Location is across of the hotels in Koolina and there is a small paid parking lot that is shared with other small shops. The area and restaurant is catering more to tourists that want american food with a local twist. There was nice live music by a local artist which was very nice but unfortunately there were so many flies all over the place. Thankfully they tried their best by having those portable fly fans on the tables to deter the flies. We started off trying their virgin maitai which was pretty good and not too sweet with their famous pineapple foam on too. Then we got their house made gnocchi which was very soft and complemented well with the spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms and pesto sauce. The kalua pork pizza with pineapple was really good and also had the pesto sauce inside that complemented the pork and pineapple well. Finally we got the fresh fish sandwich that tasted pretty decent, nothing amazing. We would've considered the macadamia nut crusted fish instead but didn't really want to spend over $50 on that one entree.
If you're in Ko Olina, there aren't many spots to grab dinner outside of the resort restaurants, so Monkeypod ended up being a spot we went to multiple times on our trip. We ate here our first night of the trip and had an amazing time. I wish I remembered our bartenders name but she was amazing and such a good vibe. We first went to monkeypod while in Maui, and I fell in love with their jalapeno mashed potatoes so I knew I had to get an order of that, and it was good as I remembered! Other things we ate that we enjoyed were the cast iron shrimp. Great flavor, the only problem is that it comes with like 4-5 shrimp, and they aren't large shrimp. Wish this dish came with more shrimp. The cheeseburger was good but not great. If you are craving a burger, this one definitely will satisfy that craving though. The catch of the day tacos were surprisingly good. The bulgogi tacos were solid but I'd opt for the fresh fish tacos instead. For dessert we tried their banana cream pie since it was popular. This one I didn't get the hype though, just an average piece of banana cream pie. For drinks, the mai tai is definitely the way to go. That lilikoi foam, so darn good! We definitely threw back a couple of these and enjoyed every sip. Overall, considering there aren't a ton of options in the area, this spot is great if you are looking to satisfy multiple different cravings. The live music at nights really elevates the experience and whoever was singing that day was amazing. Would I go again? definitely!
We got invited to dinner at Monkeypod Kitchen with a big group of friends and their families, and I have to say it was such a great experience. The food was absolutely delicious -- very flavorful and surprisingly quick to come out considering the size of our group. Our server was amazing. She was so friendly, attentive, and made everyone feel welcome and special. She explained all the specials very well, and when a few menu items ran out, she was very apologetic and accommodating. I especially loved the rib eye and all the sides that came with the entrée. Everything was packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience with great food, great service, and a fun atmosphere. Would definitely come back again.
This is a wonderful destination for a memorable family dinner while on vacation. From the moment we arrived, the lively atmosphere and live music created an inviting and relaxed island dining experience. The standout dish of the evening was undoubtedly the lobster deviled eggs -- a creative and indulgent twist on a classic appetizer. The richness of the lobster paired beautifully with the creamy filling, and it completely convinced me that lobster absolutely belongs atop deviled eggs. What truly elevated the experience, however, was the thoughtful and attentive service. The staff went above and beyond in making our table feel welcomed, especially by checking in on our little one and kindly offering complimentary buttery noodles, which was such a warm and appreciated gesture. Between the flavorful cocktails, well-executed dishes, and exceptional hospitality, the entire evening was a delight from start to finish. I would gladly return on my next visit to the island.
Eh, I think this place is hyped more than it should be. Service was ok... some delays in attentiveness for water refills, etc. The vibe is happening with live music, plenty of options for seating indoors or out. Food wasn't anything spectacular to be real. And prices were as to be expected for the location but truly not worth the meal. One and done, I'm good. Best part of the it all? Watching the train pass by!
What is delightful location. Many social media post advised us to have at least one meal here as opposed to our resort. We had two during our short visit. I will note that the prices were not significantly or even notably less than the prices at the resort, but it still made for a short walk and great service. If you are driving, there's plenty of parking in the plaza is nice to walk around. In an unrelated incident, someone had fallen and needed to go to the hospital. The staff were all attentive, but also not in the way. I believe that says something good about the vibe.
Staff was super friendly and nice. Was happy to come by and check this place out. It was close to the resort that we were staying at. I know that they are a local chain I believe and there are a couple of locations but definitely didn't disappoint. We had a 14 month old and the minute we got seated, they let us know that they had complementary pasta and cheese coming out for the boy which I really appreciated. Didn't even know that this was a thing I wish that we had this everywhere. Food was delicious and the live music that we came into towards the end was great. Wish that we would showed up a little earlier to hear more of it.
I visited this restaurant with a friend. Great views of the mountain and sky when it is clear out. Interior is a bustling tiki vibe and family friendly. The service was a little slow so we had to remind the waitress to come see us. But the food and drinks were good. The mai tai here is my favorite.
What a cool place in Ko Olina. It was just a 20min walk from the last lagoon we were chilling at so we decided to walk there. We relished the burgers and fish and chips. Everything was delicious and grateful to have tried it out. The place is very expensive but they serve good food with local ingredients hence we came here for lunch. We thought it would be special so opted to spend a " fancy" meal here instead of the other choices nearby. We went for the above options since those were on the affordable side. The ambiance was lovely with live music, greenery and good food. Service was relatively fast and bathrooms were clean. However, we did not enjoy the fact that our waitress brought us tiny sips of beer we wanted to try before ordering. It felt really cheap/ stingy for them to do that and they only allowed 2 to try. Also when the burgers came they had put very little portions of mustard and ketchup. We had to kindly ask for more and then she brought us bigger portions. We enjoyed the choco cream pie, the lemon crunch and chocolate ice creams. Delicious all of them. Just left feeling they were a bit stingy with certain things. And when ur paying so much for lunch and we ordered nicely for all, it feels it was not needed to make customers feel that way.
*3.5* I haven't been here in years and I'm glad we decided to give this place another try. We came on a Saturday during happy hour - all appetizers were half off (excluding anything with seafood in it) and all pizzas were $16 vs ~$24 normal price. I got the kalua pork and pineapple pizza with fresh jalapeños, this was super good and crispy! Definitely my favorite meal of the night. The wings are also delicious here they are baked/grilled and very simple but full of flavor. The corn chowder was tasty although it wasn't very hot they replaced it with a hot bowl for us. In all honestly I cannot recommend this place outside of happy hour because they prices are a bit insane for the value, but keep in mind you are on resort grounds. Happy hour yes, dinner service pass. It can get quite loud in here and it is open air dining, the ambiance is not very intimate and it's more of a bar vibe.
5 star drinks place! I went here with the family primarily for celebratory drinks. I love that you are able to sit outside and there are umbrellas everywhere for shade. Drinks-wise we were not disappointed. The Mai Tai was especially good on a hot day, but there was something for everyone. The food had some shining moments. The lobster deviled eggs and all the salads we tried were fantastic. We found the pizzas and wings to be only ok. I would still recommend this place any day, but make sure you go during happy hour!
This is our second Monkeypod location. We went to the Maui location a couple months ago. This experience was far better. We made reservations ahead of time for 6:30pm Monday. We walked across the street from Aulani and browsed the cute shops before checking in around 6:15pm. We were given a buzzer and were told our table will be ready around 6:30pm which it was. We were told to go upstairs and we were seated indoors in a cute booth. Our waitress Olivia was very sweet and was very nice to our 4 year old toddler. I got a cocktail - it's not on their website menu. It was very good. My husband got a beer. Both came out very quickly. Monkey Business Saimin - 13 locally made sun noodles, broccoli, chicken broth- Same last the maui location. Comes with quite a bit of noodles. They are thick and filling. Soup was light. Fresh Caught Fish Tacos - 31 chipotle mole (contains peanuts), salsa fresca, sour cream, cilantro, cabbage, corn tortillas - My husband also got a side of broccoli. It was very spicy for cooked well. Broccoli Salad - 19 house-made romesco (contains nuts), point reyes blue cheese, cranberry - I added chicken. Comes with two slices of flat bread. This was surprisingly good. Would totally get this again and not your routine salad. Chocolate Cream Pie valrhona dark chocolate pastry cream, laie vanilla whipped cream, homemade pie crust - This time we opted for the chocolate cream pie over the strawberry. This was insanely delicious.
Monkeypod Kitchen lived up to the expectations, especially since we were looking for options that were walking distance. The drinks were the highlight. They were strong, while tasting wonderful: - Mai Tai: The tartness of the honey-lilikoi foam (passion fruit) balanced out the sweetness perfectly - After Midnight: The grapefruit really came through, without being bitter/sour or acidic - Bartenders Special: Ube that tasted fresh and not artificial! - Manfuego: Requesting it without the chili pepper was a mistake; get it with the heat or skip it The food was hit-or-miss. The fish tacos were the favorite, which were mahi-mahi. The fish was fresh, and very well seasoned with a great citrus finish. Even the folks at the table who "do not like fish" were surprised by how good it was after a bite. We will likely order more seafood dishes next time. When it came to the service, Daniela was stellar! She ensured that we were taken care of throughout the evening, especially the kids, and her recommendations were spot on. Not to mention her patience; it was not our best showing, haha. There was live music, which we enjoyed while also being able to have conversations. We were at a bar height table, which was plenty big for the 6 of us. We will likely be back, since we were eying the happy hour options and the second floor was intriguing.
We visited Monkeypod Kitchen mainly for their happy hour, and of course for the famous lilikoi Mai Tais--which absolutely lived up to our expectations (yes, we've had them many times before). They were fresh, well-balanced, and exactly what you want in a signature island cocktail. The happy hour scene had that classic Monkeypod energy: lively bar crowd, great island vibe, and plenty of fresh air with the open, outdoor feel. It's a fun spot to settle in and enjoy a drink or two. We didn't dive too deep into the food menu this time, but we did try the truffle fries. While they were cooked well, they were a bit light on the truffle flavor for our taste. Service was excellent throughout--friendly, attentive, and engaging without being overbearing. All in all, a solid happy hour stop with fantastic cocktails and great island atmosphere. We'll definitely be back for the drinks--and next time, maybe more of the food. read more

Such a great time here! The food was delicious and our server was phenomenal. We tried their popular drinks and strawberry cream dessert. Our entrees were from burgers, to fish and chips to steaks. Everything was delicious. Worth the 30min wait. read more
Great service. Awesome ambiance. Food tends to the local food with a fancy twist. Some advice: make reservations!!! The saimin is bomb. Bar selection is good. Pizzas, good. Dessert, good. Best visit here to date. Came here for drinks only, and in a very small time frame. Sat/ ordered at the bar and our drinks arrived quickly. All were delicious, and $4 off each with Happy Hour going on. Sounded like a live singer but didn't see anyone. Beautiful setting. We had a great experience tonight at our first ever dinner at the famous Monkeypod restaurant in Kapolei! The food was excellent: I had the Cheeseburger and a pretty awesome dessert as well. Monkeypod is always a stop we make when we are in Oahu! They have great food, drinks, ambiance, and service. The white walker drink is always my go to. Very well balanced and refreshing. All of the flatbreads are good, as are the truffle fries, and both are on the happy hour menu! The potstickers were kind of disappointing in flavor and portion for the price. The fresh caught fish tacos were very flavorful and a big hit for our group. They have multiple locations but this was across from our hotel which made it an easy choice. We had dinner at Monkeypod for my birthday and retirement. I've been here several times and always had great food. We started with poke tacos appetizer which was delicious. For the main courses, we ordered gnocchi for the little one, lobster and fish fettuccine for my wife, Mahi Mahi for my mother in law and I got a Jamaican jerk chicken with garlic rice and fried banana fritters. We noted that the lobster and fish dish had chili popper flakes in it even though it's not mentioned in the menu so it had a little unexpected heat, and my her chicken was extremely salty. Not sure if it was marinated too long or why it was so salty. I couldn't eat the chicken and I'm not afraid of salt but I could feel a nose bleed coming on, so I stopped. Our server took the chicken off the check and offered us a free pie. The server was quite attentive of drink refills and always checked in with our dining experience. There's plenty of tables on the first and second floors but open to the outside. Unfortunately we were eating at night and I had a mosquito bite my legs without realizing it. Overall, we enjoyed the experience despite a few food faux pas. The meal was moderately priced but consistent with a nicer meal in Ko'Olina. Mahalo to Monkeypod Kitchen. read more

Monkeypod Kitchen in Kapolei is a wonderful farm to table restaurant with chill vibes and great food! My husband and I visited and was sat quickly. We heard so many great things about this spot and many YouTubers who visit Aulani recommend this spot. The most memorable thing of the restaurant happens to be the most random thing... the Le Creuset Salt + Pepper Shakers! IM OBSSEESSSSEDDDDD with Le Creuset and seeing this was so awesome, especially since there are no locations of this company on island. I ordered the Kailua Pork Pizza and it was delicious! I loved the crust and Neapolitan style pizza. My husband got fish and chips and we ordered the Banana Cream Pie for dessert. read more
I really like Monkeypod Kitchen. I've come here many times. It's so beautiful inside. It totally feels like you're on vacation. The best deal might be lunch or happy hour but dinner is great too, just more expensive. Our server was really nice and gave us great suggestions. He was really surprised when none of us ordered the Mai Tai as that is one of their specialties. But the food was really good. Very fresh, and not overly filling. Last visit, we stopped by for a quick bite before hitting up the lagoons. The gnocchi is one of my go-tos with a virgin mai tai. Consistent quality everytime. Service was decent, and the live music is always nice. read more
Great service but the food is mediocre at best and the ambiance is like eating in a parking lot surrounded by flies and birds. The staff are very friendly and attentive and great at what they do. That's about the only thing this place has going for it. Parking is a small paid lot with rates higher than Waikīkī if you can believe it. And they don't validate. We paid $8.40 for an hour and a half! But it was happy hour and aloha Friday so what the heck? We got a table outside and were immediately SWARMED by flies. And those annoying dumb little zebra doves that just get all up in your business. There's not great airflow and there's no view, you're just under these umbrellas that cook you in the sun as it shifts in the sky. There's not enough fly swatter helicopters for each table so we had to wait for one to be available 1/2 way thru our meal. Even if you sit inside the place is wide open so there's no a/c. The chicken wings were undercooked and tough. The seasoning was on point but you really had to fight the bone to get it to part with the meat. $22 or $11 HH. The lamb sausage pizza had a terrible crust. Burnt and dry edges and floppy and undercooked in the middle. Toppings lacked flavor. It needed onions or something to give it some texture. $14 for HH. The burger was ok, nice fresh bun and tasty meat but it's $21 and then they charge $3-4 extra for a small portion of add on fries. They make a mean mai tai. I tried a "white walker" tiki drink with gin, like a piña colada and it was gross. Our server asked how it was and I said "I wish I ordered a second mai tai instead and he offered to switch it out which I really appreciated. I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to return but if I was staying nearby and could walk there I'd go for HH. Otherwise it's a tourist trap and you don't even get to enjoy island vibes or a view or air conditioning for that. read more

3.5/5, 3 for the food. Extra points for the service and there was nice live music at night. Service is very nice and the food is fine, but not my favorite and overpriced in some things. Got the lobster deviled eggs which were $22 - tasted nice, but it's literally two eggs split apart with a little bit of lobster on top. I also got the cheese burger and added avocado - but the burger itself had a coleslaw I didn't like and then it didn't have a lot of flavor. The burger also doesn't come with fries and it's already like $25, so a bit steep. lamb chops had a soy sauce type of marinade and those were better with a nice cornbread cake on the side. It's a fine place to eat, but I'd suggest getting the pizza instead. read more

Be sure to try: Ali'i Margarita, Lobster Deviled Eggs, Taro Ravioli, Vegan Tortilla Soup, Fresh Island Fish Sandwich, Vegan Tortilla Soup and don't forget the Chocolate Cream Pie!! Service, atmosphere, and location are 10/10. Skip the Coca Cola as it tastes flat, but I found that to be the case at most restaurants in Hawaii. read more
We were looking for a change of scenery for dinner while staying at a hotel across the street and easily made a reservation online for our party of 5. It's outdoor seating but shaded and they offer fans to keep the flies away. There was live music, the musician was soooo good! We really enjoyed listening to him while enjoying our meal. We ordered the lobster deviled eggs as our appetizer and it was good, 4/5 maybe needing a little more flavor or seasoning perhaps. Also ordered the wings 3/5- we have family from Buffalo, NY and so most other wings don't measure up. I ordered the fish and chips and my fish was a bit dry but the fries were so good! Overall, service was great and our server was very attentive and checked in with us regularly. Overall, we enjoyed the vibes and proximity as well as the different menu options. read more
Monkypods in Kapolei never disappoints. Went there for some drinks and pupus and to listen to live music. We decided to share the Hamakua Wild Mushroom with Truffle Oil Pizza., which was really good. We sat at the bar and the bartender was attentive and friendly. The have plenty of parking and you pay by app. Check them out when you're in Koolina. Aloooooooooha and happy eating. read more

When in Hawaii you definitely need to stop by Monkeypod. They have serval locations and you can't go wrong with any of them. The food does range from good to I'll definitely get that again. But it is expensive, I know it's Hawaii and I get it so I'll recommend coming for happy hour and trying that out 1st. Service has been great and consistent and they do have a beautiful restaurant, so nice with plenty of room. Great for special occasions and they do have live music which has always been good. read more

We had a reservation at Monkeypod after our flight in from California. I pushed it a bit just because we weren't sure if we wanted to rest up and change for dinner or go straight there. We ended up changing our clothes without resting but were really tired for our 6:30 pm reservation as it was 9:30 PT back home. We ordered a Fresh Squeezed beer ($10) and a fresh pineapple juice pint ($9) to start. The pineapple juice was so refreshing and delicious, but pricey! I decided on the Poke Tacos ($24) and the Garlic Truffle Oil Fries ($13). The poke tacos were perfect. The wonton shells were crispy and yummy. The tuna was seasoned well, although my husband likes to dump soy sauce on everything Asian food related so he asked for additional soy sauce which was provided. The fries were disappointing to say the least. They were a little soggy and I barely got any garlic truffle flavor from them. I did have a sinus cold but I tasted the other foods fine so I did not I lose my sense of smell or taste. The fries were bland. The house-made ketchup was a nice touch. My husband did not have much of an appetite so he barely ate. It was a little pricey but it's Hawaii. Our server was fine. We were just tired and wanted to go back to the room to rest after a long travel day. read more

The best food in the Ko Olina area! Indoor-outdoor atmosphere is really cool (except the flies and birds) and they have live music! The Virgin Mai tai was a disappointment - only tasted like POG juice. The fish & chips and bulgogi tacos were amazing! read more
Glad we stopped by for happy hour. They have some great discounted menu items. It was great to get a jumpstart on the evening. The pork and pineapple pizza was the favourite for our entire table. Our server was very kind and attentive and you can't beat the outdoor atmosphere on a perfect Hawaiian day. read more

We were so blown away by Merriman's on Big Island and finally decided to try Monkeypod after learning that it was owned by Merriman's. Maybe our expectations were too high but we were not impressed despite hearing so many good things about this place. The ambiance was nice on a Saturday afternoon with live music but their food and service were underwhelming. We got their Kailua pork and pineapple pizza, which was okay. Their crust is very thin and we thought it was okay? Same with their chicken wings just okay. Did not like their broccoli salad and they let me change it to the kale salad, which was good but way too drenched in their sauce. Their wheat beer was good though! They also don't validate parking. All in all I think it's a tourist trap among the resorts there. Again, the ambiance was nice for folks who are visiting, but if you are just looking for good food at a fair price, there are better options. Waiting for the Merriman's in Honolulu to reopen so we can try it! read more

Farm to table eatery & bar for Hawaiian food, beer & cocktails, served in a casual space. Monkeypod Kitchen by Merriman, this location had a different vibe! Everything was excellent and the service was amazing. We got sprinkled since we are on the outside patio, they came to shift our table so we can stay outside and enjoy our experience. We got the Blind Tiger to drink up, Kalua Pork & Pineapple pizza, and Organic Macadamia Nut Crusted Fresh Fish! It was very good. The server ask us are we celebrating something, it was our bday celebration trip. He offered free dessert to both of us. We were SO full, we declined. He convinced us to take to go with us. This was one of the best meals and experience we had on our whole 7 day tip. read more
Delicious and tasty!! Wife and I had lunch here last Friday and it was wonderful. The food was delicious! We had the lobster deviled eggs for starters and they were so yummy! Delicious chunks of lobster on a creamy deviled egg. So yummy! I had the Mahi Mahi grilled fish sandwich with fries and it was fresh tasting with crispy greens. This sandwich was delicious! My wife had the grilled fish tacos and said they were super tasty! Fresh fish and so yummy! The service was wonderful and spot on! The ambiance is very comfortable and I wished we could have stayed there all day eating and drinking! Great place to go!! read more

This place has the best vibes and is a good spot for both small or large parties - good overall pick while in Hawaii. In comparison to a couple years back, I felt like the food + price for the portions really wasn't that great this time around (unfortunately). We got the fish tacos and fish sandwich and the fish sandwich was very tiny (around $23) and did not come with a side (fries cost extra). It was so small, my boyfriend could have ordered three of them. Tacos were decent portion but I just felt the flavor lacked on some of their items since I was here last! However, service was perfect - we had an absolutely wonderful time and service could not have been any better! To top it off, we sat outside on the patio and they had live music. Great spot for vibes and also don't forget to try their Mai Tai's! read more

Is there free parking?
The Ko Olina parking is free for 15 minutes, but anything after that you have to pay ($4.50 per hour).
Do they have other soup option than just the vegan tortilla soup?
Not seasonal soups. But the have fresh farm to table ingredients used in soups.
Do they have parking?
They do not have their own parking lot. You can pay to park in the lots surrounding the area.
Are there healthy vegan options here? I'm looking for legit plant foods not processed faux cheese, oils etc... Thanks!!
