Joe's Coffee Shop - Hanover, MA

If you're looking for huge portions, freshly made, straight-of-the-grill food, it doesn't get any better than this! I've been eating here for more then 30 years for that very reason. Bob & Patty don't skimp on portions, and cook everything fresh. They serve everything from bacon & eggs, meatballs, clam chowder, steak, corned beef hash, pancakes, cinnamon french toast, freshly made muffins, homemade sausages, omelettes, burgers, chili dogs, shaved steak sandwiches, beef stew, freshly percolated coffee, the best homefries around and more. A little more expensive than chain stores, but, not much more, and worth every penny. The atmosphere is quaint and lively - like a 14-seat "Cheers" for breakfast. Individual counter seats, and two small tables. Let's support the local "Mom & Pop" places like this. (And leave the credit cards at home. They only take cash.)

Full breakfast, homemade sausage patty. Just enough food.

Food was good. Tried their homemade sausage patty but it was dry, overcooked I guess. But add maple syrup and it was delish. Cheap food as per diner requirements. Parking lot is not great, side street parking is plentiful though.

Best breakfast on the South Shore. Old school diner type atmosphere. Highly recommend.

I have never been to a better place and if I am ever back in the area I will return!…read more When my friends and I arrived we were informed there was a small wait (~20 minutes which was reasonable on a Sunday morning) and the owner offered water to everyone waiting. When seated, all wait staff works together to serve you and they do so efficiently! The owner spotted us and noticed we were newbies and came over and chatted with us. So kind! I love when owners focus on all their patrons and don't just carer to their regulars! The breakfast was amazing. My favorite food is breakfast and I think this is my top place! I ordered the French toast and scrambled eggs. Cooked perfectly and the French toast was fluffy and incredibly tasteful. My favorite parts of this place were the decor, the GAMES AND LITTLE GIFTS they give to their little patrons while they wait and before they leave and also their comments and suggestions booklet on each table. What an amazing place. I wish them great success in their business!

We were greeted immediately by very pleasant wait staff. They work as a team so you get excellent service that way. I couldn't decide between biscuits and gravy or eggs Benedict so I was brought a sample of the biscuit gravy and a sample of the hollandaise sauce to help me make my decision. It was a tough decision. We ended up with the biscuits and gravy today and I will be definitely going back for the eggs Benedict sometime. The tea my husband ordered was hot and his refill cup a little while later was also nice and hot. I got a flavored iced coffee which was brewed not syrup. It was excellent and I was given a free refill which is unheard of for iced coffee in most places. We received our breakfast of biscuits and gravy, two eggs over medium and home fries promptly. Eggs were cooked perfectly, the biscuits were soft and fluffy, the gravy was delicious and the home fries held up their end of the bargain they were very tasty. Part of the appeal was chatting with one of the server, who after a little bit of time we discovered was the owner. She was a lovely woman with a beautiful smile. We also chatted with one of the other servers who was just lovely. All in all an excellent experience and we plan to go back. Very cute decor. Lots of pleasant little details. The only downside was very minor it was a little warm in there.

Cute bar where you can turn your morning beverage into a cocktail. Also an outdoor eating area for nice days and a large, modern dining room, plenty of booths and seats. Since my favorite meal, as you may know by now, if you've been reading my reviews breakfast, then the idea that I can get breakfast all day here it's just another very attractive feature of this restaurant! I had a delicious fresh waffle with berry compote and blueberries and strawberries topped with whipped cream. It is served with what they call a house syrup, which is essentially a maple syrup wannabe. They offer the option of real maple syrup for an additional charge. I opted for the authentic item. The waffle was delicious flavorful and made even better because of the true maple syrup! The up charge was $1.75. I also had a very spicy bloody Mary, which is my favorite breakfast cocktail. It was served with a strip of crispy, maple bacon and was quite delicious. This place is not cheap, but nothing is inexpensive these days. The total meal cost $28.41 plus a 20% tip. I we'll go there again. I will try something from their lunch menu the next time and will of course review for all who read my reviews.

Can't wait to go again!…read more Great first experience with Yaz's. Food was great, and came out quickly. There was so much detail in everything we ordered; fried leaks, the way the syrup snd hot sauce was presented, details on the brunch drinks, and on and on. I was very impressed with all the details, the flavor profiles, and how elevated even those details were- you can tell a lot of thought went into hitting a home run on each item. We got the instagram worthy birthday cake waffle, enormous portions from the 'whole farm', and a great short rib benedict. You do have to order "everything at once". This did not end up being an issue for us, as we ordered both rounds of drinks and there was no issue later when we asked for a refill on a kid's chocolate milk. I would predict this could add a complex situation in some cases. I'll be back!

I'm not sure how well they would navigate but allergies as there is Nutella and pistachio on menu. I'd be reluctant. Ordered, received coffee pretty quickly but didn't receive food until 12:12 pm....No pressure here. I don't find this message on the table welcoming at all. I definitely don't love it. Welcome but hurry up and leave, lol. It's in poor taste in my opinion. I've never seen this before in a restaurant and probably wouldn't be likely to return given this makes patrons feel rushed and I drove an hour, out of state to visit. It kinda says our time is more valuable than yours when you limit patrons to an hour but give them 20 minutes to eat and eff off. My mom had the garden bene and she really enjoyed it. I had the banana Nutella foster French toast. Portions are really huge. You can easily split them. Lattes are really good too. Our server was very kind and attentive. A little pricy for brunch. Our bill came to 52.50 and I wasn't able to use a visa gift card which was strange. Luckily I had my credit card. Overall it was pretty good. Would I return to feel rushed for expensive brunch, probably not.

It…read morewasn't my first visit, but it was my first time back in nearly 25 years as we moved away from the area- so for nostalgia sake we made our return. To say my wife and I (the former regulars) and our children (the first timers) were more than pleased would be an understatement. The ambiance was just as we remembered it...quaint, cute, obviously heavily strawberry themed. When you walk in you feel as though you're entering a loving aunt or grandmother's home. And you know when you walk into that type of environment, you're probably going to eat well....and Strawberry Fair absolutely delivers in that department. I had the Eggs Benedict (substituted the croissant with English muffin) and it was perfect. Just the right amount of hollandaise (which had a great hint of lemon). Delicious. The accompanying home fries were cooked perfectly as well, with just the right amount on the plate. The rest of the table enjoyed the cinnamon swirl French toast (a special for the day), an omelet, Reuben, and a second eggs Bennie. The icing on the proverbial cake though was the grilled corn bread that we ordered as a side for the table. It came with homemade strawberry jam, and no joke- I woke up thinking about it this morning. The pieces were thick, hearty, and beyond tasty. If you don't order this side with your meal, you're doing it wrong. Our server was exceptional, and took care of our every need. She was kind, outgoing, and made us feel at home. Definitely added to our experience and made the day special. Strawberry Fair is a gem, and is certainly deserving of a visit, or if you're local- your regular business. They do accept reservations, and that's not a bad idea for when you plan to go...I expected it to be quiet on a late Wednesday morning, and it was busy! Says a lot about this great spot!

The homemade baked beans were watery, and there was hardly any of them. The cornbread and home fries were good. The waffle was spongy as though it was made hours ago and reheated. The strawberries were the gigantic bitter watery kind sold in low quality big box supermarkets. The whipped cream hardly had any taste and seemed like it came from a generic spray can. The "maple syrup" was probably corn syrup, not real maple syrup. The cappuccino was awful. One of the worst I have ever had. The cappuccinos from machines at gas stations are way better. I hardly could taste coffee, let alone espresso. I used to come here years ago, and what used to be a homemade Americana restaurant is now like a poor quality chain restaurant. Denny's is better. The waitress was very nice, though, but the quality of the food was so poor, I won't return.
