This was our first ayce hotpot meal of the day since it was a friend's birthday and we were maxing out the birthday freebees. Bring 4 people to fill up the table and the birthday person eats free. With more of a cafeteria vibe, Happy Lamb is kind of famous for that birthday offer so it was an obvious choice. Brightly lit, and plenty of room to get our and mosey around looking at the different options for the hot pot, I noticed plenty of western style food as well like chicken wings, so it would be ideal for friend, family or tourists alike where you need to please everyone. They have the requisite ice cream at the end of the meal, so hats off to Happy Lamb, turning into a Toronto legend one hot pot at a time.
Genuinely one of my favourite restaurants. The thing that makes it stand out is their approach to AYCE. You help yourself from the wall of ingredients. As much of whatever you want.
Most chinatown places to eat are small, dingy and gross but this one was large, airy, spacious and the booths were spacious and had comfortable seating. But there were flies buzzing around which dinged my review a bit. I got the hot and sour soup base and it was delicious. I like the concept of self serve, they bring out sliced beef and lamb for you but otherwise you can pick and choose however much you want. They even had fried chicken and it was really good! I also appreciate the drink station which not a lot of buffets offer and at the end I got a taro soft serve. Although the lunch buffet is advertised as $21.99 I found after tax and tip I paid $30 but it's worth it for the variety and quality and all you can eat.
All the food that we got was delicious! There was tons of it and a lot of great variety. Their sauce bar also had everything you could possibly want to make the most perfect sauce. The people who served us were very efficient and things came out quickly. the only part that I didn't love was when you walked in there was a bit of a scent that wasn't the most appetizing. However, after being there for certain amount of time I didn't notice it anymore so perhaps it went away. I would 100% go back again and was delighted to see closer to when we are leaving that they are robots that deliver some of the food also. The robots are so cute they play a little song and they have these little cat faces.
I went there on my birthday and it's free for the basic all you can eat. No need to bring anyone or register in advance. Just show your ID when you pay. There are some cooked mongolian dishes but other than that it's the usual hotpot food you can get there. Good service.
Taste: 4.5/5 Good variety of broths and ingredients. The broths we had: mala spicy and tomato. Both were pretty flavourful. Good price. Vibe: 3.5/5 The resto can accommodate about 50 people. For large groups (10 or more) you can reserve a private room. (Better book 1 week ahead.) Service: 4/5 Mostly self-served but the servers were nice.
Service was nice! This unlike other places you get the ingredients yourself which I liked since it's faster that way, they also had cooked food and a sauce table. Everything was pretty decent, only complaint is that it was kinda hot in there and with the hot pot we were sweating
This is def a hole in the wall vibe. Their chopstick wrapper says sauces are not needed for this style of hotpot and I thought, wow what an ego. AND THEY WERE RIGHT. Idk what they do to the meat or broth but I did not need to use any sauce for the meat. I had lamb, lamb balls, fish balls, mussels, and broccoli. THE LAMB WAS SO GOOD :') It absorbed the mild non spicy broth that I had and it perfectly complemented the lamb. It was basically a mushroom and goji berry brother. I love this place Also they have a BOGO 50% off so your second guest comes for half price. BEAUTIFUL. I also really love their unlimited beverage selection: water, plum soup, and soy milk. I love their soy milk so much.
Pretty good. Quite standard hotpot place I would say. You get what you pay for and the quality of the food isn't that bad. I will say though that of all the little sheep Mongolian locations I've visited, I've enjoyed this place the least. Some random points: * The bench chairs are bolted to the ground and are so far from the table - you end up sitting on the VERY edge of your seat while eating - very uncomfortable. Definitely ask to sit at a table with chairs. * The juice and milk are free and you can serve yourself however much you want. * There's a bunch of other free food items by the dipping sauce station you can partake in - good for if you're REALLY hungry while waiting for your order.. Just don't fill yourself up too much. * The service is quite poor and the food always takes forever to come everytime I'm here. Not all the servers seem to understand basic requests for additional napkins or chopsticks, and will also take a long time to fulfill ad hoc requests. * Overall sanitary environment seems a little questionable.
Happy lamb hot pot is a great place to go especially during these colder months! A robot comes and delivers your food which I found really cool! The lamb and beef melts in your mouth after cooking and the side dishes are very delicious as well! We got a half spicy and have mild broth which is great if you want to taste both! I must warn you the spicy broth is VERY SPICY!! I also liked how they had a little pamphlet of cooking time instructions for meat and other dishes as well in case you get confused! I found it quite helpful! I really enjoyed the food and it's well worth the price! I left super super full, could not eat breakfast the following morning! Haha

Happy Lamb is my favourite hot pot in Toronto. I'm fairly basic and always get their classic broth, but it is my favourite base broth so far. I love the buffet-style arrangement so that you can have as much or as little of each item as you want, rather than having to lock in a fixed amount (which works better in a group, less so as a couple). The staff are very friendly and quick. I like that you can choose a single pot for a table of four, two pots, and even individual pots for each person. I don't know what their sorcery is, but the mini fountain drink machine is the greatest ever. I also love whoever came up with the idea of giving happy lamb-themed fake money as loyalty vouchers for a small discount on your next visit. They are so cute. Now for some criticism. Their soft serve ice cream is not very good. I would skip it. I'm not sold on the deluxe dinner menu. I think the regular/classic dinner is perfectly adequate for the main proteins. read more
Have been to the Scarborough location and decided to try their downtown spot. The space is spacious and very well kept, quiet and clean. The style is similar to their Scarborough location, self-serve buffet/ayce hot pot, but felt like there was less selection available. The hot prepared appetizers (eg chicken wings, korean pork bone, curry fish balls), were unfortunately cold and may have been placed out for a bit and wasn't kept warm in the pot. The seafood, meat and vegetables selection also felt like there was less variety compared to their Scarborough branch. The soup base was comparable but otherwise it was a simple meal and if you're looking for a basic hot pot option in downtown Toronto, it's passable. There was also taro sago dessert, but the milk in the dessert was starting to curdle and not as smooth as typically expected, so I opted for the jelly which was good. Service was good, and you pay at the end at the cash desk which is pretty standard. read more
On a week night not busy but enough for inventory to stay fresh. We got the premium package and refills 2-3 times of some items. I would eventually come back to this location but there are a number of hot places to try. I will cycle back one day. read more

Great food. A bit expensive but great food great attention by the manager. They give you 3 round to order anything you want on the menu. There is a robot that comes to you every time you with the plates you order which is pretty cute. Any gluten free person can eat as my husband is gluten free he was able to eat everything on the menu. Meats are not marinated and the broth was safe . The one they recommend is the clear broth it's made with herbal. Rice noodle is available. Recommended for gluten free or non. Will go back again. Ohh! At the end they give ice cream included which is good. read more
There's an abundance of hot pot restaurants in Chinatown Toronto but I'm a big fan of the Little Sheep chain. This location is basically AYCE because you can go through 3 rounds of food selections and there are other premium selections that are available at an additional cost. Their broth choices are milky (bone marrow broth) and spicy but you can also do half and half, AKA yin yang style. Beware of the peppercorns in the spicy broth because it's more of the numbing spice feeling! The meat is good quality and the portions are generous. They also have appetizers (ranging from cold noodles, seasoned veggies, etc.) that you can pile up on while you wait for your food to cook. They also have a self-serve create your own sauce bar and offer dessert! Service was also friendly and we were checked up on frequently. read more
Little Sheep Mongolian Hot Pot is a pretty interesting restaurant that offers almost all you can eat. I said almost because it allows you to go through 3 rounds of food selections for your hot pot. And for dessert, it's only 1 round. Mind you, each plate of meat and vegetables contains a generous portion to be had. There were lots of food to choose from - seafood, lamb, beef etc, and lots of different veggies. Also there was a choice of spicy or non spicy soup base. I had the non spicy soup base, and it was nice. The service was good. The staff were friendly and helpful. They were pretty good about clearing up the empty plates that piled up. Price was pretty high per person at about $30-ish. Best to get a groupon. read more
It's been well over a year since I came here for hotpot but i think this will always be my go-to spot!! The last time i was here they were still called Little Sheep Mongolian but I guess they've changed owners or rebranded. My friend and i got the non-spicy broth which has a lot of chinese dried herbs in it so its just slightly bitter (definitely an acquired taste) and very salty. Im a fan of the broth! The hot pot ingredients are always fresh, im impressed with their fish/meat balls & dumplings they taste like they are freshly made and definitely different from the frozen ones you buy at the supermarket. read more

I've had hot pot before, thinking there's a Mongolian twist. It's just the soup base and a couple different dishes, but it's extra. To start, there's the All-You-Can-Eat price ($21.99), but then you have to add more for the soup base ($4). There's boiling water too, but this isn't suggested. Anyway, there's a choice of your standard meats (regular/garlic chicken, beef and lamb), vegetables (lettuce, mushrooms, tofu, seaweed), noodles and wontons. For the dinner menu, there's a larger variety of seafood items (fish, squid, mussels, shrimp, meatballs). The homemade pork/beef/fish/shrimp/lamb meatballs are a must try! There's also a buffet table with drinks (soy milk and prune juice [eww]), as well as make your sauce ... and random food (spring rolls, canned clementines). Overall, it's a great experience. Servers were attentive and friendly, but their English wasn't the best. read more
Fantastic hotpot to be found here; I've been once and I'm hooked already! I was told by my buddy, a native of China and hotpot connoisseur, that this is the best location of Little Sheep Mongolian hotpot in the GTA. At this location, the clear hotpot broth comes with a wide variety of traditional Chinese herbs that apparently are not offered at other locations. If this is incorrect, please let me know. The clear broth is perfect, at once flavourful yet light. It envelopes any type of topping well, from potato noodles to meat to veggies to tofu, and imparts a flavour that's so good, you (gasp!) may not even need dipping sauce. Ingredients are aplenty and I wanted for nothing. I don't think they offer my favourite hotpot ingredient, fried fish tofu, but I honestly didn't even miss it because they have something for everyone. We ordered as much sliced lamb and beef as we wanted. For some reason we were limited to 3 rounds of veggie orders, but we ended up ordering all our veggies at once so it wasn't an issue. We drank copious amounts of plum juice to avoid becoming "yeet hay," but soy milk is also available. For dessert, you can order several tiny bowls of red bean or green tea ice cream, or try a fried mantou bun. For a ~$15 all you can eat lunch, you really cannot go wrong with this place. read more
I came as a party of 5 on a weekday, and chose the lunch menu with more limited options. Unlike other hotpot places I have been to, they charge you on the soup base in addition to the lunch price. They mention that first thing, and if I wasn't starving, I would have left right there as that is steep. All of us got the non spicy soup base, which was basically herbal. In addition to the hot pot foods, they have a table of side dishes (fried mantou, kimchi, noodles), but I do not recommend them as they were not fresh and did not taste good. Out of all the foods, the handmade noodles were probably my favorite. The chicken was my least favorite, as they looked pink even when cooked for minutes and had a weird taste and texture to it. The workers were really chill, especially since there were not a lot of customers. I had a great time staying there for about 3 hours, even though the food was not the best. read more

The go-to AYCE hot pot. Quality of meat is fair for what you pay! They definitely hold your order off if they think you're over estimating which ends up being a good thing actually haha. The veggies are all super fresh and probably my favourite part of the meal. Highly recommend getting 2 different broths, a spicy one and a lighter one just so you can bounce back and forth between flavours. read more

This place is such a great place to go all out on some great hot pot. It also doesn't cost you over $40 for endless amounts of meat and seafood. I love the expansive menu and selection and loved the service. For the lamb or beef slices, we simply could tell them the amount of platters to bring out instead of writing the amount of "slices" which I think is more efficient. The vegetables and various fish/meat balls were very fresh and I absolutely loved their mini buffet bar and bottomless drinks station. This place is fully loaded for the price they charge ($23.99 pp for weekend dinner), which I'll take anyday! read more
This place becomes my favourite spot for hotpot AYCE. It has a nice atmosphere, quick service and the staffs are friendly. We're always here with group of 6 and we always have our own stove. I love their spicy broth. It's amazing! You can order 3 rounds for the ingredients you want to have with your hotpot (meat, vegetables, noodles,etc...) and they are all fresh. Like celebrity hotpot and other hotpot places, you can make your own dipping sauce. I always make mine with sesame sauce paste (look like peanut butter), soy sauce, a bit of garlic, a bit of vinerga, and chili oil. Some may not like the prune juice (they also have soy milk and water with lemon), but I think it goes well with the food. It won't make you feel full quick and feel heavy like soy milk. They didn't charge us for leftover but friendly remind us to not do it next time, which was very nice of them. Their ice cream is good!! I love green tea flavour. Unfortunately, you can only order ice cream for one time. So make sure you order more than as many as you want for that one time! (the waitress told me that) The price is reasonable for the amount of food and service. Hotpot is always my top choice during those cold winter days. read more

Seems like my Asian friend enjoys introducing me to different foods and how they are all cooked. So at this restaurant you are given a menu. They give you a booth based soup on a hot pot and place it on the flat heat surface. You choose what you want on the menu to put into the pot and they bring it to you in little plates. Potatoes slices/beef/turnip/spinach/noodles/mushroom, and many more. All your ingredients simmer and you get to enjoy a very tasty soup. read more

There was 6 of us in total and we were so impressed by this place. The staff were so helpful and friendly - never rude to us. The place was clean and the inside was sleak and modern. Food was stellar. We opted to get individual hot pots because the server advised it may be hard to reach if we had just 1 or 2. I appreciated the advice. We choose the all you can eat option and we were not disappointed with the selection. They had so many items to choose from - seafood, meats, vegetarian. Only disappointment was our stomach volumes. We were done after only 2 rounds (they give you 3 rounds). We'll have to come back again soon to try and redeem ourselves. read more

My absolute go-to for hotpot! The regular non-spicy broth is decent, not over-salted. The pork belly & lamb are highly recommended! Their soy milk is a little bit too sweet for me, but it's a must try. They have a variety of vegetables that really makes it a 5-star! Can't wait to be back on one of these winter days! read more
