My mom and my brother had an appointment in downtown Canandaigua when I was home visiting a couple…read moreweeks ago. My mom said "walk around downtown and take some pics" I did that. as I was doing that I came across this little bakery. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE LOVE LOVE local bakeries vs buying the processed crap at the stores or buying things at Wegmans, Albertsons, etc bakeries where they no longer bake at the actual stores anymore. Thats just sad. Anyway, I walked in here. The lady was nice. She seemed a little sketched out though for some reason, but super kick back at the same time if that makes sense? lol Anyway, told her I was just checking things out and I would let her know if I needed anything. She came back out from the front and asked again if I needed anything. So, I got a blueberry muffin. I LOVE blueberry muffins, but I never buy them anymore bc I no longer eat most things like that. It's a sad, lonely choice I made....to cut out all the tasty treats in the world lol NOT THIS DAY THO!! haha! I could not resist. The looked incredible and for $2 a piece being as big as they were...I had to. UNBELIEVABLY delicious. I was so happy I got it. Was so tempted to get a few other things, but Ive been so good with my diet...I had to refrain from doing so and just accept my boring, no sugar treats, kind of life lol I absolutely recommend this place. Prices are decent, the lady is nice, but she should realize that not all of us are bad :) The place itself is super cute, very homey, lots to look at and HEY! its a local bakery! You should always support places like this...over Wegmans and certainly over....ugh Walmart! Thanks for reading, Yelpers! Cheers!

I am a cake connoisseur. I test cakes from many bakeries and compare the taste and texture…read more I am not as concerned with decoration or presentation, although an attractive cake is nice to have. It is very unfortunate that the old ethnic bakeries have gone away and replaced primarily by grocery stores. It appears that the children of the old ethnic bakeries saw how hard their parents worked and decided to become doctors and lawyers and such. The delicious cakes of our long ago memories are gone. I visit a lot of new bakeries trying to relive my past memories. It appears that most of these new bakeries utilize standard cake mixes available from a variety of sources. They may add an ingredient of two to try to make it taste more homemade, but they all fail my taste and texture tests. Most are light and fluffy cake with average icing. They do look good however, but that is not what I look for. I look for taste and texture. I was very pleasantly surprised with our recent visit to Sweet Solutions on Main Street in Canandaigua. I ordered two large cakes for a corporate event. One was Vanilla/Vanilla and the other was Triple Chocolate. WOW ! Both cakes were exceptional in both taste and texture. They looked great too. Both cakes were devoured by the 45 people in attendance. Sweet Solutions mentioned that each cake would serve about 40 people. They must serve small slices. Our guests had two and three helpings apiece. Everyone raved on how great the cakes were. I personally had three pieces (large by the way) and would have had more the next day if any were available. The visit to Sweet Solutions took me back to the 60's and 70's when Shreck's and Vecchi's bakeries in Canandaigua when I was a child. Both were exceptional bakeries that were local institutions. There are a few bakeries in Rochester, NY who make some nice cakes but they are not as good as Sweet Solutions in Canandaigua, NY. My wife is ordering another today ! I am overjoyed to finally find a bakery that can meet my high standards. I can honestly say that Sweet Solutions is the best in the greater Rochester area. Thanks for reading. This is an adorable little bakery that my fiancée and I found after having lunch with a friend…read more Their baked goods are quality and their servings are large. I also must say, they're pretty inexpensive for what you get, which is always a huge plus. When we arrived, we were offered free samples of their protein brownie, which was so good that I had to get one. Protein baked goods, I personally find to often be big misses so to find one that was this delicious was revolutionary to me. Beyond that, my fiancée and I both got tiramisu and flavored lattes and our friend ordered a large hot chocolate, a cronut (croissant doughnut) and some cookies for later. Our total came to only about $30 for all of us. The lattes were really delicious and although I couldn't taste the peppermint in mine (which I've been finding happens often recently, some places do it better than others) the latte itself was so good that I didn't mind the lack of the added flavor. The lattes were also really good sizes and I feel like I could have opted for a small next time. The tiramisu was nice and light while delicately balanced with slight espresso flavor. The cake was moist and soft which was a perfect compliment to the fluffy cloud of mascarpone. Our friend's hot chocolate was, again, enormous almost to the point of being comically large. She ended up really enjoying it, but taking most of it in a to-go cup. We all tried a bit of her cronut as well because it's been a long time since I'd had one and neither of them had ever had it. It was so yummy! It reminded me a lot of fried dough taste wise, but way better. The outside was a little crispy, almost like a churro, but the inside was layered like a flaky croissant. Whatever it reminded me of, it was extremely good and I'm totally getting it next time I'm there! Overall, this is a great little cafe to sit down with the company of friends and have a nice treat and a chat. The baked goods are delicious, largely portioned, and a great value. I'd highly recommend checking this place out.

Back in the day this spot was a music store, not like Area Records where CDs, tapes, vinyl were…read moresold, but instruments. Not even sure when they closed to be honest. Kind of sad to see it gone after seeing it my entire life. There is a bakery there now. It's basically strictly...order and pick it up type of place. They sell cookies and other pastries at the front. It's a "help yourself" and you scan a QR code to pay. So! Ok, I do love the new technology where you can eat out and scan a QR code and pay that way. Or using a QR code for so many other things. I don't however like this set up. I think it's really weird. Cash is also an option here. I wanted to originally pay cash. I got 2 cookies and a brownie. Says "ring bell if you need change" I press the little button 3x and I can see people in the back. Not one person came out after I hit the button. That's booooo! It's like, why have it if you're going to ignore it?! Just close the doors to the public and have it strictly as an online business. I love love trying bakeries like this vs buying anything store bought. When I'm home, I look for places like this, Amish farms, Mennonite farms..any place that sells fresh baked cookies. In Idaho we don't have many great bakeries and if they are around...they are miles away and driving in Boise traffic these days is SO NOT worth the hassle for a cookie lol Also, if really don't eat many cookies and stuff but shoooot when I'm here in NY visiting and I'm close to Amish and Mennonite farms where they make INCREDIBLE baked goods...I definitely indulge lol. The cookies here and brownies were... ya know, good, but would I write home to mama about them? Nah. Hell, I'm staying at my moms and I didn't even tell her about them after I ate them. The cookies were pipe $2 a piece, I think, small brownie was $3. Honestly, cookies should be .75 and brownies... $1.00 There was really no variation in tastes between the two. They use something in their baked goods that made each one taste exactly the same...except you obviously could taste the chocolate on top of whatever they use, in the brownie. Would I recommend? I mean, maybe? If someone asked, I'd be like "there's a bakery in downtown Geneva, buuuut..." and then shrug my shoulders and give that crooked mouth look like... meh Now, maybe their cakes and whatever else they make are bomb af. I'll never know bc 1) I won't be going back lol and 2) I don't see myself ever buying a cake. Again, I see bakeries like this, it's a small business, I love supporting small businesses especially in a town where I grew up, went to high school in, etc...I see them and have to try. I tried it and now... I'm good: I can't say anything about the staff, because they ignored me lol, the place is small, it's clean. It's a bakery haha! Thanks for reading. Cheers, YelperSweets!
