There's nothing like the dopamine rush of eating a croissant midway through a bike ride along the coast but I was left feeling unsatisfied after the one I had at French Memories. My plain croissant, instead of being flaky and light, was very dense and tough. My jaw got a nice workout. They nailed the butter because the bottom seeped through the paper that it came wrapped in. I usually judge any French bakery by its OG plain croissant (see Colette in Medford) and this one fell short. (Maybe I got the wrong thing because my husband couldn't stop raving about his strawberry version and the other reviews keep mentioning the almond croissant.) I'd want to come back and give it another chance as this was a nice little pit stop during the ride.

This is a cute French bakery. The bakery cases are filled with treats that look absolutely amazing. We came here for breakfast and each had a croissant sandwich. The croissant was fluffy and fresh, but these sandwiches were tiny! I did love how many people came in to the shop and were clearly recognized by staff. It was such a friendly atmosphere.

Got some really good Pasteries here recently. The tarts were the best things I tried here. Service was friendly and helpful.

I live in fear of this place closing. Honestly, Cohasset village would be very UNspecial without it. I have purchased lunches here when I first moved to town and sat outside and watched the kids arrive who bicycled up from sailing lessons. Recently, I purchased four little cakes (as samplers---they also had large cakes) for a friend's birthday as well as a vegetable quiche and two pieces of tart for a senior couple I was to visit. Both recipients have been gushing about the cakes/quiche/tart via text ever since. And the prices are what you would expect of premium products but no more. I have also purchased the molded salted butter, because it seemed so unlike anything we usually buy. And...the owners/staff members have French accents. Thank you, French Memories!

Just got back from The French Quarter in S.C. I did not find an almond croissant that could compare with French Memories in Cohasset.

Lovely people, delicious food. The Raspberry Linzer was excellent and the Spinach croissant was a perfect breakfast! High quality food, unfussy and charming. Going back tomorrow!

    Traditional "Wild Berry Tart"

Preordered a Thanksgiving gift dessert from them (Cohasset, not Duxbury) that came out looking like garbage. Which one of these looks like a "Wild Berry Tart" (rasberry, blackberry, strawberry, blueberry)?? No email contacts, no messenger for FB page, no voicemail to attempt resolution.

The best strawberry rhubarb cake and French brioche ham and cheese croissant. Driving up from the Hull, Massachusetts to Cohasset area was a pleasant trip to view more of the beach scenery. It was gorgeous and the trip at this local French pastry shop made the morning complete. The strawberry rhubarb was decadent and savory, like eating a ripe summer fruit. Same goes for my ham and cheese croissant. Flaky, crispy, spitfire roasted ham with a satisfying melted cheese perfection. Wow were we glad we didn't settle for fast food breakfast. Smart move for our stomachs and taste buds on that fine wintry beach morning.

I went here while on vacation with family. We needed bread for sandwiches and also really wanted coffee. I wouldn't have found French Memories if it weren't for Yelp, since I do not know the area of Cohasset very well. The interior is well decorated and feels authentically French. There are lots of pastries and tarts and a couple of bread choices. The chocolate croissants are delicious. The chocolate chip cookies were a little crunchy for my taste but still good. We got a loaf of the French country bread and it was fantastic. Light and airy and very fresh. The one issue was the coffee was not made correctly and took a while. I think the gentleman making them was still learning, and we were in no rush so it wasn't a big deal. I would recommend heading down the street to a coffee shop for coffee, but definitely get all your pastry and bread needs at French Memories.

Really cute bakery in down town Cohasset. They have beautiful croissants from plain to savory and sweet flavors. It's a really casual spot with indoor and outdoor seating. I don't have a huge breakfast tooth so I went for a great bakery sandwich with fresh baked baguette, Bri, lettuce, onion and some of the most spicy Dijon mustard I have ever had but I loved it. They had many other great sandwiches, soups and salads.

    Fantastic-looking tarts!

The interior is pretty basic, small tables and small chairs, so a person of substance such as myself didn't find the seating comfortable. I tried: - French onion soup: this should have been an easy win. I found the Gruyere cheese to be overly thick, and the broth to be heavy handed on the wine. - Steak tartare: this was a good dish. The beef was thin cut, smooth, and the egg was cooked just right so the yolk added richness that then got offset by the capers. Due to the richness, you may actually find that this could be all you need for a meal, despite it looking small. - Croque Madame: le sigh, what a failure this sandwich was. Over easy egg? Not today, over medium, so not much runny yolk but a thicker one. This is a gigantic salt bomb, in addition. They serve your water in tiny glasses and every bite led to downing an entire glass of water. It's good they were on top of refilling the glasses, but even then I finished a quarter of this before I couldn't take it any more. I did saunter over to the counter where they have a lot of good looking pastries, so we'll see if the ones I bought end up redeeming this place. As it stands, I can't recommend this establishment unless you'd like to try the tartare.

I've also never had anyone tell us they do not like the restaurant once they try our recommendation. It's a small, cozy, dimly lit restaurant located at a corner near MGH. Street parking may be tough but there are garages around. The hospital garage may be a bit pricey; I believe the restaurant can validate for another garage nearby. Our must order items from the menu include seared foie gras (5/5), duck magret a l'Orange (5/5), escargot (5/5), french onion soup (5/5, and steak tartare (4/5). I love using their bread to dip with the escargot and eat with the foie gras as they do not come with carbs. During my last visit, I tried the boneless short ribs Bourguignon, I felt like it was a bit dry. I loved the potato croquette that came with the dish though, creamy on the inside with a crispy exterior. The meat did not fall off and melt, maybe it was just that one day. We looked online for local restaurants to dine at during our stay. Neither my girlfriend or I have ever gone to a French restaurant, so we decided on The Metro Bistrot, due to all the fantastic reviews. I called and spoke with Jay (chef and owner) a week prior to make the reservation. We took an Uber from the hotel, as it's BYOB and brought a couple of bottles of wine. This was a Saturday before a big snow storm the following day. I think due to this, the restaurant wasn't as busy as usual. We ended up being seated in the back room all to ourselves. It was a very nice room that had about 4 tables. Stephanie, our server was an absolute delight! Turns out she works for the hotel as well and she's the one I spoke with when we booked the room. She opened our Beaujolais for us and brought some wine glasses. She kept the bottle chilled in the fridge for us. She went over some of the specials being prepared that night and was able to make some nice recommendations. My girlfriend ended up with the special seafood soup special with a lobster stock as a base. I ordered the escargot. Both were absolutely fantastic. She kept our bread basket filled with wonderful fresh warm bread to soak up all the goodness of the soup and escargot. My girlfriend ordered the boar shank and I ordered the stuffed quail that was stuffed with foie gras and pate. The boar meat fell right of the bone and was some of the most tender meat we've ever had. Both dishes were phenomenal. Jay stopped by our table to chat. He's super nice and even took some photos with us. We ordered 3 different kinds of cheeses prior to ordering dessert. All three we ordered were great! Stephanie also brought us a bowl of crackers to go with the cheese. For dessert, my girl had the cheesecake with an oatmeal crust and fresh berries. I'm not usually one for sweets, unless it Crème Brûlée, so I opted for the Boursin stuffed Shrimp, forgetting it wasn't an appetizer, but a main entree. It was out of this world! All the fish Jay brings in are always fresh and NEVER frozen. He even poured me a small glass of some white wine and it went so well with the shrimp. We cannot wait to go back. The prices are very reasonable and the service and food is second to none. Cheers!

It was achingly cold outside, and the bar was absolutely packed, so I was seated in a somewhat remote corner. I ordered a mojito, but they were out of mint, so I chose a scotch, and immediately ordered an onion soup to start, which was decent, but not as hot as I would have liked, and the broth was a bit one dimensional (clearly, it was made too quickly without the complexity of caramelized onions). I soon learned that the particular seafood entrees (2 in particular) were sold out, and I ended up with a salad (kind of unremarkable, but again, not inedible). The problem is that I ended up abandoned by the waitress, so no desserts, no additional drinks, and no check. I literally had to wander about the restaurant for at least 5 to 10 minutes just to ask for someone (anyone!) to bring me a check, which eventually arrived.
