Concept is the same, ingredients and selections are the same as other places. I always recommend at least 8 scoops of sauce if you want flavour from your creation. Service is good here, they check to make sure your drinks are filled and ask if the food was cooked okay. Good place for some healthier dining, especially if your group can't decide what to eat that night. read more

I am giving them 4 stars because the waiter and lady cook were very nice and helpful. But my noodle bowl thinga-michigy dish wasn't that flavorful. I think I should have dumped half of the sweet and sour sauce on it. I don't think I put enough sauce in it. I love the concept of how you can pick your own ingredients to give to the cook to stir-fry. I chose some seafood items and veggies and lots of noodles. My 2 free sides were rice and egg. It was eatable. I asked for some salt and it made my dish more pleasant to my tastebuds. Overall it was food that did a good job of feeding me. read more

I was excited to try Mongos Grill out as my boss at the time used to work there - needless to say I was very disappointed. The plates and cutlery was dirty, and all of it was cheap ceramic or plastic, if you can't wash your plates why have them? The orientation & wait your turn idea of the different stations where you add on your veggies protein & sauces reminded me of my time in boot camp on a military base - not a classy joint. All the vegetables and meat are frozen when you put them on, so there is no quality. When I went to the sauce station all the sauces were watered down and tasted nothing like how they were labeled. When you get to the grill you must also wait your turn and stand in line like a soup kitchen while the staff yell at the top of their lungs the different options people select for their frozen food to be cooked. The grill they use is disgusting - the nastiest Mongolian grill I've ever seen, maybe I was there during rush hour - but it was so filthy - no other Mongolian grill I've ever seen looked like that. Needless to say my food tasted nasty, neither me or my boss could finish our meals, my boss said that when he worked there the food was better. The only thing they got right was the beer I ordered which was a brand name beer you can purchase in a store. The waiter was friendly, but other than taking orders for our drinks was totally useless in helping us enjoy the restaurant. I ma I was very disappointed and it was one of the worst restaurant experiences of my life - I do not recommend this restaurant. I was on a business trip in Winnipeg and decided to check this place out as it was close to my hotel. Walked in and hostess/waitress asked if I've ever been there before. I said no and she gave me all the details about their restaurant! They have two price options for dinner, 1. One stir-fry with salad bar, or 2. Unlimited stir-fry with salad bar. Tons of veggies and proteins for you to choose from. When you have selected what your want in your stir-fry, you bring it over to the grill where there are a bunch of cooks working. They are all very enthusiastic and energetic! My server was great too! Manager came by my table at one point to set how I was doing since it was my first time there! Nice touch!? At least every second trip to Winnipeg (we live in River Hills, the original gateway to the Whiteshell) we stop at Mongos, either Regent location or Ellice Avenue. I almost died laughing at David B.'s review, I gather he does not realize that Mongos has been around since 2004! The staff are always very helpful and it's entertaining to watch the cooks! The food is great, when you have restrictive diets it is so easy to take what you can eat and no need to ask what is in the plate you are served! It's A great concept that obviously works! read more

Times have been tough in 2020 due to the CoVid outbreak. But Mongo's has done such an amazing job with their take out options. I've ordered a few times in the last few months now and never once have I been disappointed. All my dozen times have been absolutely amazing. Yes I miss the dine in, yes I miss the all you can eat option. But the take out is still an amazing option, which I will continue to do. The staff are amazing there, very polite and friendly. Another middle-brow concept restaurant from Corporate Amerika. I don't expect this one will last. First of all, you need an explanation about how the restaurant concept works. My eyes glazed over as the waiter went into his spiel. Then you find you have to do all the work, choosing from a vast array of foods, the permutations and combinations of which are exhausting. It's like a salad bar gone mad. You stuff everything on offer all into a small plastic bowl, add sauces and toppings, then give the whole mess to a cook who cooks it Ichiban-style and sticks it back into your bowl, which you carry to your table. Not a lot of food in the end - mostly fried salad - not a lot of service, and a bill (without a drink) for $15. Has anyone alerted the Mongolians as to what's being done with their food? read more
