Wanted to try a new brunch place and stumbled upon Mal's in my search. We had a phenomenal experience. We were quoted a 10 min wait but ended up waiting longer -- it was still a short wait and the staff were extremely apologetic. We went with my 5 year old son whom they provided toys to occupy him with while waiting for our food. Service was polite, quick and efficient. I had a few requests -- my hollandaise sauce on the side and my son's meal topped with whipped cream and fresh strawberries. I told them not to worry if they couldn't; they remembered everything I had asked and my son felt so special. The food itself was delicious and the portions were large. I ordered a steak tip Benedict and the steak was cooked to perfection. As I was cutting a portion of the meat up to share with my son, Mal came over with a steak knife without me asking for one. I didn't realize I had been struggling so much until she did. My son said his favorite part was the steak and he is the biggest food critic of all of us. The restaurant is cute and clean. We loved all the colors and vibe of it. As we were leaving, they let my son pick out a toy to take home, so that was another special treat for him. I have never been to a better place and if I am ever back in the area I will return! When my friends and I arrived we were informed there was a small wait (~20 minutes which was reasonable on a Sunday morning) and the owner offered water to everyone waiting. When seated, all wait staff works together to serve you and they do so efficiently! The owner spotted us and noticed we were newbies and came over and chatted with us. So kind! I love when owners focus on all their patrons and don't just carer to their regulars! The breakfast was amazing. My favorite food is breakfast and I think this is my top place! I ordered the French toast and scrambled eggs. Cooked perfectly and the French toast was fluffy and incredibly tasteful. My favorite parts of this place were the decor, the GAMES AND LITTLE GIFTS they give to their little patrons while they wait and before they leave and also their comments and suggestions booklet on each table. It was a busy Sunday morning at 11. We were told a 40 minute wait which was very accurate. We were seated at the bar which had hooks for my purse. We were greeted immediately by very pleasant wait staff. They work as a team so you get excellent service that way. I couldn't decide between biscuits and gravy or eggs Benedict so I was brought a sample of the biscuit gravy and a sample of the hollandaise sauce to help me make my decision. It was a tough decision. We ended up with the biscuits and gravy today and I will be definitely going back for the eggs Benedict sometime. The tea my husband ordered was hot and his refill cup a little while later was also nice and hot. I got a flavored iced coffee which was brewed not syrup. It was excellent and I was given a free refill which is unheard of for iced coffee in most places. We received our breakfast of biscuits and gravy, two eggs over medium and home fries promptly. Eggs were cooked perfectly, the biscuits were soft and fluffy, the gravy was delicious and the home fries held up their end of the bargain they were very tasty. Part of the appeal was chatting with one of the server, who after a little bit of time we discovered was the owner. She was a lovely woman with a beautiful smile. We also chatted with one of the other servers who was just lovely. All in all an excellent experience and we plan to go back. Very cute decor. Lots of pleasant little details. Love the farmhouse-chic vibe at Mal's Kitchen. The servers were friendly and efficient, and our special requests (like "well-done/burnt") were followed perfectly. The bacon and egg bagel had plenty of bacon, and the mushroom omelette was generous and perfectly cooked. Went to this hidden gem this past Saturday for a late breakfast and was pleasantly surprised. Both the French toast and pancakes (my friend had those), were quite tasty! They were cooked to perfection with sides of scrambled eggs with cheese, crispy bacon and cheese smothered tots. Love the tots! Staff was super friendly. The owner came over and chatted us up. Mal came over towards the end of our meal to check in (she introduced herself as such at the end of our conversation). Her attitude seems to set the precedent of the atmosphere in her restaurant. Food: we had a special- French toast muffin, grilled. Holy smokes- it was delicious! I had a veggie quiche, which was very tasty and the perfect size, and it came with a fruit cup. If you are someone who is used to eating larger portions, you may need to add a side, but this was just enough to feel satiated without feeling sick. My husband had a breakfast burrito with kielbasa, bacon, sausage, ham, and cheese and a side of potatoes. He also had ordered a side of chocolate chip pancakes to split. He claims that it was the best breakfast burrito he's had. My daughter had hot chocolate with whipped cream and sprinkles (this was a nice touch), and French toast sticks and bacon. Her meal came out on a cute little tray with sections for each part of her meal. She took one bite of the French toast sticks and instantly had the biggest wide eyed smile! She said the French toast sticks and the French toast muffin were rated a 10 out of 10! On top of all the great food and service, she was offered a little toy as a prize on the way out. Quaint atmosphere and a staff that is cheerful and works together! I ordered the "Just roll me out" twice too! Most places you have to choose one or two meats but at Mal's you get all 3! and for under $20!! Stumbled on this place while I was searching on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Food would be 4 stars but adding a star for the excellent service we received! Portions size was good, home fries nicely seasoned, crispy tater tots, grilled brioche was nice and buttery, pancake fluffy in the middle with crispy edges, and French toast has perfect sweetness even without syrup. Service was great, especially if you have kids. They had cute dinosaur bracelets, a candy cart with treats for the ride home, and cute sippy cup for kids drinks. This is a very small breakfast restaurant. The ambiance was quaint and our server was attentive. We came here at around 12PM on a Saturday and we were seated minutes after entering. We got a veggie omelet, French toast, and eggs Benedict. The eggs in the veggie omelet were a little over cooked. The eggs in the Benedict were cooked a little too over hard/over medium but I didn't specify that i wanted them over easy. I thought eggs Benedict was supposed to be over easy but that is my mistake. Prices are reasonable but not incredibly cheap compared to normal breakfast prices. Overall it's a nice restaurant that is a real hole in the wall but I don't think I'd be returning. read more

This breakfast place was actually recommended to me by another local breakfast place. We were lucky and got a spot right away at the counter but the restaurant was very full. The staff could not have been nicer. Everyone checked on us, but not in the annoying "can I eat my meal in peace" kind of way. Mal introduced herself and talked a little about the business and thanked us for coming in. We got two specials and the food was excellent. I would eat Mal 's Breakfast Burrito every day if I could. Nice and hearty with all the fillings you could want. We left very full and kept saying over and over how great everything tasted.
