a plate of breakfast food on a table

This is one of our favorite places for breakfast when we are in the area. Remodeled since we were here last, which is nice. Service was friendly and quick. Food quality is excellent, really love the breakfast sausage.

Mehh. Just an average breakfast place. Nothing too bad and nothing too great about it. I ordered the "two step" breakfast which came with eggs (I ordered over easy), pancakes and sausage. Then I ordered a side of toast since it did not come with any. It also did not come with any home fries which I found odd and surprising. Everything about my meal was just average. I've had better and worse eggs, pancakes, sausage and toast. My husband got the farmer's omelette (peppers & onions) which was a large portion size and did come with home fries and toast. Overall I think this place is fine if you're in a pinch and hungry but nothing worth waiting for if it's a busy day. There are better options in the area.

Easter's Mac with bacon, on marble, with homefries

I think most towns have a place like this. They don't necessarily make stuff you can't make yourself when you're feeling a little bit lazy this is the kind of place that will lend a helping hand. Usually, these places have solid food, solid coffee, a local crowd, and reasonable prices I've been living within spitting distance of this place for almost 9 months, I finally decided to bring my lazy rear end here. Now, a lot of reviewers are saying is that the prices here are quite steep. This, in my opinion, is only partially true. Take a place like The Mad Hatter, the prices are at least within the same ballpark, but consider what you get: One portion is enough to feed a family of bears before they go into hibernation. Here, a plate of the same stuff is enough to hold you until lunch (maybe a late lunch but not dinner). Case in point: I had asked for some home fries with my sandwich, usually a place like this would pile on a couple kilos of the stuff. Here I got a tablespoon or two. I'm not advocating for humongous portions, I am advocating for value, setting my baseline at the level other similar places. Many people are also saying that this location is somewhat outdated or dirty.  I haven't been here before, but it seems that they put some effort into making it cleaner and a little more modern. However, I have to say that the choice of colors and design doesn't really go with a place like this. It goes well with a trendy new restaurant downtown, but not here. But, I'm no interior designer or architect so who am I to say. In terms of the food, I had the Easter's Mac, which was your basic bacon egg and cheese.  the egg was cooked perfectly, it was sooo smooth.  the bacon I knew it was there because I saw it, but it was a slice or two and didn't add a whole lot to the overall meal. Ditto for the cheese. Now if you had gone to The Mad Hatter, you would have gotten more bacon when you have seen in your dreams,  maybe even too much but that's kind of the point, is it not? Finally, the service was a mixed bag. It was wicked quick and polite, which was nice. However, where I was sitting in the far corner of the restaurant it felt I was almost not even there. After I had ordered, and I already knew what I had wanted, I was kind of forgotten about (this may be a slight exaggeration, but only slight). Since I already knew what I wanted, they had taken my order and then left me be after it was all done. No one came by to ask if I wanted more coffee or anything else. it took some gentle flagging down for me to pay my bill, but that was processed fairly quickly. I will also give them bonus points for offering to get me some more coffee to go. After all is said and done, it's a solid place with solid food and solid coffee, however, considering I can get more and slightly better elsewhere, I rather make the very short drive to that elsewhere.

an omelet and pancakes on a table

First off, the website on here is not their website, they don't even have a website. I found this place to be very cute and homey. The have old signs around and signed pictures of older iconic people. It feels like him sitting in my own kitchen. I got the broccoli and cheese omelette and a side of pancakes. The omelette was very fluffy and filled perfectly. The pancake was also fluffy and lots of butter which is how I like it. My friend got the Irish Benedict (corned beef hash) and the eggs were cooked to perfection. We are big Benedict people and I don't think I've had a better one. They came with home fries which come with onions so beware if you don't like onions! Staff was polite and attentive. Just wish the price was a dollar or so cheaper for everything considering it's supposed to be $ I would say yelp needs to change this one to $$ Overall this place was great and we will be back again.

    Sandy's salad

This was a $14 salad. It's a small bowl and it barely filled half the bowl. I added chicken and there was the equivalent of a chicken tenderloin (1) added for $5. Super over priced for what you get and it just tastes ok. Nothing great about it. Absolute rip off.

The menu changes with new items quite a bit, but old favorites are always available. The ingredients are very fresh and include vegetable vegetables and fruits and whole-grain breads and more. I've had some fantastic chicken rice soup there, various "toast" options which include peanut butter or Nutella, fresh berries, honey, and more and are always delicious. I've had white chili which I would definitely order again. They have a special toast option that has hummus, hot sauce and egg to which I always add mashed avocado: this is one of my favorites And I've had a fabulous French toast with real maple syrup, which is one of my all-time favorites anywhere and it is especially delicious here. This business offers all of this plus a wide array of smoothie beverages. One of my favorites is the PB cup smoothie : Banana, Teddy's Natural Peanut Butter, Flax Seeds, Organic Chocolate Protein, Almond Milk and Chocolate Drizzle. Because I love heat, and I added it to virtually everything, I ask for a generous shake of cayenne pepper. Don't knock it till you try it! The lunch is here are awesome as well. My favorite is the turkey apple flatbread sandwich. It has sliced turkey, green apple, cheddar cheese & honey mustard pressed in naan bread. There are only two instances where I've had food that I haven't liked here: one was a sandwich that had a arugula on it, but that is simply because I just don't like arugula. No fault of the establishment. The other was the tuna fish sandwich, which I believe had way too much salt. One of my coworkers had the tuna sandwich and felt the same way. Other than these two small instances over the course of many many visits for breakfast and lunches I have no complaints. I highly recommend this establishment.

I got a seasonal matcha that was delicious. Unfortunately, none of that can make up for the fact that no one working there seems the least bit interested in even acknowledging customers as they walk in. When I got there, there were two people in front of me in line. The front counter guy went about taking mobile orders, etc while never speaking to anyone in the line. When they got to the front, no apologies for the delays, barely even eye contact. That's just a huge bummer for a place that had all the makings to be really special.

While the Grill and Eye is not a diner, but a restaurant that serves a filling breakfast with all of the favorites that one might have when one goes to a diner, I am reviewing this establishment. As for the atmosphere in this place, it is very tiny and only has a small number of tables, it always has waitresses, hustling, heaping plates of eggs and bacon and French toast and pancakes and sausages, and home fries to the hungry folks, waiting at their small tables. You can count on the food being hot and fresh, which is what breakfast should be. You might have to wait a bit to get inside, but it's worth the wait. I really enjoyed that French toast so satisfying with sweet maple syrup and a mound of butter melting along the sides. I personally like that it is small because it's intimate. I like that it's crowded because it's popular. I like the way staff because they are always friendly. I definitely recommend that you check this place out.
