Our first time here and I'm impressed. It's a cool old building and the staff was friendly and helpful. The coffee and cafe mocha were very good. Nice place to hang out!

Wow this place was warm cozy and SUPER friendly. I went there to work for a few hours and it was the perfect spot. There were a good selection of classic drinks and a seasonal menu as well! The entire place is decorated with huge sacks of coffee to roast and various monkey themed decor, on brand. The place is very connected to the community and have a window hutch area with various brochures and flyers for things to do around town and in county. Definitely a good spot to grab some Java or buy a bag of beans to brew at home!

A lot of people would say that 60 miles is too far to drive for a cup of coffee. On the day that I went to visit Monkey Joe Roasting Co for the first time, I was in Newburgh NY, a little more than 30 miles south of Kingston, and was facing another impending age appropriate night. I thought about half a dozen local options and then I remembered a cup of coffee that I'd had a couple days before. It was, and I find it hard to even say this; perfect. I called the Gunk Haus, complimented them about my splendid cup of java and asked them where they sourced their beans.. They told me, I thanked them and I hit the road. The place is classic coffee shop chic. The vibe was mellow and friendly and the coffee was a just reward. A lot of people would say that 60 miles is too far to drive for a cup of coffee but I say that's just not true. Not if the coffee is at Monkey Joe Roasting Co. Life is short but places like this make it sweet as well.

Best coffee anywhere, by far. Not even close. Sit and get a french press and take some time off from being chased.

Such a wonderful surprise for me in Kingston. Everything is laid back and drinks ( hot and cold) were made to our requests.

Little options: no decaf, only one alternative milk choice. I opted for the mocha and I will say it was delicious. I ordered a small and was given a large cup but she explained she ran out of small cups so it's a small size in a large cup. Not an issue, but all of it together left an unpleasant taste. Mocha was yummy, but not sure it was tasty enough for me to return to this unwelcoming space.

I asked for a bowl and she very abruptly expressed that she was only doing a limited menu today, no bowls. She could make an egg and cheese sandwhich and it would be 10 minutes. I said I was willing to come back and ordered the sandwhich. As I stepped away, I watched the woman behind the counter go back to her phone. No wonder the place is always empty. There was NOTHING welcoming about the experience. If I wasn't so darn hungry, I would have said "forget it." The sandwhich itself was really good, and a great price (compared to the rest of uptown Kingston), which I appreciated. She thanked me for coming back for the sandwhich and that was that. Really too bad the place isn't more welcoming. They'd have more customers from nearby offices, I'm sure.

Their handmade drinks are quite good, and the coffee is well pulled. Strong without any bitterness. I haven't tried the food yet, but they sounded good so I'll have to go back. Collectively between myself, my boyfriend, and cousin we have tried every drink on the menu and every one of them hits the spot every time. We love the loyalty cards and make sure we always have ours in the car. This is my favorite coffee spot ever so far. I love the emphasis on local here.
