After reading a review Facebook someone left, I decided to pop in on my way to work and grab some food, to-go. I walked in, saw how nicely it was decorated, and decided to stay for breakfast instead. The inside of the restaurant is actually decorated by Mal, herself, and she did a fabulous job. It's very inviting and inspirational! I had one of the "specials" and I'm glad I did. I took one bite of the Greek Omlet and immediately stopped to enjoy the bite of goodness thoroughly. I swallowed my food and asked the magical woman behind the counter what the secret was. I was told it's a secret and I'd have to come back to enjoy it again. Well twist my arm, I definitely will! My niece and nephew wanted to take me to breakfast for my birthday, we decided to try Mal's kitchen. Everything about this place is amazing; the food, staff, ambience. By far the best pancakes I've had in years! We also got chicken wraps and a bbq burger with tots, absolutely delicious. I would give it 10 stars if I could! The owner Mal came over and introduced herself and struck up a wonderful conversation. They even sang me happy birthday with a parfait and a candle in it! So incredibly sweet. After seeing very positive comments about Mal's Kitchen on the Life in Abington FB page, my wife and I decided to have a late breakfast there today. The outside isn't very exciting, but that is no indication of what awaits you inside. Walking in the door is like walking into the embrace of someone who genuinely cares about you. It felt like we had been invited over for a meal and they were thrilled that we actually showed up. Once in the door, we were greeted cheerfully and got seated immediately. As we sat down, we noted that the decor is bright and homey with comfortable spacing between tables. Our kind of place. The menu has breakfast and lunch offerings you might expect plus a few items with a bit of flair. They also offer daily specials. I ordered Mal's breakfast burrito with tater tots and my wife ordered scrambled eggs, bacon, home fries and a grilled English muffin. Mal herself came to our table after we ordered to thank us for coming in and to say that they would cook off-menu items if they had ingredients on hand to do so. I was left with the impression that the warm, welcoming feel of her restaurant is a direct reflection of her as a person. Our food was served just a few minutes after ordering it. Both of our meals were cooked perfectly. I happened to notice that the meat and vegetable components of my burrito were all cut to the same size....a sign that the chef has admirable knife skills, which is to say they are far better than my own knife skills. We enjoyed our food immensely and we both had food left to take home for a treat later today. We loved the feeling of welcome at Mal's kitchen, as well as their food. As a result, we have already made plans to bring other family members back to Mal's with us as soon as we can manage it. I hope we see you there! read more

I wish I could give 6 stars. This is the best breakfast I've ever had. Nothing crazy fancy just a sausage mushroom omelette with American cheese, home fries and toast. The home fries had the best flavor as did the omelette. Coffee was delicious too. There's a little bit of a wait to get in which is to be expected of a restaurant of this quality. The restaurant is relatively small, maybe a dozen tables but the place is beautifully decorated and looks more like Home Goods than a restaurant. The owner is very attentive and spent much time at our table. I will return many times and tell everyone that I know to visit at least once. read more
