It came highly suggested by the host of the beach house, as well as all the great reviews we saw online. This not a quick sit, eat, and be on your way type of restaurant, it's a long standing, very popular spot, and even getting their early, we still had a about a 45 minute wait. But we were able to get drinks, and take them out to enjoy by the water while we waited for our table. Because of the heat, they even had a cooler by the front door with free bottled water for guests to enjoy while waiting. Once seated, the waitress was very attentive, checking on us regularly, keeping the drinks coming and getting out order entered, and out to us pretty quickly. Not being a big seafood eater, I decided to give their meatloaf a try. It was fantastic, as were the mash potatoes and green beans it was served with. For desert, we got smores, which they brought out a flames, along with graham crackers, Hershey bars, and marshmallows to make them at your table. Overall, a fun experience, tasty food, and great atmosphere. It's a bit on the pricey side, but I'd say that's expected for a quality restaurant in a beach town. It's not tourist trap pricey, but you get what you pay for, which in this case is good quality food, decent portions! I'd go back on another visit, and would recommend to others.

It's a fun little spot with indoor and outdoor seating right off the beach if that's the atmosphere you're looking for. The place itself has a great laid-back beach-bar vibe however the attitude behind the bar just didn't quite match it. The 3 star rating is primarily based on that fact. We took a weekday trip to the beach at the end of July and were pleasantly surprised to find Tacklebox Tavern open late on a Sunday night and it was karaoke night too! The bar was fairly busy for a Sunday, with a fun mix of locals and travelers and an age range that seemed to go from early 20s all the way into the 60s. The crowd was friendly, the drinks were cheap, and the atmosphere was exactly what we needed for a fun Sunday night at the beach! My biggest complaint was the service. The bartenders consistently seemed annoyed and irritated, and at times it felt like simply ordering a drink was an inconvenience to them. I completely understand that working behind a busy bar can be hectic, but the attitude was noticeable enough that it took away from an otherwise really enjoyable experience and was mentioned by multiple patrons. A little more friendliness behind the bar would have made this place a home run for us.

In my…read moreexperience, finding good seafood restaurants in and around Atlantic Beach (even including Morehead City - where there are a dwindling few) can be surprisingly difficult, especially compared to the pelagic bounty of most coastal Carolina towns. Bahia has probably the best food I've had from any of the current crop of Atlantic Beach places. Every dish I've tried so far has been excellent. One in particular needs to be highlighted. The crab dip is possibly the best I've ever eaten, anywhere. You need to try it. Pro tip: Be prepared for the generous amount of butter and oil in and on the food -- it adds to the richness and is definitely a good thing, but you'll want to be careful if you're planning on performing microsurgery or wiping your eyeglasses. There is unobtrusive but good quality live music, which is always a plus (and seems more well-considered than the solo guitar dudes repeatedly playing "Free Fallin" at the neighboring restaurants and bars). The air conditioning indoors does a heroic job of keeping the restaurant a relatively nice temperature, as well.

We we drove past this location we pulled in to give it a try and see if it lived up to the hype. But for the most part we were disapointed. I often say this about touristy businesses, sometimes they start out great, locals become fans and and they build a reputation. Then they get greedy, lazy, and stop improving. Things wear out, the dining room gets old and worn down, the food becomes just ok, but the prices shoot ay up. I think some places come to think their tourist customers will never be back so they can over charge and under serve. And they rely on that plus locals who come out of habit and go on for years that way. Yes the trees outside are cool. But the food was just mediocre and I left feeling sick to my stomach. We like to take home leftovers but nothing was good enough to bother with. I'm a fan of red snapper and have had it prepared many ways and rarely been disappointed. With Snapperz in the name you'd think they'd get it right. But this was a complete fail. My expensive piece of fish was hard, over cooked and tasteless. I also ordered the clam chowder, the flavor was good enough and the clams seemed to be fresh. However it was thin and watery like they were trying to stretch their dollars. It was not creamy it was simply watery and warm, not even hot. Come on Snapperz, you must have been great once, I'm sure you can get back to that if you put in the effort and reignite your passion for seeing great food to people who want to love you.
