Absolutely delicious! Went there 2 days in a row on the first day just got a coffee and it was one of the best coffees I've had in a long time. I got the crème brûlée latte with oat milk and it was out of this world! My partner got a vanilla latte and was also delicious. The next day I stopped in for the same coffees and I got a sausage egg and cheese on a croissant, ham and cheese croissant and a strawberry croissant. Every piece was out of this world delicious. I've been a long time customer but unfortunately no longer. You can tell that the owner is very proud of his products, just look at the prices. The prices are 3 times more expensive tHan very good bakeries in France. I was willing to bite the bullet till my most recent visit. I've been going to French Memories since I was a child living in the South Shore. Now that I'm 30 and live in NYC, I realize just how special it is. I will always love the cinnamon croissants, and have become loyal to the strawberry croissant, the spinach quiche and the Paris Brest over the years. The staff is so friendly & the vibes are perfect. It's really hard to find a french bakery really anywhere around here, and i'm so thankful that the only one around here is the BEST one i've ever been to. Everything I've had there is so delicious, it's so worth it for the 30 minute drive. They have a large assortment of pastries, they also serve sandwiches made to order and have coffee and other beverages as well. The workers are always so sweet and welcoming. If you're going and you're discouraged by the line, just know it's worth the wait if it's a bit busy on the weekend! I went to French memories this morning right before heading to an oyster tour in the area. Fair warning this entire place is not optimized for the customer. They built it to serve the needs of the company itself. From the moment you walk in there is absolutely no space to move around, see what is available or even order. I ended up going outside and having my boyfriend order for us. The pastries were OK, nothing out of this world and actually quite sticky leaving residue. We got an almond croissant. On this trip to the New England area, we found quite a few bakeries that offered Macarons and of course we sampled them all. I'm so glad we stopped in on this wonderful gem! While we tried several different flavors, our favorite was the Salted Caramel. It was probably one of the best, if not the best we've had. This french-style bakery, located on scenic Washington Street in Duxbury, is one of several small businesses in the historic building of Sweetser's General Store. The staff is friendly and chatty; I first visited French Memories in January 2011, and not only did they remember me the next time I came in, but every time thereafter. They always take the time to ask after me and mine, and having eaten in on many occasions since, I have observed that this is the standard for their interactions with all their customers. I almost always have my four year old son with me when I go, and they have always remembered him by name and talked to him as well. They are very kid-friendly in that respect. They are not the sort of restaurant that partitions out any sort of separate menu or entertainment for children. My son gets treated like any other customer, and loves to choose an item from the bakery case for his snack. He even requested (and got) one of their chocolate tarts as his birthday cake in March. A bakery first and foremost, French Memories offers standard breakfasty fare such as doughnuts, muffins, and bagels, but also slightly more upscale items such as mini-quiche (several flavors), brioche, friends, and more. They always have fresh bread on hand, and much of their bakery case also displays cookies, petit fours, pies, eclairs (regular and miniature) and other elaborate treats. I have sampled a variety of items, and always have been pleased. They also carry a menu of sandwiches and soups, which I have not yet sampled. There is a coldcase full of a variety of cheeses at one end of the store, and a small coffee counter at the other end. They carry a small variety of individually packaged juices. The downsides, which are few, are that they do not accept plastic (though there is a freestanding ATM in the establishment) nor do they have a publicly available bathroom. Overall, I very highly recommend French Memories - say hello to Joanna, when you visit, and say Jasper's mom recommended you try the quiche and a Yankee Doodle coffee! read more

Popped in on the way to the car after an oyster farm tour at Island Creek. It was 3pm and we hadn't even had lunch yet, but we couldn't resist their delicious-looking desserts! So instead of having a real lunch, we left with 3 desserts and a sweet outlook on life. French Memories is a super cute little space showcasing dessert, quiches, meats, and cheeses in displays. They also have a menu of sandwiches and soup and also have ice cream. It would a great place to stop by to pick up some goodies for a picnic! There is a handful of tables with chairs inside and a bench outside. We got a coffee pastry cream eclair, a Paris-Brest, and the Night and Day. The first bite of the eclair sent me over the moon. I didn't think it could get any better than that, but each bite of each treat was incredible. The coffee eclair melts in your mouth, Paris-Brest was hazelnut-y pastry heaven, Night and Day was light yet rich at the same time and truly decadent. $11 well spent! Best dessert I've had in a long time, and so many more things on their menu that I would love to try. If you live in Duxbury, are visiting Duxbury, or can make any excuse to drive through Duxbury, definitely make a stop here and your life will be better for it! read more

The best bakery ever. Their croissants are the only croissants I will eat outside of Paris, they are crispy and fresh.

The pastries are delicious, especially the almond croissants! We go most weekends. Today however, we had a terrible experience with a (?I think) manager. She told the customer in front of us "no worries we have more of that pastry out back" and then to us, next in line, who wanted one of the same thing, she said "no we're all out of that" and I said "oh, ok, but you just told the customer in front of us you had more out back..." and she rolled her eyes and said, "well Im going to sell what's in the display first." She was super curt with us when placing the rest of our order. Super uncomfortable experience! Then when we went to pick up our bagged order 2/6 of ordered items were missing. We got back in line and had to interact with her again to get the missing items. She said loudy, to the whole line "well you didn't order those things...so I would have to ring you up AGAIN." Ok. Well we did actually order, and pay for, those items. But ok, ring us up again. I know weekends are busy and Im sure stressful. I get it. Just a really unprofessional interaction. The place is pretty small and it was packed with regulars on this Friday morning. If you don't know what they sell it can be difficult as the glass pastry displays have people in front of them so it's hard to see what they offer. I ordered ham and Swiss with béchamel - which was in a puff pastry. I asked for it heated and it really tastes so much better that way. There are no public bathrooms which could be an issue since I just had a medium coffee. Maybe they don't want people to linger. There was a group of regular patrons there for quite a while but I guess nature called, so they all left too. I'm confused as to why the hours are till 6 pm and yet upon arrival at 5:40 the door was locked. There were people inside washing the floor and cleaning. It clearly states on the locked door that you are open till 6. There were other cars that had pulled in next to us but had to leave due to the closure. I love this little bakery. Everything we've tried is delicious. The staff has always been delightful and today when I brought my 3 year old daughter in for Petit Fors they treated us like queens. The manager (owner?) even brought my little girl an espresso cup with milk so she could pretend to have a coffee like mommy.
