    Beautiful building and grounds

A visit to Monks Bread has been on my to-do list for a LONG time, because I'm a huge fan of their biscotti. Well, I recently made the trip and was so impressed. The grounds were so peaceful, the building was beautiful, and the shop was LOADED with breads, biscotti, and other delicious treats. There are also religious items for sale as well. The gentleman working was also very friendly and helpful. If you're out that way, I highly recommend the short detour to get some tasty baked goods.

Beautiful grounds, lovely little store and we walked through the church (no pictures allowed) but it was breathtaking! Left with some flavors you can't usually find in stores :) beautiful drive during the fall months too!

Beautiful grounds, beautiful church, online hours are incorrect - the store is closed on Sundays. Understandable but disappointing.

For some reason, the bread is always better right after visiting the Abbey. It's so peaceful!

I drive out just to get their bread - it's truly the only bread I will eat. The cinnamon maple is amazing beyond words.

Until this week, when we finally had a chance to visit the shop! The cutout cookies are AMAZING, like the best I've ever had. And they're adorable! The designs are constantly changing with the seasons and holidays. But they have other delicious things to choose from too. Cookies, brownies, cupcakes, the list goes on! You can find Sweet Blessings right on Main St in Shortsville. I've always been a sucker for these quaint little small town Main St shops, and this one is no different. There are cute signs in the window and a delicious smell greets you as you open the door to enter. There are tables and chairs strewn about if you want to stay and enjoy your baked goods. At the counter there is a display with a nice selection of treats, and they are constantly rotating stock. Behind the counter you can see cookies and other delicious goodies getting their finishing touches added on. I highly recommend if you've got a sweet tooth, are looking for a spot to have a treat and meet up with friends, or have a gathering you are looking to bring goodies to!

But after…read moretrying this bakery on the penultimate day of a vacation, we had to come back to stock up on our final day. We collectively tried the olive ciabatta, three kinds of croissants, a flatbread, an epi bread, and maybe a couple of other things I am forgetting. Everything was delicious and very reasonably priced. I love the vibe of the place, I love the logo they stamp on their bags, I love that they threw in an extra pastry because we bought so much on that last day, and I love the location just across from the river. (First-time visitors should note that you enter the bakery from the back of the building that faces Water St.) Perhaps the strongest endorsement came from my partner's 14-year-old son, who gave the almond croissant a 10/10. When I asked him to rate the almond croissant that he loves from a bakery local to us, he gave it an 8.5/10. Follow-up questioning revealed that the chocolate croissants from the two bakeries merited a 9.5 and 8, respectively. Oh, and if you call earlier in the day they will hold things for you if you won't be able to make it in until later in the day.

Hidden gem!…read more Delicious pastries! Super friendly and nice owner! Inside smells amazing! We tried the chocolate croissant and the Bostock (brioche w almond topping and strawberries). Both were great and would happily eat either again! The chooclate croissant had a soft chocolate filling as opposed to a harder chocolate. I liked the bostock better but both were yummy. A small hole in the wall by a river. We ate our pastries on a swing across the river. Everyone in the area is super friendly. Good vibes and good pastries.
