STUNNING sunset views with a beautiful dinner and drinks. This is honestly one of my highlights of our Oahu trip since the vibes here are so peaceful and resort pleasant. Pre-fixe dinner was worth it with a four-course menu. I wasn't able to get a reservation since fully booked so we did a walk in and was able to get seated at 5:30pm, right in time for 6:30pm sunset. The four course menu had a bunch of items to choose from. Since it was my husband and I we both ordered different things to try it all. Some things were exceptional and others I wish I hadn't ordered like kabocha squash soup was super weird. Here's what we chose and what I recommend. Drinks: - Fourth Lagoon Cocktail: raspberry rosewater paired with elderflower liqueur was good, just wish it had a pretty flower with it! - non alcoholic lychee something drink was delicious Starters: - KABOCHA SQUASH SOUP - weird with shrimp body on top would not get again - VENISON TARTARE - yummy simple Appetizers: - AHI* - poke super good - HE'E - octopus with risotto was mushy and boring would not get again - PORK BELLY - should've got this after hearing neighbors saying how good and easily sliced it was like butter Entrees: - LOBSTER TAIL - OMG so good with gnocchi - "PANIOLO" WAGYU FILET* - steak is always a great option and delicious Dessert: - CITRUS BAR (Liliko'i Ganache | White Chocolate + Pistachio Crunch | Kalamansi Curd | Ginger Snap Tuile) had a little Mickey head design was SO GOOD - CHOCOLATE MOUSSE - really good too, no Mickey design sadly read more

We made reservations at Ama Ama Restaurant because we were staying at the Aulani Resort and Ama Ama had such good reviews. When we checked in, they were very hospitable and took a complimentary photo near the front kiosk. We waited momentarily and were seated in a both. There were overhead fans above us and we noticed there were gnats peppering our table. The gnats continued to engulf the table making it look like a Dalmatian and this triggered my daughter with high stress and anxiety. We hadn't ordered drinks or food yet. I went back to the hostess and said that we would like to be relocated to a table toward the outer side of the restaurant and away from the fans that were blowing gnats on the table. They apologized for the recent bug infestation and I got a text from my wife saying that the server was in the process of moving us to another table. I had a hard time believing that the staff noticed this issue and didn't rectify it without me having to say that it was problematic. Then after we moved, it was another 15 minutes before a server asked for our drink order. It was simple, three iced teas and an apple juice. My daughter got her juice but the iced tea didn't come for another 15 minutes. We were 50 minutes into being seated and we hadn't ordered food so I had to go back to the hostess and ask for the manager. The menu here is prix fixe at $140 for a four course meal and this is not including a kids meal for my daughter and drinks. I told the manger that I thought the service here was unacceptable and that we hadn't ordered our food or got our drinks almost an hour into service. He was apologetic and immediately met with the servers in the kitchen. We finally got our iced teas and the server said they were "special" and it was pineapple juice added to them, like a tropical Arnold Palmer. Here's a suggestion, please don't add stuff to our drinks. I know he was trying to be polite, but it was not very good. So our orders were taken almost an hour after being seated. At least there were no bugs where we were seated. My daughter was itchy and wouldn't stop scratching after the bug attack from our initial seating. I left and went to the Aulani amenities store inside the lobby of the hotel and returned with Benadryl. At this point my daughter just wanted to go back to the room and was exhausted. I too was a little disappointed at the overall night. I was celebrating my birthday and retirement, and this was not the special dinner I was expecting. When I got back to the hotel room, my wife texted that they were getting the meal "to go" and heading on their way back. Our server had mentioned that they were going to provide 2 of our meals gratis and I wanted to make sure my wife knew this. She said they didn't charge for the meal at all. I think the restaurant was worried about my daughter having a medical issue and asked if we needed help. I feel like the restaurant had observed our continual dismay and noted things they observed but took no active action to resolve along the way. For a high end restaurant, customer service is as important if not more important than the food. By the way, my wife brought back our food to the hotel room and it was less than stellar. The portions were scant, the scallops undercooked, and the catch of the day which was Hawaiian Ono caught locally was overcooked and dry. So service aside, the food was not particularly spectacular. I hope Yelpers pay attention to my review and really think twice about eating here. Just because it's inside the Aulani Resort, it doesn't mean that it's good. Dinner tonight was an epic failure. Even if they didn't charge us, it was an unpleasant experience not worth repeating. I have not included any photos in my review due to my utter dismay. read more

Wow! My husband and I had the pleasure of celebrating our 2-year anniversary here, and it was such a special experience. The food was absolutely delicious, and the views paired with the incredible service made the night unforgettable. Our server, Brittany, was incredibly sweet and brought so much joy and positivity while serving our food and drinks. Tim, the manager, also stopped by to share his gratitude and appreciation, which truly meant a lot to us. We loved sharing laughs and good food with the cast members--they made us feel like part of their Ohana. We couldn't have asked for a better way to celebrate together. We had seen mixed reviews on Facebook groups and frankly- no idea why because 'Ama 'Ama was one of the best dinners we had on our vacation! Not only was the food great but the service was incredible. We did the suggested wine pairings with our meals, but our server could tell that we were enjoying it so much that he brought out his own recommendations which in my opinion often were even better then the pre-selected pairings. This type of service is exactly the "above and beyond" that makes this a must repeat when we return. On the resort, this venue has some of the best views of sunset and I highly recommend! We've been DVC for over ten years and always have dinner here when at the hotel. The menu format has been changing ever since our first visit years ago. The venue is stunning and the service is fantastic, but what they are charging now for a prix fixe menu is excessive. Especially for pre-teens. We had dinner next door at Mina's the other night and while that was pricy as well it was still 40% less than what we paid for dinner at Ama Ama last night. Also with all the recent rains the amount of gnats was unreal. We went to Ama Ama after mass (St. Jude's) for Christmas Eve dinner. What a delight. I got the wine pairing with my 4 course meal. Taylor was an excellent waiter. I really loved the whole experience. We had a beautiful view of the ocean with the crescent moon looking down at us! The atmosphere was tranquil and very relaxing. I'd recommend they add more top shelf tequila options but other than that it was a delicious meal and wonderful experience. I like how they added the complimentary bread to nibble on in between courses. This is definitely a must do for a couple or family staying at Aulani. Quality is top notch. If you're a visitor to the islands or a Kama'aina and you're looking for some good food and Hawaiian entertainment this is the place. It's nestled Downstairs at the Aulani Disney Hotel at Ko'olina. There is the Ama Ama restaurant but go to the bar. There is also seating outside, which is better to enjoy the music. You can get there early and valet your vehicle or self park. No worries, you can get your parking validation. I say get there early because happy hour starts at 5:30 but before that you can walk around the hotel and check it out. I believe you can make a reservation or just walk in. While you're there don't forget to check out the two gift shops upstairs too. You're gonna wanna stay there!! read more

Such an incredible experience! We made a reservation right before sunset so that we could enjoy the sunset view from our table, and it was absolutely beautiful! The cast members were all very nice from when we checked in throughout our meal. Getting seated was smooth and the restaurant was mostly empty when we initially arrived. We were seated at a table with a very nice view of the ocean! The dining experience is a 4-course prix fixe meal. For my dishes, I chose the smoked salmon pate, ahi tuna, scallops, and citrus bar. We had an amuse bouche which was a hamachi sashimi which was very flavorful! The smoked salmon pate was also very delicious and had a nice flavor to it. It was a touch on the salty side but it came with some taro chips that went with it really nicely. We then received two different slices of bread and a cracker. I forget exactly what they were but the honey bread was so good! I really enjoyed it but it was so much bread that I couldn't finish it unfortunately. I had the ahi next, which reminded me of an ahi poke. The pieces were cut into small cubes and each piece was well marinated, and they were delicious! There were also some pieces of uni as well which I really enjoy! My partner had the kurobuta pork and this was also so good! The pork was so flavorful and the texture was so nice and tender. This dish surprised us both with just how good it was! For my main course, I had the scallops which came with three scallops, cauliflower prepared 3 ways, and some pork. Everything on this dish was very delicious, and the scallops were the perfect texture! So good! My dessert was the citrus bar and it was so good and was a really nice tart dessert. It was a very nice way to close out from a very rich meal. The passion fruit was delicious and I loved the calamansi as well. And the presentation was so beautiful! Nothing says "aloha" quite like brushing bugs out of your wine glass. The ambiance? Well, if you enjoy screaming children echoing across every surface like a live daycare performance, you're in luck. Forget romantic oceanfront dining--this is more like eating in a Chuck E. Cheese with a $130 tasting menu. But wait, the experience starts before you even get to your table. To reach the restaurant, you must trek through the pool area, which reeks of chlorine and eau de toddler pee. It's the olfactory equivalent of a public restroom at summer camp. By the time you arrive at the table, you're already craving a shower. The food? Slightly above mediocre. Think: plated pretty enough for Instagram, but tasting like something a mid-tier country club might serve at a wedding buffet. Not offensive, but not even close to worth the hype, price, or the live-insect entertainment package. To be fair, the server and assistant were absolute gems--kind, warm, and patient saints who deserve hazard pay for working in a dining room that doubles as a termite mating ground. 'AMA'AMA was everything I hoped it would be and more. We were lucky enough to snag a reservation for Thanksgiving without being resort guests for 5:30. We arrived a little early with the hopes of being set before the sun went down, and they were so kind at the front desk. We got seated just after 5:15 at the perfect table. The service was amazing from the very start and never went down. With two people handling our table, we never wanted for anything. Waters were always refilled in a timely manner and dirty dishes removed quickly and quietly. The restaurant faces directly at the ocean, and if you time it correctly, you can watch the sun set which is absolutely stunning! During the winter, that means getting one of the first dinner reservations of the night. We watched the sun go down while listening to live music eating amazing food. With was perfection. For food, I got the special thanksgiving meal, and my son ordered off the regular menu. I love that you had the option for both. First came the bread service, and it was delicious! My meal included things like squash soup, seasonal salad, roast turkey, herb stuffing with cranberry sauce and pumpkin cheesecake at the end. My son's included venison tartare, octopus risotto, steak and the most amazing potatoes with a chocolate dessert at the end. We sat for almost two hours as courses came out, sharing bites of each others food. The mocktails we got were also great. I got the cranberry bliss and he got one with orange juice. Absolutely stunning ocean-side sunset views and delicious food! It's a prix fixe 4-course meal including a starter, appetizer, entree, and dessert. There's also free bread and a small opening dish of hamachi sashimi that was really good. My husband and I ordered the ahi tuna, island crudo, and octopus over risotto as our appetizers (paid an extra $20 for an additional appetizer) and the scallop and lobster as our entrees. All the food was delicious with the seafood incredibly fresh and plump. I got the chocolate dessert and my husband got the pistachio with flan, which were also both great and creative dishes. What a delectable 4 course BIRTHDAY dinner! My hubby surprised me with a reservation at AMA AMA while we were staying at Aulani. They have a 4 course menu ($125 per person) not including drinks and majority of their menu naturally is gluten free...if that's the case I'm in! The restaurant is located right next to another one of their restaurants - Off The Hook (more casual restaurant but still delish). You have a view of the ocean/lagoon and a perfect view of sunset. Their menu might rotate but here's what I indulged in... 1st course - Kabocha squash soup. The way this soup is presented is gorgeous. It was delish. 2nd course - He'e - couldn't resist having some octopus and risotto! Yum. 3rd course - Scallops - this is my go to when it's on a menu. They were sooooo good. 4th course - Coconut Flan ...what's more Hawaiian than something with coconut. And they went over the top with the little accoutrements to celebrate my big day. On a recent trip to Oahu, my sister and I had the opportunity to celebrate our birthdays with our spouses over a wonderful dinner at 'Ama 'Ama. An open air restaurant, it is located on the coastline of Disney's Aulani resort. Throughout dinner, they ensured our drinks reminded full and our place settings promptly changed out.The menu and wines were fully introduced and explained. Did I mention that we dined on the edge of the Pacific surrounded by a warm tropical breeze? 'Ama 'Ama has a prix fixe menu that has something for every pallet. I started with the smoked salmon pat, followed by octopus served over a miso Parmesan risotto. For my main course, I enjoyed the local catch over asparagus and sea salad. Dessert was a ganache with white chocolate pistachio crunch and small citrus curds. Was a truly memorable and delightful meal. My wife enjoyed a green salad, followed by a wonderful pork belly in their Huli Huli glaze. It was almost enough to be an entree! She was please wither entree which was the Way Filet served with a Bordelaise sauce. Predictably, she selected the chocolate mousse for her dessert. We arrived at Aulani on Tuesday and wow it's every bit as magical as everyone says! The staff has been so kind and welcoming, truly making us feel like family. Last night we celebrated our anniversary at AMA'AMA The food was amazing even our little guy loved his mac and cheese and bread! The view was absolutely breathtaking, and although there were a few rough patches (toddler life ), it felt so wonderful to enjoy a nice dinner together. The staff could totally tell how flustered we were and went above and beyond brought him a coloring page, and even the wine sommelier stopped by to chat and asked our server to bring out carrots and ranch for our little guy It was such a sweet reminder of how much the Aulani team truly cares for their guests. Fine dining open space restaurant within the Disney Aulani resort. Location is super convenient for us as we stayed in the same facility. So it was just a walk downstairs for dinner. Although, we are Disney resort guests, we still need to secure reservation a week ahead of time. Service as always is top notch. They're friendly, kind, helpful, and very efficient. They're not pushy and gave you time to order and making sure you understood the menu from reading it, ordering it, til they brought the food out. The staffs made sure we know what the dish convey and are careful if you have allergy. Food as always has a preset menu selections with very fresh ingredients and on par amazing with taste and flavors. My only recommendation since this was our second time dined at this place is for the chef to create more dishes in the menu. We would love to return annually as we vacation here and it will be nice to not have the same yummy food selection. Creativity, passion, and dreams; isn't it what Disney concept is all about?! I highly recommend booking a reservation at 5:30 or 6 so that you can soak up the breathtaking views and especially watch the sunsetting. If you're staying at Aulani, and can swing it, you must dine at Ama Ama! It's definitely pricey, but was so worth it.We spent 12 days in Hawaii - covering 4 islands, and this was the best meal we had anywhere. From the starters right through to dessert was absolutely amazing! The flavor combinations in each dish just left us wanting more, yet also wondering where the journey would take us next. Some of the items we had: salmon pate with taro chips, pork belly, he'e (a risotto dish), scallops, ika ink doppio ravioli, coconut flan, citrus cake. We hadn't planned to dine at Ama Ama, but when we realized how many Rewards points we had and we were nearing the end of our time at Aulani, we decided to see what dining options were available. We checked with concierge and they were able to get us a table for that same night. Best decision we made the entire trip! It was nicely paced course and the server explained everything beautifully. They really tried to incorporate a lot of local Hawaiian ingredients to each dish. I also had the most amazing cocktail- Ube old fashioned. A strong old fashioned that slowly transformed with the melting of the Ube flavored ice. My mom and I stopped by for last birthday dinner in Hawaii. The staff manning the receiption booth were friendly, professional and actually gave us a nice center view of the ocean. The waiter and waitstaff were great top up until the entree was served. Important details such as requests for hot water refill on the tea and unbussed empty dishes made the dinner frustrating considering we orderd over $360 worth of food. We also noticed other tables that weren't Asian were being serviced better than us. Initially, my mom and I thought it was because we weren't actual Disney hotel guests yet the two Japanese families next to us were given similar treatment. In fact, when it came time for the Japanese couple next to us to pay, the female blonde waitstaff assumed they were not Disney hotel guests by asking if they were going to pay by Apple Pay when they were referring to charging to the room. To top it all off, when the desserts came, I was only given my prefix dessert instead of the Mickey Mouse birthday dessert with a candle. My mom and I are from Los Angeles where no matter which part of the Disney restaurants we go to, whether inside or outside in Downtown Disney, on special occasions we are given a complimentary Mickey Mouse dessert. Mind you I would have been okay if they turned the prefixed dessert into a birthday kind but all they did was put a "Congratulations" chocolate on it without even a candle and some whip cream in the shape of Mickey's ears. When we asked the server about it, he only went to get a candle, stuck it in the prefix dessert flan, lit it and walked away. No Happy Birthday song or offer to take a picture of me with it. Instead, my mom and I had to awkwardly pretend we were okay with what the server did and did our own little Happy Birthday chant. When it came time to the check, we did see the familiar receipt line saying they recognized my Birthday and supposedly gave me my complimentary Mickey Mouse birthday dessert. When we asked the waiter about this, he claimed it was just a thing they added to recognize they gave me "compliments" for my birthday and giving me the token free Disney birthday pin. Towards the end, the manager did come by and ensure my mom and I eventually got one of our repeated orders which was the tea refill and a pitcher of coffee. I wish we had mentioned to her our dissatisfaction with the waitstaff but my mom and I kept it to ourselves in hopes our waiter would come through at the end. Overall, the host staff and the manager were the only best parts of our Birthday dinner experience. For over $360 worth (plus tip comes out to $425) at Disney, my mom and I certainly did not get the Disney experience we usually get at all other Disney parks and resorts. read more

Wonderful, friendly and attentive service. The ambiance is peaceful with great views of the sunset (at the time we went). The food was beautifully presented and quite delicious. All the food was at their appropriate temperatures. Wish we could have stayed longer - enjoyable dining experience. Our group of 10 were swerved all at once. The house bread is warm and delicious. There are not photos because we ate them before taking photos. The staff will bring more bread - just ask. read more
