I called and talked to the owner and explained I had my mom's suede jacket in a suitcase for almost 7 years since she passed away, and just wanted him to freshen it up to have a fresh clean smell. He quoted me $50 & he sent it out to another company to have it dry clean because they don't clean leather. When I came to pick it up, he told me it was $70?! Never did he say that he was going to charge me 40% more for his profit?! Also, the jacket came worse than it was the smell of being in a suitcase was still there. It came full of cat/dog hair on the inside ?!! and even the buttons still had the foil around it. ?! The only thing he offered was to send it back again and I told him ,no thank you. read more

Do not take your clothes here unless you want them to get ruined. I took a dress here to get dry cleaned that I was wearing in a wedding. I picked it up on a Friday the day before the wedding. I immediately saw blue stains all over the dress and a snag right across the front. I asked the woman there about it and she was super dismissive. Shrugged her shoulders and said she didn't know what it was. Zero shock, zero concern. I insisted she call the owner. Same exact reaction from him. He said he didn't check it so he didn't know what I was talking about. So I text him pictures. Still had no resolution. He was so relaxed about destroying a dress I had to wear the next day! I was shocking. He offered me my money back for the dry cleaning and that is it. He told me the place who does his dry cleaning is closed for the weekend. I rush to a dry cleaners that was still open and asked if there was anyway they could help. First thing this place did was take one look at the dress, gave it a sniff and said they didn't even dry clean this thing. He told me never to take clothes to a place that doesn't do it in house. Then he offered to clean it for me. All of this took me hours and more money. The next day I went back to Montgomery cleaners and got my money back. Zero apologies from them. I had to get an evening gown tailored for a wedding and last minute. I called and the owner allowed me to send him photos of the dress to assess if he thought he could get it done. After agreeing to it, he on his own took the dress to his seamstress because she wasn't in that day--all so it could get done in 36 hours. He was very respectful and kind to work with. While I was there, I heard him talking with other customers and of all ages and it was clear he was a staple in the community. I dropped a skirt off to be altered two days before my courthouse wedding and they went above and beyond to get it to me in time - even going out of their way to hand deliver & pick up from the seamstress's house. This business must have a ton of clients, because they are way too casual. I live in the neighborhood and thought I would try them out of convenience. Dropped off laundry and dry cleaning. No posted prices. Was given a tearoff ticket with a number and nothing else. I asked about a 'count' as I have seen for 30 years of having dry cleaning done. How else do you know whats in the pile, and whats laundry or dry cleaning? But, Ok. At pick up, was told a total for the service, again no accounting for quantity or separation of charges for laundry only. Came to $68 for 10 items (first I even knew how much my bill would be). When I dropped off I asked how much "launder only" was. Gentleman said $4. I know I saw $3 on the net, but ok. At $6.80 each (68.00 divided by 10) including the cheaper 'launder only' pieces, I decided this change was a no go and am going back to Nora's in Seal Beach. read more

I came in and dropped off a suit for alterations and dry cleaning, but upon pick up it was in the same condition as it was before. The dress shirt that I brought in was not clean at all and I would not recommend anyone to come to this spot! The alteration was not done properly and when I called up to talk about my product, the person who received my call was extremely rude and stated that he was the one who cleaned it in particular, and also that he would only give a refund for my shirt, even though I noticed that all of my items were not dry cleaned as intended. Just moved to the neighborhood and needed a new dry cleaner. So I looked on Yelp and this place had a good rating and a "1 dollar sign" price. When I get there, the lady takes my items, hands me a ticket, and says bye. She didn't count the number or garments or tell me how much it would cost when the items which she said would be ready 3 days later. I asked and was pretty surprised at the price. $9 to dry clean a dress and $4.50 for a blouse. A bit too much when I used to pay $2 for any garment at a dry cleaner in Venice. When I explained this to her, responded "You get what you pay for." I picked up my clothes which turned out fine. However, the outdated reviews created an unrealistic and disappointing expectation. Horrible location, but nice staff. They're very approachable, kind, and honest. I don't get the impression/feeling that they're only in the business for the money and thus don't give a crap about customer service. Probably because of one of my first experiences with them... I once came in to get a dress tailored and dry cleaned. I can't remember exactly what happened, but I think I came in early to pick it up and it wasn't exactly ready -- "we haven't pressed it yet..." was their response. I was in a rush, though, so I didn't care if it was incomplete or not. Even though I was handing over the money to pay for their service they guy just had a look of discontent on his face. He went over to pick up the dress with a somber look to him and then handed it over to me. As he did he said, "How bout this... because it wasn't ready on time." He handed me a lint roller. Simple but very sweet and respectable. I dunno, something about that time really stood out in my mind as them caring about their work & service to their customers. I've thus have gone back to them several times, mainly for alterations, and they've done pretty good work at reasonable prices. Don't know their pricelist for tailoring but they tailored my dresses for $12 each (no matter how big the issue was). read more

1 STAR = 4 STRIKES! Tip: Learn about the type of people you are doing business with! I decided to try this cleaners based on the older Yelp reviews. Let me give you a "2011 UPDATE" and save you a wasted trip. When I dropped my husband's dry cleaning off, I told the owner I was trying his service based on the 2 Yelp reviews. He was pleased and told me the 6 shirts are $1.80 and the 3 slacks are $3 each. I dropped it off on a Monday and was told it would be ready on Friday. I prefer faster service, but I wanted to give them a try. I quickly inspected the work and noticed one of the shirts needed re-ironed....which they did on the spot. STRIKE 1: for not inspecting their work before handing it over to me. The total came to $23.10. After I signed the credit card, I questioned the price of the shirt and pants. The lady helping me said the price was $4 for the pants. She started to bicker with me so I asked for the owner. STRIKE 2 for arguing with me. He told me I miss understood him. However, I told him I know what I originally heard because I remember thinking $3 dollars was more than what I usually pay. Also, I remember commenting to my daughter about the price of the pants as we walked to the car. Then, he told me maybe I heard $3.60 or $3.80-- that is the price that he ALSO quotes to people. STRIKE 3 for not quoting all his customers the same price. By the way, after returning home and putting the clothes in the closet, I saw that 2 shirts were pressed poorly around the collar. STRIKE 4 for VERY poor quality work! I prefer doing business with HONEST people that take pride in the quality of their work. Bottom line, I will never go back. 5 STARS FOR GREATNESS First of all I have no idea what the previous commentator was talking about down there but the owner was very clear on the prices he gave me. I mean I got a fantastic deal on my wife's white slacks that our 2 year old loves spilling chocolate milk over and they got it out like new. Second of all what really amazed me about this cleaners was the way they handle their customers. I'm always greeted by my name when I get there so it's nice to know i'm not just a paycheck to them. I used Montgomery Cleaners to clean my husband's custom wedding tux as well as box my wedding dress after years of having them tucked away in the closet. The tuxedo was cleaned beautifully and is bagged away for us to save, it looks just like new. My dress is quite long with lots of tulle and delicate lace, and I wanted it to be preserved safely. Luckily the staff at Montgomery Cleaners took very good care of it and had it cleaned and they boxed it themselves, so now my dress can be kept in our family for a very long time. Cannot recommend this place. I have been going here for a couple years, because it's close to my home, but after the most recent issue I won't be going back. To get my 5 suits dry cleaned I had to return 4 separate occasions after dropping them off because they did a rush job the first time, then lost pieces the next time, and continued to show they are unorganized and need to change the way they run their business. After asking for their plan to make things right the man up front simply said, "well, I am doing it a second time for free..." Certainly not worried about retaining clients, then reluctantly offered 20% off on my next visit. Bring clothes here at your own risk, their solutions used on my pants have ruined them by stain, I am truly disappointed with the service, results, and the way the handled their errors.
