After hearing about Daddy's Dairy in Braintree for years, I finally made the trip. I'm not an ice cream snob, but I do appreciate good homemade ice cream. The menu is almost overwhelming--in a good way. They have over 100 soft-serve flavors, plenty of hard ice cream, frozen yogurt, sorbet, and even dairy-free and sugar-free options. Add in sundaes, banana splits, milkshakes, and enough toppings to keep the indecisive standing in line for an extra 10 minutes. I went with the espresso toffee fudge, which had a great coffee flavor, plenty of fudge swirls, and small toffee pieces that added crunch without threatening my dental work. The mango sorbet was refreshing and a nice find since it's not a flavor you see everywhere. Service was quick, and everyone behind the counter was cheerful and friendly. Now I understand the hype. We'll be back. read more

1 Star -- Absolutely Shameful Customer Service! As a mother and grandmother, I am absolutely disgusted and disappointed by the way my daughter and my 18-month-old grandson were treated at Daddy's Dairy in Braintree. My daughter simply needed to use the restroom while out with her young son. She even offered to purchase whatever amount of ice cream was necessary just to be able to use the facilities. She wasn't looking for a handout or special treatment. She was willing to be a paying customer! The fact that a business could show such a lack of compassion toward a mother with a toddler is beyond disappointing. Whatever happened to common courtesy, kindness, and basic human decency? You can offer 100 different flavors of ice cream, but none of them can make up for a sour attitude, terrible customer service, and a complete lack of compassion. As a mother, I raised my children to treat others with kindness and respect. As a grandmother, it breaks my heart to know that my daughter and grandson were treated with such disregard over something as simple as needing a bathroom. Ice cream is supposed to bring families happiness, not leave them feeling unwelcome and disrespected. I believe in supporting local businesses, but I also believe that how you treat people, especially families with small children, says everything about your establishment. A little kindness costs absolutely nothing. Unfortunately, Daddy's Dairy seems to have forgotten that. Extremely disappointed, and I certainly won't be recommending this business to other families. read more

Daddy's Dairy - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Braintree, Massachusetts

The ice cream was good. I was overcharged and waiting for the manager to call me back to fix the charge. The manager called me back within 24 hours and adjusted the bill and credited back the balance owed. It was appreciated and of course we will continue to be a customer when in the area. The Service was prompt as we were the only patrons at the time. We had 5 people and I understand the confusion as we were charged for small ice creams when they were kiddie cones. The ambiance was nice and the place was clean and I love their beautiful ice cream cakes with ice cream cone designs. That was so cool. read more

Ice cream was good and the employee who helped me was nice, but pulled a hair out of the cone...with my mouth. *gag*

Have heard about this place for years now and finally made it in on a visit to Braintree. Cute little ice cream place. I know a previous review mentioned the card minimum. They now have a sign on door and register. Service was friendly. She was able to take our 4 orders at once without writing them down. Impressive! Taste was good I enjoyed my ice cream. Only part was cashier asking for a tip. There are 2 buckets labeled Tips at the register already. Just a little off putting to me asked for a tip. read more

First of all, the minimum for card is 10$. There was no sign in the store or outside about card minimum and I was only notified after ordering a regular bowl of ice cream (2 scoops, total 6.1). I ended up having to buy an ice cream sandwich to reach the minimum. There is a large variety of flavors that you can choose from and they're happy to provide samples of any flavors as well. The ice cream (coffee toffee fudge) had a really nice taste but was certainly a lot-- good for the price. I wanted to save the ice cream sandwich for tomorrow but it melted too quickly because I had other things to finish up for the day. The cookies for the ice cream sandwich were on the softer side even though it was in the freezer section. Overall my experience was slightly soured by the surprise 10$ card minimum since they didn't tell me upfront but rather after they had scooped it into bowls. I'm sure I would have enjoyed the ice cream cookie sandwich more if I wasn't desperately trying to salvage it while it was melting after I had eaten two scoops of ice cream. read more

Have been coming here for years. Will still come occasionally but there are other choices in the area. The Good Tons of flavors to choose from Ice cream is delicious Signature sundaes are my favorite The Bad Prices keep going up. $30+ for my family of 4 It's $8.15 for a waffle cone! Not $8.15 for waffle cone and ice cream. Just the waffle cone. It's another $6 for the ice cream so $14.15 for a waffle cone $1 extra for jimmies, $1 extra for nuts, where does it end? Line can be long and slow All in all, great quality and selection bit almost any other place in the area would be way more affordable and the difference in quality is not that far off to justify it. read more

There was a dirty wet wipe in our ice cream cup under the ice cream!! I went with my son June 5th. It was near closing time which we did not realize, but it was not closing time yet people were sitting inside eating ice cream. The girl took our order then asked if we were going to give her a tip! we said yes then she asked how much (I've never had an employee anywhere do that) it was weird, and awkward but whatever, my son gave a nice size tip. While we waited another employee literally started throwing people out who were eating their ice cream saying they were closing, and started wiping the glass and cleaning. Meanwhile, someone else was in the back putting our ice cream in the cups. We took our ice cream and left. When we got home my son informed me that he felt sick I asked why, he said he had found a wet wipe in the bottom of his ice cream cup crumpled up and his ice cream was on top of it, so he didn't see it until he ate his ice cream!!!!!! This is beyond disgusting. Who knows what was on that wet wipe, what they might have used it to clean up before putting it in his cup, or what chemicals are on those wipes that got into his ice cream and ingested. I am so angry!! It obviously ruined our night out, and he felt sick and troubled the whole night. This is just unacceptable and there was nothing we could do about it!!! The whole experience was horrible. Buyer Beware!!! read more

Daddy's is a pretty crazy ice cream stop in Braintree! First, I have never seen so many options of soft serve ice cream. All of the flavors are made by a combination of syrups with a base soft serve, leaving me a little bit skeptical...but so many people were leaving with big smiles after ordering flavors like S'more and Fruity Pebbles, I figured it had to be good. They have 5 or 6 bins of colored sprinkle combinations that represent local High School colors, which I thought was both a sweet community oriented idea and a smart marketing concept. I ended up with a hard serve coconut almond chip that was quite good. On the way out, I noticed a cooler of excellent looking chipwiches! read more

Daddy's Dairy - Soft serve flavors - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Braintree, Massachusetts

Plenty of icecream flavors! Soft serve, hard serve, lactose free. There is something for everyone Good icecream in the area but it was a little expensive in my opinion. The staff was nice and fast. They were able to serve plenty of people in a short amount of time. There was not a lot of seating so be prepared to either leave or stand. There is plenty of room in the store though if they ever decided to add more seating. read more

I was looking forward to coming here for quite a while. I first knew about this place through Instagram a couple of months ago, the pictures and videos looked nice so it got stuck in my mind but I gotta say, when I first got here I was less than impressed. I was planning on getting a Banana Split so looking through the menu so I could pick out the flavors but I felt the attendant wasn't very patient, I wasn't even in the line, then when I came up the counter she wasn't very friendly. There's a minimum of $10 for credit card so I had to get a bottle of water to go over the 10 dollar amout. The Ice Cream was okay, nothing like what I was expecting, there was a piece of pineapple in it that wasn't good, like sour and old. I hope this review is taken just like a piece of feedback, so they can make the experience of coming here for ice cream a little more joyous. read more

I can't complain about the ice cream. We ordered a banana split, the ice cream itself was just what should be expected. But, the attendant (maybe she was the manager there) was kind of moody and rushing. A place like that would do much better with a more friendly attitude towards costumers. Not sure if I would go back. read more

Daddy's Dairy - Empty chairs maybe due to the service... - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Braintree, Massachusetts

This is my go to place for ice cream with the munchkins!! I normally get the mocha mocha chip with waffle cone and my daughter gets the mint chocolate chip on top!! It pays to have a daughter!! I don't have to finish the whole cone by myself!! Lol Let's talk about flavors: they have a lot of flavors for hard serve and also a lot for soft serve!! Besides ice cream, they have ice cream cake, ice cream cookies sandwich, sundaes, daddy's banana split and some dog treats!! Pretty amazing for a home made ice cream shop!! I am shocked this place doesn't have 4-5 stars!! There are always a lot of people coming and the place has been here forever! There was one time I saw a family of different generations came here, ordered ice cream and sat outside at the benches and also on the deck of their truck and celebrate Father's Day!! Pretty festive in my opinion! Service was pretty good!! I never had any bad experience and I come here every week or 2 because the munchkins love this place!! The staffs are very young, like high school or college and always do what they're supposed to do. There was a time there was a new girl, and someone who had more experience was always next to her to help out! I didn't mind it at all!! I am actually supportive of employers who are willing to give these young kids a chance! Anyone needs that first job of their lives, right?? I did see the sign there's no public restroom. I am not sure about the law, but this wasn't designed as a dining place...and there are many places like this in Chinatown w/o a bathroom. I guess when they first started and even now, it leaned more like an ice cream shop than desert restaurant. There are a tons of departments store right around the corner! read more

With a variety of soft serve flavor ice cream, Daddy's Dairy is truly a local staple for some good old dessert on a hot summer day. I did not expect many people to get ice cream on a cold winter night, but I suppose we all had the same intentions! Knocking off one star because the employee was rude and impatient. As they have a lot of flavors, it is nearly impossible to know which flavor(s) you want just by glancing at the selection. My boyfriend and I decided to share a regular cup with two flavors: m&m and fudge chocolate. To mention, the portion was significantly smaller than my first visit. read more

Went to go get ice cream, not open. Everything shut down and it says online open, and the says open on the door. Very disappointing.

Top notch quality ice cream. I love stopping for a take home pint after shopping. Unbelievable breadth of selection in flavors, types, and toppings. Don't let the name fool you - there's also some dairy-free options (and not just fruit sorbet) for your lactose-intolerant friends. Can't wait to get an ice cream cake here for our next birthday occasion! read more

I got an extreme chocolate. The flavor was good. Until i almost finished. I found a peice of hair in my ice cream.

If you're not going to stay open until 10pm, fine, but please update your hours so that people aren't wasting time and gas! Both Yelp and Nextdoor pages have closing listed as 10pm but if you come at 9:05pm you're shoed away and treated like an a-hole for showing up after closing. read more

Overall: an amazing assortment of soft serve and hard serve ice cream. Bright and cheerful store with good social distancing procedures. Good sizes for a good price and a lot of different option like cakes, sundaes, frappes, etc. They have lots of hard ice cream in the long display case. They get the ice cream from a variety of different places and the worker could really tell us what was from where. They scooped the hard serve right from the case but the soft serve was in the back hidden which is understandable because they have so many flavors that they can't have them all in the open. I got a small peppermint patty soft serve. It was big. It tasted like mint and chocolate swirled which makes since because I doubt they would have a superset machine and recipe for each flavor. I would recommend and definitely come again and try mint brownie or another one if there soft serves. The only thing keeping from a 5 stars is it wasn't homemade and you can't tell which flavors are from where. read more

I got a brownie sundae with Milky Way Ice cream (the brownie which was BOMB) and my family got bubble gum and coconut almond joy. My wife enjoyed hers, and my son as well. But the service was less than sub par. As a paying customer the last thing I want is to feel like I am wasting someone's time. And her attitude was beyond STANK. Slammed the first ice cream on the counter, second one rolled her eyes as she handed my wife the cone. And then took forever for my sundae. I honestly questioned whether she was putting a special sauce in it. Not to mention the unethical act of boasting a minimum charge to use credit card. Long story short - next time I'm going to Ron's. Small family owned appreciative and friendly place. Actually kudos to the other server who gave me a taster! She was a doll!!! Maybe Rons should hire her!!! read more

I love ice cream as I've mentioned before and will stop anywhere for it... This place has my favorite ice cream flavor that 99% of ice cream shops don't have, Grapenut. They have so many varieties and options, toppings galore, shakes, banana splits, homemade ice cream sandwiches, AND ICE CREAM MADE WITH LIQUOR (Must be 21 to purchase those of course)!!! Honestly if there's an ice cream flavor that you're craving, the probably have it. When I come in they are organized at the counter and greet every customer with a smile. This one young Lady that I always seem to get when I come in actually remembers my order and I don't even come in that often because I don't actually live in Braintree! That is amazing customer service in my book. The facility is very clean. read more

Well I was excited to grab a frappe at this shop. I walked in and was greeted by a sign that said $10 minimum for cards, big turn off because most people don't carry cash these days. So I look at the menu and decide I'll get two frappes. Chocolate and strawberry east right. Well I waited 15 min for the two frappes. The chocolate one tasted ok and was a little thick. The strawberry one was awful, thin, weak and milky. The strawberry flavor was almost missing. Very disappointed. read more
