with an array of baked goods both sweet and savory. They have a full compliment of espresso drinks both hot and cold along with a unique prepared food menu consisting primarily of sourdough tartines (open faced sandwiches). First time here and the food was really good. Love sourdough so enjoyed their take on avocado toast with tomato, egg, and bacon. The latte was great too. Croque Monsieur is on the menu too so I will definitely be back to give that a try. read more

This has the potential to be a fun little stop for great sourdough and more. The bakery gods have channeled Victoria Donnelly to answer the call for more bakeries in the South shore. You would be forgiven if you mistook this cute spot for a live reenactment of something out of a Strawberry Shortcake cartoon -- bright colors, scrabble board-type menu and communal seating complement the vibe on Scituate's beachy Main Street. So far, the sourdough is the star here. The fermented, chewy texture hits just right. The tartines are colorful, but, apart from the bread, I found the flavors to be a bit boring. However, I took home a loaf for more and found the sliced sourdough to be a great complement to a fruity jam. Service was prompt and friendly -- the many associates did their best to move the line but that inevitably led to a slight bottleneck at the checkout. Certainly something that can be addressed over time. The ambition of the place is inspiring. I'm hoping it holds up against the more established bread makers in the area. Ms. Donnelly with her Food Network and other chops certainly has the pedigree. She has also lined up a list of collaborations -- New Hampshire coffee and organic soup maker to start. While her offerings seem a bit pricy for the area, hopefully her experience and partnerships will allow her to scale quickly and find her rhythm. Open until 5:00 but only sell food until 4:00. Stopped in at 3:45 to check out the menu planning to come back to get dinner to go. No indication anywhere that kitchen would close. Ordered a drink across the street and returned at 4:15 to wait 10 minutes in line behind someone placing a detailed catering order, only to be told that I couldn't order anything even though they were open for 35 more minutes. Also online menu is more extensive than in the store, so difficult to plan ahead. read more

The best croissants you can get on the South Shore - no question. They're always surprising me with new seasonal treats, and their Biscoff cupcakes have a permanent home in my heart (and stomach). We had a little bit of their catering for a Christmas party this year - a glorious charcuterie spread, the aforementioned cupcakes, and mini sausage rolls which were a HUGE hit. Such a lovely team of people behind that counter, bakers and owner included, and the place is gorgeous, clean, and bright. So excited to see what's next for Knead! read more

No parking, prices are super high , felt rushed in giving my order. Wasn't happy after waiting 30 minutes and to find they gave my sandwich to someone else. NO APOLOGY. Treated me like it was my fault. Waited another 15/20 minutes for my sandwich to find out their sandwiches are only a half sandwich . Decor is pretty and pastry's looked amazing. Walked in for a bun and coffee. Waited 10 minutes. Bun was excellent. Wanted to purchase fresh bread, but all sold out by 11am. Must get here at 7am to purchase bread or make a reservation for the next day. Good deal if you are local. read more

Very friendly, super cute spot in Scituate. Stopped in for an afternoon caffeine pick me up. Lots of choices, ordered a london fog..was perfectly hot and blanced, not too sweet. I had the mini red velvet cupcakes, they were the right size bite of cream cheese and cake. The menu has unique toast combos, bowls, breads and pastries. I will be back for sure! read more
