It's been a good decade or so since I've been to this restaurant. The dishes that still stand out in my mind when I think of MonkeyPod are always the pumpkin ravioli and truffle pizza. I made a reservation on my opentable app to come back here again to see if the food was still good. I highly recommend making reservations here at least 1-week out because it fills up quick. When I arrived here there was a long check-in line you need to stand in to either put your name down for a table or confirm your reservation and show proof of vaccination and contract tracing. The check-in process was a bit confusing for me at first. I think there should have been two lines- one for reservation check-ins and one for walk-ins. I was worried because the check-in took so long my reservation spot would be voided due to late timing and they don't seat you until your party is present. We only had to wait 5 mins for a table to get cleaned off so the wait wasn't too bad (plus we would've missed happy hour). They seated us at a table outside which was nice, however instead of annoying pigeons they have wild chickens flying up on the umbrella's and scrounging around near the tables. I recommend a table closer in or in their upstairs space if those things bother you. Our server was nice, very responsive at getting our orders and drinks to us, and the food didn't take long coming out at all. I wasnt blown away by the food. The poke tacos were pretty tasteless, and the fish tacos my date had lacked flavor. The truffle french fries and the pumpkin ravioli and cocktails were the only items i would reorder again. Overall, it seems like I haven't missed out on much since the last time I dined here. I'd much rather try a restaurant at one of the nearby resorts vs this one if you're coming with a date to enjoy the ambiance and Ko'olina beach sunset. The parking in the closest lot is 3hrs max in designated stalls and is busy during prime dinner hours. Ordered takeout and wasn't pleased. Ordered a pizza that had pork and pineapple. I can't remember the name but would avoid this if you can. Go for the chicken wings if you're looking for wings. The pizza itself was anything but good. If they served ranch dressing, or some kind spicy hot sauce, the flavor could be masked but they don't so I was left with something gross. Pineapple and what looked like pulled pork was what I had. This place felt like something tourists go to when they're at a timeshare which I was. So it does the trick when you want food nearby at one of the timeshares. With hardly any offerings you're stuck with this food option. Back again. We had our last dinner here and so pleased we came. I started with the Na Ka 'Oli as a drink and loved it as I found it refreshing. Our appetizers where Kiai Shrimp & Hamakua Mushroom Potstickers and we all loved it especially the spicy sauce and Garlic Truffles Oil Fries. Our entrees were tasty. Can't go wrong with the Big Island Cheeseburger for those that stay simple as it melts in your mouth. The Fish and Lobster Pasta had a kick to and was delicious. I opted for the Macadamia Nut Crusted Fish and found it fantastic but I wished it had more sauce. If anything try their beers as they have a wonderful selection. Wow can't say I didn't miss eating here. It was nice chill luncheon with my husband before I head to work. Atmosphere is still the same and I can honestly say that the hostesses and our server Chandel was amazing and didn't come as fake. They were so pleasant with a welcoming ohana like feel. Always nice to be treated that way especially being locals. Food was delicious as always and I tried something new their salad rather than my normal Bulgogi Tacos and it was the bomb digity. Oh my goodness. My friends told me to try the mai tai when I was on Oahu, so it was part of my to do list... and I got to check it off as completed. The Monkeypod Mai Tai is very interesting. There is lilikoi froth on the top and it is adorned with a slice of pineapple,soooo cute! This is served in a short glass and honestly it was pretty potent. We ordered the truffle fries, the kalua pig pesto pizza and a margarita pizza to share. Great serving sizes and flavors that compliment each other well. The fries are served with a mustard aioli and housemade catsup.... both were good but I preferred the aioli as the flavor was bold and delicious. The kalua pig pizza had pesto sauce, cheese and was topped off with slices of jalapeño. This gave each slice a pop in flavor and left me ordering another drink. Well played Monkeypod, well played. The margarita pizza was topped with fresh tomatoes, basil and honestly could have used a touch more cheese. Some of the slices were missing cheese and were just bread with sauce, basil and tomatoes. Don't get me wrong, we ate it, but it would have been great with more cheese. The bill was not too bad and I honestly enjoyed the entertainment more than anything. We were right up front and felt as if we were being serenaded by an Angel with a guitar and beard. Izak was awesome! This will definitely be on our to do list the next time on Oahu. read more

This place is okay. I think I was expecting more out of it. I felt it was a bit overpiriced for what it was. We started with the House Fries which were decent. My husband had the Ahi Tuna which he said was okay. My son had the lobster ravioli which he loved. My daughter had the kid pizzas which she said tasted like her least favorite pizza joint and I had bulgogi tacos. The tacos where good but covered in aoili which was a bit too much sauce. Okay, the photos I took are bad, and it matches the quality of the pizza. The quality of a pizza depends on its crust...Ask any pizzaiolo. I'm sorry but Monkeypod should take pizza off their menu. Their crust was under done and was lacking in quality. Of course, it's better than Little Cesar's. So I think I've made it clear, don't order the pizza. Order the pumpkin ravioli, it's was AMAZING! I've been here several times, mostly recently on Saturday evening. My husband and I had a great dinner. I made reservations via OpenTable for 6:45. Seated around 7pm, so not too far off. I ordered the Riesling ($10) and bulgogi tacos (18.95) with the cornbread ($5.95) to share with my husband. A Chardonnay was brought to my table. After I told the waitress about the mix up she immediately brought me a new (and correct) glass of Riesling. I would definitely recommend ordering a side to share if ordering the tacos. The tacos are just not quite enough if you are really hungry. We were seated directly in front of the love music (started at 8pm). PROs: After eating here at least 10 times over the past year and a half I've never been disappointed. This place will always give you five star service. Considering this is Ko Olina the prices are very reasonable. 50% off champagne for all the mimosas on Sunday. Island cheeseburger and garlic truffle fries is always a good choice. Any of the brunch egg Benedict items is a good choice. I've also had the pulled pork sandwich and it's fantastic. The fresh fish and chips are always a great choice and come out very hot and fresh. Portions on most food here are generous as well. The staff is always very polite and knowledgeable of the menu. I am here whenever I visit my parents because it is next door to their property. The happy hour is nice and the live music is entertaining. The music can get quite loud so don't think about taking a quiet date here. The only negative is the menu does not change that often. For tourists, the menu is relatively limited compared to popular places such as Cheesecake Factory. Usually they have at least one sea and one land special. Prices for entrees range from 22-32 USD so typical price for a restaurant in a resort. I have been coming here for years and have found the portions to be slightly smaller than when they first opened. Which is fine with me, just not for the price to portion ratio I guess. Here are my regular choices: Righteous Path smoothie: not too sweet and nice to get a dose of veggies among all the seafood I eat during my visits. Ahi tacos: crispy wonton shell and not of wasabi mayo compliments the fresh ahi tuna. Poke sampler: all fresh. For over 20 USD I wish the servings were bigger. Lobster ravioli: pasta is not mushy at all but I cannot really taste too much lobster. Deviled eggs: classic dish is still good here. Mahi Mahi entree: sometimes it comes out dry, sometimes they make it perfect. Ahi tuna entree: this dish is more consistent in quality. When I ask for it to be rare, the tuna comes out correctly. I appreciate that Brussels sprouts can sub the mashed potatoes. Cornbread: grilled yet not too dry. Saimin: super filling. Soft noodles and don't be afraid to pick up that big bowl to slurp up every last bit of delicious broth! Cream pie: three people can share this dessert as it is a big serving! For the food, we got the fish tacos, fish and chips, wings and strawberry pie. The fish and chips was very good good. The fish was coated in the perfect amount of batter. I was not very impressed with my fish tacos. They were just average. The wings were also just okay, but they did come with a great sauce to dip them in. Last, the strawberry pie was AMAZING. I've been here multiple times but this review is on my most recent visit. My friend and I went before our golf lessons at Ko Olina. We ordered the Hamakua Wild Mushrooms & Truffle Oil, Pumpkin Patch Ravioli, and Garlic Truffle Oil Fries. I've tried all of these before and again they didn't disappoint. Service was great. The only thing I didn't like was that there was so many flies outside! I felt like they were crawling all over my legs. I recommend sitting inside. We finished eating there in less than an hour. This place is okay, not a big fan. Got a GC to go here so checked it out. I hadn't been here in like 5 years so why not give it another shot. First off we missed their short 1.5 hour long happy hour that ends at 5, and got seating pretty quickly about 15 min. Let me tell you when I say seating sucks! It's outdoor seating, that has tons of nats and flys, so much so they bring a small table top fan when they bring the food. The umbrellas are all connected to try to create a roof top which I would guess works great between 10-2 when the sun is above you but at 530 when the sun is setting every single table gets a face full of sun that isn't enjoyable. The food was good just not for the prices, and I get this is a tourist trap for all those people staying at ko Olina, but they charging fine dining prices for slightly above chain restaurants quality. $28 for 3 poke tacos is crazy! You know it's nothing fancy when 2 of the 3 sauces we got for our apps are just out of a jar. I would definitely not recommend this place nor go back read more
