He is personable, polite, worked at a good clip, answered all my questions! He appreciated that I am a senior citizen with tech. challenges and was happy to repeat answers to my questions. The ISP was initially amazing-- fast speeds for low costs but it was too good to be true. If your internet goes down after their operating hour of 6 o'clock you are out of luck. Their voice mail line and inbox are useless. Your messages will not be replied to and if you do get in touch with a support technician, promises of solutions will be generously given out but reneged when progress is asked for later. If you're like me who lost internet before the weekend...well you're just going to have to wait until business opens back up and wait for the next available day to see a technician. Overall: 5/5 - when things run well. 0/5 - if/when things go wrong. read more

No one works on the weekends. Internet was down from Friday night until Monday morning and still was down. Some people use the internet as a replacement for cable tv and for work. That is unacceptable for it to be down this long without a resolution. Would not recommend getting. read more

The internet service from MonkeyBrains is not reliable enough. It goes down too often to be used as your main ISP. If they would update the customers and work through the night to fix things, I'd definitely be more sympathetic to outages. But considering that the internet does go down, timelines are never given, and their workers don't work through the night to fix things, I have to advise against this ISP. The last outage had us without internet for 2 days followed by a working day and another down day, and the current outage is going on 2 hours+ with no ETAs or updates. I just can't recommend anyone use this service. read more

if you can get their fiber internet service, you should not get anything else. free install, and the team there knows everything, I swear, there is to know abt internet service. Just switched to Monkeybrains and so far the speed has been averaging 150mbps download / 100mbps upload with the Eero Pro router. Twice as fast as Comcast (with a huge jump in upload speed) for half the price in my building. Looking forward to using this going forward! Customer support was kind and the technician who helped us, Neil Sigua, was very professional and was in and out faster than I expected. These guys are awesome! I'm in Lower Nob Hill and I get a reliable 300-400 Mbps both up and down (they guarantee 100). I was initially worried about reliability - I'm working at home now and internet flakiness would be a major dealbreaker - but they've been rock solid (save for a ~30 min PG&E-caused outage that they communicated to me very proactively). And it's 35 bucks a month, with no fees or other sneaky bullshit! I put up with Comcast and their deceptive, purposely confusing billing for years before finally getting fed up enough to dump them, and now I feel stupid for not switching sooner. Seriously folks, just do it. Monkeybrains is the real deal: fast, cheap, honest, reliable, and run by real, live humans who actually live in SF. read more

Marius was super friendly and got me right in less than thirty minutes! Now I'm getting +700MBps on Fast/Speedtest down and up which is 15x faster than what I was getting through AT&T via Sonic. Cannot recommend this ISP enough -- the only thing I regret is not switching over earlier. read more

I heard good things about MonkeyBrains, especially among the tech crowd in SF, but the internet service is terrible. Downloads speeds in the single digits, especially during peak times like in the evenings. And complete outages seem fairly common. At best I can occasionally have video calls for work without issues, but totally undependable. The customer service is great, they are very friendly. But their product basically doesn't work. I'm definitely having buyer's remorse over this one. Hoping that things get better but no longer optimistic at this point. Regrettably I must consider going back to cable or another provider out of necessity. read more

Miguel and Adam went on the roof during the latest Pineapple Express, no small feat and moved the antenna, repointed it to a better faster connection. Improved my download speed to 100mbs, was 30-40. I've been a Monkeybrains customer for a few years now, and I continue to be quite pleased w/their service. Last evening I noticed that I didn't have internet signal, so I checked the outage map to see if by chance my area was effected (which it was not). Next I tried to troubleshoot on my own (according to Monkeybrain's clear and concise tech help instructions which also includes a video if their written instructions aren't making sense) ... when that didn't help, I sent a written customer service request via my phone. I received an email shortly after I sent my request which included a phone number to call, and I was able to talk w/someone right away (which was a surprise since it was after business hours). I spoke w/someone for a short while and we both determined that it would be best to setup a service call w/a technician the following day. To my relief, someone was available to arrive the very next morning. Neil Sigua was the ever so helpful technician (a.k.a. Broadband Jedi) that arrived this morning (after first calling me before my appt. to let me know exactly when he would arrive). When he arrived, he determined that something was awry in a timely manner, fixed the issue, and even replaced my modem with an updated model so I now have faster internet! He was patient while I asked all of my questions and had helpful responses. As he was leaving, he also let me know that he had another service call in the building and would be available if any other questions arose, and that I should contact him via his phone number. The first step in cutting the Comcast cord was a new ISP. My building just brought in Monkeybrains, so I gave them a try. What a great experience! First, the installation was fast, friendly, and efficient - Anthony did a great job. But the real value came in the support afterwards as I tried to get things to work. They helped with the Monkeybrains part (the modem), as I would expect them to. They really came through with the router problems I had getting my Eero set up. Amazon sold me a refurbished 3-pack of Eeros as "new," and didn't even bother to do a factory reset on them. So we got through that. Then I couldn't get Alexa to connect to the modem - turned out it wanted to connect to the Eero (router) not the Monkeybrains (modem), and even though that's outside of Monkeybrains area, they tracked down the answer for me and hung in all the way. Neil and Vlad were so friendly and helpful! They gave me plenty of updates on their ETA, let me know what I needed to do to prepare for my arrival, and did a great job setting up all of the cabling. Also the speeds are crazy fast- I came from Sonic and it's like night and day.
