New to the area and looking for a new breakfast joint. Ted's is a cute little place so don't judge it from the outside! We sat in a booth along the front with a view of the Main Street. This is a place frequented by locals--lots of regulars came in while I was there. I ordered eggs with hash, cooked crispy on both sides. Ted's was the first place to get my hash done right! Home fries are simple and needed only a bit of salt--no onions or peppers to ruin the simplicity of the taters. Eggs were perfectly over-medium. I did have to ask for jelly packets and was given two. Perhaps they're helping reduce waste. My friend was also happy with her selection--accompanied by a perfectly grilled English muffin. CASH ONLY, so be prepared. Good food, great service. read more

I love Ted's. I always get breakfast from there and their prices are very affordable. The service is nice. I always have a beautiful time when I'm there. I love how nostalgic the place is. It's not very modern but more like an old-time breakfast place which makes it feel more Homie. I just got takeout and this is my first time doing takeout. It was absolutely amazing. Ughh I wanted to like this place, I really did. It's very close to my house but unfortunately it's just mediocre at best. I ordered eggs over easy with sausage, home fries, toast and a side of corned beef hash. Everything tasted very plain and was lacking seasoning/flavor. My husband got the apple pancakes which I thought was better than my meal, but overall nothing special. My husband and I enjoyed are breakfast on 4-14-18. Ted's Place is a seat yourself relaxed diner. There is ample seating. booth's, tables, and at the bar. I ordered the Shaved Steak Omelette with Cheese, side of Bacon and Toasted English Muffin. Omelette- Softely made with decent amount of meat. Homefries- Seasoned well. Bacon- Cooked perfectly. Husband ordered Homemade Corned Beef Hash and a side of Sausage and White Toast. Sunny-Side Up Eggs. Made excellently the yoke was perfectly runny. Hubby devoured the Homemade Hash it tasted so good. A great little breakfast spot. The food is delicious and for very cheep prices. MY personal favorites are their corned beef hash (which is home made) and their Boston cream pie pancake (two pancakes with Boston cream in the middle and chocolate syrup & whipped cream on top). When I first walked in it was musty the carpet was gross and the workers gave me rude looks. I had a table with 10 people which I understand they can't get us all seats and gave us attitude for asking for another table. They gave us rude looks the whole time. The food here is actually very good. I've eaten here two times because they open at 6am and it's convenient if you need and early spot for coffee and breakfast. The service is pretty good. Constant refills on coffee. I thought it was clean enough. Although the sausage and other ingredients are on the better side compared to other breakfast spots ,The prices are too high. Usually I would not review a restaurant if I hadn't eaten there, but I have to make this exception. Went in for lunch this afternoon and walked out, 10 mins later after seeing how many dirty tables there were and being completely ignored by the staff. The place was FILTHY! The ceiling had brown stains all over it, the carpet was disgusting, there were 5 booths that we walked past that needed to be cleared and washed off and the booth seats were all torn and ripped. Two waitresses walked by us, no menus, no acknowledgement, for 10 mins. When the first waitress walked by us a 3rd time (to finally clear a table) we left. Take it from a regular, not just someone passing through. This place is great! They've been around for a long time and there's a reason. I grew up in Whitman so I can testify that this is one of the best breakfast places around. I particularly love the family style atmosphere and the down to earth staff. Always satisfied with my meal. This 'place' has been in Whitman for many years and I never ventured in, which is a huge regret now that I have. My sister was in town for the Turkey Day holiday and wanted some breakfast after her overnight plane trip from Cali. This seemed to be the only non hole in the wall establishment that sold breakfast and wasn't an out of the way chain restaurant, so we gave it a shot. Boy, what great choice that was too as the prices are amazingly low and the food was so beyond excellent. I had the Eggs Benedict (2 eggs option) for $5.75, a side of Homemade Corned Beef Hash ($2.50) and coffee (I can't remember the price on that but it couldn't have been much more than a buck) and the portions were perfect, as I was almost more than full. The hollandaise sauce was perfect and my eggs were perfectly poached. I don't have a bad thing to say about Ted's Place. The bill came to about $33 for 4 people with full breakfasts and a couple side orders (a giant omelette, pancakes, french toast, and bacon). Great food! Amazing prices! Good atmosphere! We've been here a few times and it was good. Until today. Let me start by saying they weren't busy. Servers were standing around behind the breakfast bar. When we walked in we were told there were empty tables around the corner. Ok. That works. Sat at a high top (because we like those) which needed to be wiped off. Again. Fine. We just expected that someone would come over and acknowledge us and wipe off the table. No problem, right? Nope. Sat there for about 10 minutes and we're about to leave. People at the next table even noticed and got a servers attention. Her excuse? "Well you sat at a dirty table." Wait, what? What kind of excuse is that? Then when we went to leave to go somewhere else, we got such a poor attitude. Whatever. We won't be back. Went to Martin's in Abington. What a difference. Acknowledged us right away. Even wiped the table down again because she thought it didn't look clean enough (it was fine). We like to go to different places on Sunday mornings, but I think we'll just stick with Martin's and one or two other places we like. Far and above better service. read more

Your basic diner, but the food was excellent! I got a veggie omelet and it was definitely not thrown together like most omelets, every ingredient was perfectly cooked. They charged me $1.25 to add feta cheese which was kinda steep imo. Also got one Apple pancake - delicious. The apple pieces are in the batter as opposed to on top like most restaurants do. Never go there again. Staff sucked. One of the ladies looked like she was gonna keel over, one looked like she gave up picking up the other two ladies slack. Omelette had practically uncooked onions and peppers... which I don't mind but wish they were cooked more. not to mention one side was all onions and other was all peppers virtually no cheese...... If there going for that let the flavors speak for themselves thing, job accomplished. My opinion it doesn't belong in breakfast. Home fries just get fried? nothing else? I tasted grease and potato. Another thing, we walk in two groups are waiting before us... One group ends up leaving... we wait 45+ before someone talks to us.... but in the mean time, obviously a regular knows the tricks. and asks if he can just sit at the bar. so him and his wife sat at the bar while me and my girlfriend wouldn't have minded but noone talked to us to even let us know. While eating our plain food... we noticed they lose so many customers just by the wait staff and not giving customers any direction. I've never seen so many people leave a restraunt. So we waited, as we are waiting, I notice how disgusting the place looked. The carpet looked black when it was actually supposed to have a blue/white design on it. After 5 minutes of not even being acknowledged by any staff, a waitress told us that in order to be served, we must sit at the dirty table. The table would not get cleaned off until we sat at it. At this point, we left. We wouldn't be served unless we sat at a dirty table? We went to Millie's down the street and the service was great and the food was excellent. Wish I could give 0 stars.Went here yesterday with my family.We seated ourselves which the sign said and sat there for about 10 minutes and no one acknowledged we were there. Three waitresses were standing around talking to each other and no one came to serve us or even let us know someone would be right with us which I think is the rudest thing you can do in the restaurant business. I will also add that it wasn't very clean in there and looks like they never vacuum the floors.
