We lived there for 3 years. This is our observation Pros:- 1. Maintenance was responsive and professional. George is very friendly 2. The place was quiet and at walkable distance from google (15 mins). Cons:- 1. The insulation was very bad. It becomes very hot in summer and cold in winter. 2. Overall value for money was very bad. For around 2300-2400 per month apartment we expected a little more standard. The size of the apartment is below 600 sqft. 3. The kitchen was small with no dishwasher. 4. Severe bug problem. 5. We stayed there for 3 years. When we left , we cleaned the house thoroughly. But, still they charged around 260 for cleaning. I am not sure, if thats normal, but being a long term resident we hoped they would be a little more supportive. Overall i would if you are planning to stay there for short term, then its maybe ok. We have other more pressing matters, so couldn't change our apartment sooner. read more

I have been living here for a month now. The management is quite good and quickly response. The mechanic comes to fix my water faucet in less than 72 hours (Not a big issue just water leak). Neighborhood is quite quiet. Many of them are working from home from what I've seen. I have an assigned car park which is covered. There is a park in a school nearby if you want to do jogging or playing tennis. So far nothing makes me headache. read more

Just moved out of the Bay Area... but had the oportunity in the last 20 years of living in various Monte Sierra Apartment units throughout the years...at times I went and came due to work ..and always came back Monte Sierra Aparrtments. Really like the neighbourhood and the apartments too. Lived in the 1 bedrooms and in the studios. Went through a couple of diferent managers throughout the 20 years of coming and going and always the experience was good. Always was treated well and felt safe. Apartments where clean, freshly painted, everything works, liked the pool, covered parking. Made friends that I still stay in touch with. Great comiunty, would recomend it. And if life brings me back to Mountain View i would live here again. read more

I lived here for 2 years and it was a wonderful community to be part of, friendly, private and respectful. I never had an issue with neighbors and the times that I had maintenance problems it was ver very quick and fixable response. I couldn't thank management/owner enough how thankful and lucky I was to have found this little home to live in. It's in a great location. Two main groceries south and north, close proximity to freeways and Caltrain. The two main train stations are Mt. View and San Antonio which makes it very convenient. Close to trails and bike paths. When its summer you can enjoy the pool and bbq. Very close to Hospitals, and all the tech companies. 1.5 miles away from Downtown Mt. view/ castro street. Of course there is always room for improvement and will note. The complex could have more light/ security cameras where the cars park. Mail boxes security, better laundry room machines. All of the above mentioned are suggestions that could be improved for tenants comfort. Overall I loved living here, If I were to go back to Mt. view, I wouldn't look anywhere else to rent but here. The property manager is very generous, respectful and genuinely a good person. I highly recommend this apartments/homes. Best of luck! read more

I have to downgrade my previous review; the management at this building illegally withheld a portion of my security deposit, and then, unbelievably, failed to appear at a court hearing after I was forced to sue to get the money back. Despite the judgment having been made two weeks ago, I'm still awaiting receipt of the funds. Stay away from this place -- even though the resident managers are great, the owners are incredibly unprofessional. read more

I have lived at Monte Sierra for about 1 year and am sorry to have to leave because the service April and Robert provide is the last of a dying breed. Their warm and hospital approach is rarely found at any of the apartment communities I have toured recently. It seems like nowadays either the properties are really corporate and uptight or incredibly old and the lack of management is obvious. Monte Sierra has proven to be the best mix of both worlds. With a husband and wife team, they live on the property and dedicate themselves to the service of this property. My maintenance requests are promptly taken care of by Robert. April has even allowed a late payment to slide because I was short on my account one month due to an unexpected car repair that cost a lot of money. A new pool was put in last year which brings a great vibe to the community because there isn't much else this place has as far as amenities goes. Laundry facility, covered parking, storage, and the pool. But at the end of the day could very well be the best bang for your buck. This place is certainly recommended. read more

Great location, no neighbors above or under your apartment, decent soundproofing. Nice, responsive and helpful management. We lived here for 2,5 years and had different requests to management and maintenance team and our concerns were Always addressed in timely and professional manner. Some apartments went through renovations, some not, there's some room for appliances improvement hence 4.5 stars out of 5. Overall feeling lucky to find and live in this place. Pretty and quiet neighborhood, helpful staff and cozy apartments (I lived in a studio for a year and now in 1br, both are nice places). Oh and huge corner windows are the best! read more

My husband, 1yr old and I lived at Monte Sierra Apartments for 3 months (short term move and lease due to an short term internship). In the beginning we dealt with a lovely lady named April. She was very clear and upfront as to the premium rent of $300 per month that we had to pay due to the short term lease, and all conditions that could lead to a partial deposit return. However, as we were getting all the details down and closer to signing the lease, April tells us that the Owner of the property wished to proceed with all new leases himself. She gives us his number, we call him (several times), but a full week goes by without him returning our calls. Finally, he calls us back, tells us that whatever April had told us is not valid, and increases the rent amount to an exorbitant amount!!! about $1,000 premium rent over rent market value!!! he was asking us for $3,000+ per month... for a 1BEDROOM APT! wow... there was no way we would do this. In the beginning, we had seen many apartments, some even more affordable and better equiped (our apartment did not have A/C, nor a microwave, had a small kitchen, old appliances, no washer or dryer, an old bathroom, and no patio/balcony). However, we had agreed to rent here and pay the $300 premium because of: (1)proximity to internship location, (2)one story apt- no above/below neighbors, (3)location on safe residential area, and (4)April - she was always very sweet and attentive to our concerns and needs. WITH THAT SAID, there was NO WAY we would pay that rent+$1,000 premium per month. That guy was just insane lol... really, plus very rude. It would have been more decent for him to tell us that he did not wish to rent short term. Now, for some odd reason, we got VERY lucky! we had started looking again for another apartment to rent (kind of stressing out because the internship was about to start) when April called saying that she was taking care of new leases again and that she could offer it at the $300 premium!!! WOOHOO!!! We jumped on our lease, signed, and within days were at our new leased house/apt. Overall, we really liked living here. We were biking distance (10mins) to internship location, there are many parks and grocery stores close by (walking distance), and the maintenance crew (Robert) is top notch (taking care of all requests within hours). We felt very safe, and even though there are not many amenities, other than a very large and deep pool (which was great) and a laundry room, well... we had so many parks walking distance that we did not feel the need for them. In regards to the apartment, well, the apartment size is very decent, the bathroom is comfortably large, there is plenty of storage space, we got a covered parking space for our vehicle and there was a very large storage there as well. There is laminate throughout (we dislike carpet) and pretty large windows (especially if, like us, you get a 1Bed corner unit). On the bad side (each community and apt will have some) there is a lack of power outlets in the whole apt and most outlets do not have the ground hole (I had to go to walmart and get adapters for our laptops and some appliances, as well as extension adapters). Some neighbors are very, very nice... but MAN! the neighbor in front of us, as well as next to us were terrible. They both kept getting into fights yelling at each other at 2AM (one seemed very obstinated and the other one was just too inconsiderate). The one next to us kept slamming his front door between 3-5AM when he went in/out of his unit and kept waking our 1yr old up... we asked him to please tell April to help him fix the door, but he just did not care. The one in front was just terribly rude and obstinated... one time I parked next to my unit to unload groceries (I was carrying a baby) and he came out and yelled at me saying that my car was inproperly parked lol. Upon move out, we were loading our car and he almost crashed it when backing up, when we yelled for him to stop, he got out and said we shouldn't park there (we had obtained prior permission from April upon move in to park there while unloading/loading the car and trailer). Boy, that guy must have a very sad life. Thankfully we also made some nice friends in the community. Overall, people were nice. Anyways!!! back to the point!!! Close to our move out date, April did a pre-inspection walk-through and gave us clear instructions as to what was expected upon move out. On our last day, she came with us, checked the apartment, said everything was great and that we would get our full deposit back, minus $9.00 of postage. About five days later we found the check on the mail. Full refund - $9.00 for certified mail service. I would highly recommend this place to any intern at Google or other nearby company. I would also recommend to any singles or couples who work in the area or like mountain view, not so much to a family of 3+ though... due to the space (they only have studios and 1Bed). read more

As of writing this I am living in a studio apartment. Pros: Has some upgrades (no carpet, new fridge and stove, new toilet, modern faucets), leasing office staff are courteous and professional, maintenance repairs are done quickly, uses online rent payment and maintenance request, laundry facility open 24/7 and uses coins instead of cards with a designated fill amount. Cons: No microwave in my unit, no heating in the bathroom, vertical blinds in the apartment window don't appear to fully close (you can still see inside), Dryer in laundry facility isn't very efficient-clothes are wet despite using the maximum setting. I think if they sustain the pros and address the cons they could become a highly sought after apartment complex. read more

I am writing this review after living here for 6 months and honestly the only reason I am moving is due to the rent increase. April and her husband Robert are two of the nicest people you will ever meet, every situation or complaint was handled almost immediately and with extreme professionalism. They are the best property managers in the bay, no question. I do question the business sense of the property owners who seem to enjoy keeping an average apartment at an above average market price. Without things like a dishwasher, ceiling fans, air conditioning, or central heating the apartment should be priced accordingly but isn't. read more

We lived in Monte Sierra Apartments from 2009 till 2011, and had only positive experience about the place. The place was very quiet (we lived in 1911 unit) comparing to other places we used to live before. April and Robert, the landlord, are amazing people and were always helpful. For instance, when we moved, we found the fridge to work very loudly, and it was replaced the very next day; April watched over our cats when we went on vacation, and etc, etc The apartment itself might seem to be on a small side, and there was no patio. But it was renovated and clean; no carpet (huge plus for us) and all new appliances. So I would definitely recommend the place, especially if the landlords are still the same. read more

My bf and I went there on Monday. The manager had shown us a updated apartment, swimming pool and parking space. It was nice. We told her that we would like to take it ( it happened before we sign the contract.) afterwards she directed us to go to Safeway to get money order check. On the way to Safeway, my bf and I discussed about the release term which is 7 months then month-to-month. It was a deal breaker for us. We went back to office with check and tried to convinced her for one year release. She couldn't accept it. So we didn't take it. The dishonest manager April asked us $35 because she run credit check for us already when we were away and before we paid her. The point is We didn't even sign the contract yet. That isn't a way to make people's money. For $35 dollars!! Please! read more

I lived here for 2 years and recently moved out. Back when Elizabeth was in managment I had a much better experience but even that didn't make up for some problems I had. On average these apartments are about $200 higher than others in the area. They lack some of the features I look for in a place. Dishwasher, etc. They did provide good laundry facilities and began renovating many of the older units. However in mine just about everything was falling apart. Bathroom fixtures breaking, tiles cracking, etc and managment never really got back to me about fixing things. Also once managment changed they got much stricter on late notices. I racked up about $500 in late fees from being a day late. My fault I know but it was never a problem with Elizabeth there and she was much more able to work with me. Not to say April isn't a very nice person. The area is decently safe and quiet. However not my idea of a prime location. Not much within like lets say a two block walking distance. Overall the place was a decent place to live. Just very small and overpriced. read more

And the apartment complex is really cute, with many little paths between the apartments - we loved taking our cat on walks out there. Neighbors are all super friendly. Great place! As a resident of 10 years I have recently moved back to my home country and it's time to give this place a review. Apartment complex The complex consists of single story houses with no neighbors up- or downstairs. It is very quiet. Car parking is located right next to the apartments with no stairs to climb and most buildings have dedicated laundry with a big overflow laundry room next to the manager's office. Over the years they upgraded the apartments by installing new windows, showers and replacing he carpets with hardwood floors. One of the nicest additions though was the introduction of an online platform for maintenance requests and rent payments, which replaced the last-century check-in-the-mail. Apartment The 1br I lived in was in decent shape with modern in-ceiling lighting. They do tend to get hot in the summer, which can be a bit of a bummer when returning from a long day at work. Rent includes everything except electricity. For internet Comcast is likely the best option for now, but Google Fiber's expansion plans include Mountain View. Management Robert is super nice and helpful. Having been in the business for years he knows what issues come up and how to perform maintenance. When I moved out he offered that I wouldn't have to perform cleaning because of the extensive re-modelling they were planning to do, including replacing the carpet with hardwood floors. Sean was my contact when moving out and he too was very helpful and easy going. My only pet peeve were the short notices that April was giving for maintenance work. They did start go give more heads-up time after I complained, which is to their credit! Location One of the best things is the central location within less then 3 miles / 10 minutes from Googles main campus. The neighborhood is safe as can be easily verified by counting the packages that FedEx leaves at the doors. read more

We faced not much issues and even for any, Robert was on it within minutes :). At the same time the rent is little high with respect to the market. I've lived in Monte Sierra apartments for 6 months. I'm in agreement with Auria, the couple that lives in and maintain the apartment are great! Friendly, understanding, and service requests handled quickly. These apartments won't knock your sock off and in my opinion, expensive for the size (albeit, still relatively far cheaper than neighboring apartment complexes). The entire complex is a story tall, and not 'modern.' There aren't many amenities, although I got a nice hangar on my door celebrating the holidays! All in all, the hospitality that you receive here more than makes up for any shortcomings. read more

I lived here for 2 years. I was a loyal tenant, minded my own business, and paid my rent on time. Then. . . the unthinkable happened. My apartment became infested with bed bugs due to my neighbor having them and the bed bugs coming into my apartment. As soon as I was aware of the bed bugs (I didn't know what a bed bug was or what one looked liked until now), I contacted the property manager right away. The on-site property manager acted quickly about the problem. I immediately moved out of my apartment and into a hotel because I had refused to further live in my apartment or the building. The owner of the apartment building was contacted about the situation; however, the owner of the apartment building and the assistant manager were nice to me for "one day." They both acted liked they cared about my situation; however, their actions told a different story. The owner and the assistant manager had treated me like I was a "second-class" citizen by not returning my phone calls and emails and not treating this situation with a higher priority. It was a week after I reported the bed bug infestation before the exterminators came out to exterminate. Some tenants in my building was informed of what was going on but others were not. To sum this up, things have not been resolved between myself and the owner, my security deposit has not been returned to me (and it's past the legal time limit in which the owner is legally liable to return the security deposit), the owner has not responded to several of my emails. Here I was a victim in this situation and was treated like garbage by the owner. I could post more of what actually happened in this situation, but you got the picture. I was looking for another place to live anyway but not only did I have bed bugs, but the buildings are outdated, the walls are paper thin, and the washers and dryers in the laundry room are very, very old. I say RUN don't walk away from Monte Sierra Apartments. read more

I am very unhappy with this company. Irresponsible attitude, bugs in the apartments, and they even accused me of not clean up the apartment during my moving out. Also, they delayed more than 21 days to refund my deposit, which by law of the state of CA, I would receive the full deposit back. Oppositely, they did not refund me, and even threaten me saying that they will fine me for $1000 for the abuse of law. This is unacceptable and devil. Don't trust on any those guys (April Ledingham, Malek Maryam). They are not good people. I will never use this company again, or even suggested it to friends, co-workers, etc. I regretted that I used them to live there for 18 months. read more

We lived in this property for two years. The complex was very clean and the staff service was great. The location is very close to downtown Mountain View but the the complex is very quiet. Property managers, April & Robert, and their guest service staff, Sean, were very kind and prompt to my requests. I would definitely recommend this apartments who is going to work in Mountain View and vicinity areas such as Palo Alto and Sunnyvale. read more
