So sad!
Should have believed the previous reviews however, I was told it is under new management when I arrived so that would explain why the quality is down. Greeted at the door and our waitress was lovely but it stops there.
Quality of the salad bar and the grill bar were strange indeed. There was a poor selection of some strange foods that do not belong on a "Mongolian Grill. Example: chick peas, spiral pasta, and pepperoni. Salad ingredients looked old and dated with the potato salad and the macaroni salad looked like products that came from No Frills.
I found it strange that the grill bar and the salad bar each had huge bowls of sliced red onion and sliced white onion - probably a 10 pound bag of onions, wah!
Two different soups to choose from vegetable and the other was with some kind of pasta?? Decided not to try as they looked very old and grey and yet we were there at twelve noon. The cottage cheese on the salad bar for some reason was delicious, firm and not watery. Hard to make a salad out of what was provided. While eating our salad we were provided with a bowl of steamed rice and a container of tortillas (5) in the container. They must have been Mongolian tortillas, lol. What do tortillas have to do with Mongolian food?
The chicken, beef and pork were all stuck together (what a mess) This owner should visit the grill in Don Mills and see the quality and quantity provided. The meat is in small rolls and still slightly frozen but looked impressive at Don Mills.
Along with the meat selection I choose dried out noodles and asked for more shrimp as the container was empty. OH NO, the chef said, shrimp is only for the dinner hour, Wah! Every buffet restaurant in the 'free world' serves shrimp, it's a natural and normal item to be expected on any grill lunch and dinner, come on!
So, my grill consisted of noodles chicken, green pepper, onion, garlic and chick peas just because there was nothing else to add.
The grill masters are tattooed kids with backward baseball hats but polite. By the time the banging on the grill stopped it was a chopped up mush. Every buffet in the free world these days also has a dessert bar --- oh no --- $8.00 for cheese cake. Overall, my friend and I did not have a very enjoyable lunch. Only about 20 people in the restaurant at the time so maybe others are paying attention to the previous reviews. Sorry, I will not return until I see some good reviews. Oh, yeah, and I drove from Scarborough to visit this grill. Live and Learn, will have to go back to Don Mills real soon. read more
