Best experience buying my daughters first bike. The staff was super friendly, they made my daughter feel special measuring her and then adjusting the seat until it was the right height for her to ride on. Bonus they have bagels and coffee out for customers while you wait. First class service and the prices are the same as any other bike shop.

The clearly advertised levels of bike service on the wall behind the register, which range from a straightforward tune-up to an annual maintenance plan for those "hammers" who ride their bikes hard, offer a great variety of options depending on how much (or how little) you plan to ride your two-wheeled steed. Although I only stopped in to check out kid bike helmets and to buy an insulated water bottle, it was a wholly positive experience. I can't wait to bring one of my neglected mountain bikes here for some pampering!

I was curious about e-bikes, and Ossie the most excellent friendly mechanic I've dealt with, helped me with my decision with a test drive in the rolling hills of Maplewood! I had such an amazing ride, it re-sparked my passion for cycling, after that ride I bought in 2 of my bikes for work there and they are both riding fantastic, the work they do, helpful advice, friendly warm demeanor, all ushered in a new era of my cycling that I now have passed down to my son, we go on rides every other day, and his enthusiasm has created an even stronger bond. I am so grateful for these guys at Urban Cyclery, they are a real asset to the community.

He quoted me $100 to replace the spokes on my back wheel and $120 with the derailleur repair. When I went to pick it up he wanted $210 for a host of unauthorized repairs. At my normal shop, this repair on the spokes would have cost less than $50. When I refused the extra charges he took the chain and derailleur off and gave me mine back back in a plastic bag (did not put them back on). When I refused the additional charges he said that the quote I got was just an estimate, even though he never contacted me about the additional charges in advance. He condescended to me about how much work it took for him to replace the spokes. He also adjusted my breaks which I did not ask him to do and now my front break is very loose and I need at least 30 feet to stop now - very dangerous. My back wheel where he replaced the spokes was left with damage (filed down with scratches, pictured), and is now very misaligned. Very turbulent ride home - I will need to take it elsewhere for additional repair. He did a host of unauthorized repairs, like drilling into my rims to replace my regular spokes with heavy gauge spokes which he tried to charge me extra for and said I had 'no class' for complaining. I did not say anything about the Chinese per his response that is defamatory. I did curse him out - which he deserved. He did not communicate with me at all during the repair, never asked me if he adjust my breaks, drill into my rims or replace my chain. He also removed an old display which I did not ask him to do and tried to charge me for it. Con. Rudely made me wait 23 minutes outside the storage unit he operates out of to bring my bike down, even though he told me what time to pick it up and I was on time.

I am extremely glad this bike shop exists, and came here to echo what other reviewers have said --…read morethat Newark Sport Center is super friendly, and that the prices are reasonable (very reasonable). The people who work there are really generous with their time and knowledge. They have fixed so many of my old bike's random problems: repairing and replacing brakes, fixing pedals, figuring out weird chain issues, etc. Whenever a north Jersey pothole means I've had to show up there suddenly, they've always gone out of their way to help. If you are interested in starting to ride, Newark Sport Center would be a great resource, both for equipment and for advice. They are very welcoming to new cyclists. If you already ride a lot and are looking for a friendly local bike shop, this one has all kinds of nifty devices and nice essentials. Locks, bike pumps, lubricants, things of that nature. And they ordered me a really nice brake bleed kit. They are thoughtful, patient, and conscientious, and they tend to have cool stickers on hand. Also, it's always nice to see the varieties of bikes -- ancient and brand new bikes, road bikes & mountain bikes & get-around-urban-Jersey-while-carrying-a-lot-of-stuff bikes -- getting treatments here. Great to have this shop in Newark.

At no point should bolts randomly fling off your bike while you going down the Brooklyn bridge going 24mph. I'm a high school student and I had to pay for my bike with my own money. I've been working since 10th grade to help my mom because she is a single parent so for me the loss of about 5k including repairs leave me without transportation as I can not afford to repair it at this point. I've spent 3.7k on a bike, this isn't including the repairs i had to pay over the span of a year which amount to at least 1.4k+ after random bolts detaching and motor failing, and as soon as the warranty expired my bike had a random electrical issue where the bike wouldn't accelerate. From the owner Pete: OK, where are you going? (Direct email sent from owner) 1- Last Mile NYC replaces all of the electronics on your bike. The cost of the parts and labor is $2910.54 2- Send your bike back to Super73. They will do their own diagnosis, and determine the issues and fix the problems. Unfortunately your bike is not under warranty, the cost of packing up and freighting your bike to and from Super73 will be around $1200. Plus their diagnostic fee, parts and labor. BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK.
