This is a great idea, which I haven't seen anywhere else! Mixing 2 great things in one restaurant that go together like bacon and eggs. Chinese Hotpot and Korean BBQ. Since it was our second ayce hotpot of the day, it was a welcome option to have the BBQ ready for us to order options for. Instead of milling around looking at the options for hotpot, this restaurant serves everything at your table. Since there is not a lot of space around the tables to move, this makes a lot of sense. The atmosphere is more bar-like compared to say, Happy Lamb across the street which is more like a family restaurant by comparison. Think dark wood Izakaya style interior with dimmer lighting and yes, they serve beer! Unfortunately no cheap pitchers like some other Chinese bbq places have, but at least they have beer available in bottles which kept our spirits up during this birthday bash. read more

Terrific KBBQ and okay hotpot. I actually don't think you can get halal KBBQ/hotpot anywhere else in downtown Toronto, so obviously that is an advantage as well. They do have non-halal items as well (some pork dishes), but they will help you cross out what is non-halal if you tell them. The KBBQ and hotpot combo is $44.99 on weekends for dinner, which is comparable to other places in Toronto nowadays. My favourite items were the BBQ beef slices and the cooked chicken wings. There was only one grill for our table of 5, while there were 4 spots for hotpot. I probably would have liked it if there were more BBQ spots and less hotpots. We did wait around a lot for certain meats to cook, especially the chicken. What I did not like was the hotpot base I chose, which was just the spicy one. There was a weird aftertaste. A great place which is reasonably priced for a Korean grill/hotpot. $50 per head by the time you've paid taxes. We had a large party so we had a private room for 16. There is a sauce bar where you go and choose your dipping sauces- unlimited and mix and match. The quality of the meats and vegetables was great and there is a large variety to choose from. The service does need improving. Not everyone had been to such a restaurant where we cook ourselves, and so guidance is needed. Many in our group went ahead and ordered everything they wanted- which is not good. Items should be brought out in rounds, which was not clarified. So we ended up having more raw food than we could place on the table. We have piles of raw meat everywhere! We, the customer are responsible for this but one would think the server would use his common sense too! The other issue we had was we had ordered four hotpots. This was for everyone. During my first time, we went for their grill option. Waitress took 30-45 minutes to bring out the raw meats. Grill was never changed. It took another 30 minutes or so just to get the bill after we finished. One day I'll try their grill again! During my second visit, we went for the hot pot option. We ordered a variety of different meats, and veggies to add to the boiling broth. You can change the temperature of the hot plate as you cook the broth. There's plenty of broth for one person. Grill menu: we ordered a variety of meats and veggies to grill. One of our grill was certainly a-lot slower as we left the corn on for over 15 min and it was just lightly grilled. Halal meat but pork is served here too. Make a reservation before coming! It gets booked up, and the latest you should come is 1 hour before closing. If you come later, they'll tell you they can't serve you. It makes sense because it takes time to prep the food. It was my first Hot Pot experience. They were about five or six different options for the hot pot broth. They had lots of different meats and vegetables and Seafood. My favorites were the chicken dumplings and the spicy sirloin beef. The beef balls were a little bit hard. Not so enjoyable. I recommend the Sichuan and Tom Yum soup. Only drawback is that when we ordered two portions of things sometimes the only brought us one. The wait staff was hard to flag down and we had to keep requesting water refills and had to request napkins. They werent provided. In addition they added a generous tip of approx 17% to the bill without our consent and handed me the machine which was pure fuqqery. You have to walk up approximately 2 flights of stairs to get here and underground green p parking is about one block away at $2.50 per 30 mins. The seating for the two seater hot pot table is a bit tight. The washrooms were also tight and nasty and the womens had no lock on the door. read more

This time, when we arrived, the staff refused to seat us because we were 2 people. Finally, we settled on this little all-you-can-eat restaurant- I'd say it's pretty worth it! For 2 hot pot broths and the grill, it was around $47 per person (there were three of us). Usually, I was told it would be around $38, but apparently there was some "holiday fee"; not quite sure what the holiday was, though. Overall, the food was pretty decent for an all-you-can-eat! Usually, the food isn't so good- it's more about quantity than it is quality (I got food poisoning at my last all-you-can-eat grill night, so I wasn't ecstatic for tonight), but I think Mix 2 did a pretty good job with the quality of the meat and broths. After we left, I was left satisfied, and pretty much recommended this place to half of my family. I'd definitely come back here again! Bring some friends, too! Such a creative and revolutionary way to enjoy both Hotpot and Grill at the same time. I am super enthusiast of Hotpot, spicy flavor particularly. I tried very hotpot restaurant in Toronto and found Mix 2 has the most authentic Chinese Chongqing Spicy Hotpot. The taste has many richness and great structure. I recommend Tomato broth too (if you can not handle spicy). They have a HUGE variety of food and long list manu you can choose from (All You Can Eat). My friend loves barbecue and grill(how genius this restaurant is that they combine 2 things together). You can grill beef, chicken, seafood, vegetable (literally anything you want)... Their meat has good quality, shrimp size is really big, vegetable is very fresh. Oh dessert, my love! Fried bun with condensed milk and taro roll (must order everytime)! Sad to give another negative review but I had to do it. This place was so disappointing. The initial greeting was not welcoming- we initially called ahead of time because they said they don't take reservations for less than 3 people but walk ins are accepted. He did not tell us that the place was full. We get there and they tell us that they cannot seat us for this reason. I explained that we called earlier only for them to tell us that there is a table available with a two hour limit. Because we had drove far just to try this place because it is halal, we decided to stay. (Mind you there were many tables available). Please note that this place starts timing you from when you are seated, not from when you get your food. They brought out the first round of food nearly 30 minutes after I was seated. (This is raw so I didn't think it would take that long). Getting to the food itself- you can tell the meat was not marinated well because you really had to rely on the sauce for any flavour. The chicken had an after taste that you can tell it came from Chinatown and not Korean authentic bbq. I understand it may be the area but at least be upfront about the food style.also the portions were incredibly small!! The meat was also very chewy and mainly just the chicken and shrimp were the highlight. (Thus the two star). The vanilla ice cream was pretty basic-nothing extraordinary. My new favourite hotpot spot. If you bring cash, you get a 5% discount, which I love lol. In my opinion, the meat quality is superior to that of liuyishao, and the menu is quite extensive. The dipping sauce bar isn't bad either. They don't have a fruit bar like Liuyishao, but that's not too bad. My go-to broths are the spicy tomato and the Japanese sukiyaki. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves cultural food. You get the best of both world with KBBQ/HOT POT. Get the spicy soup broth (not the mala), that shit tastes amazing you can drink it as a soup. They have these dipping sauces for the grilled food which is a must-try. They offer all-you-can-drink for a small portion of the price. A personal or for the group. I always end my meal with sweet bread with condensed milk. The service was there, they cleaned up the empty place when they see it. If we needed them we weren't going to wait for them to attend to us, we just call on them to come by. They don't mind there are a lot of new workers so it's fine. This isn't my first time here. Last night there were a lot of things that need to be addressed. 1. Maybe give an option for a BIG group where everyone was wearing their jackets to have a place to hang them and not just over the plexiglass that divided the seats. 2. They can burn very quickly if you're not watching the grill. The flavour was very bland and I wish they would've been marinated first like all the other bbq. But I guess it's so you can put the diy sauces onto it? But I feel it's still bland & chewy though.. -for several times some of the orders were missed or something was brought out to which we didn't order The service was good in the beginning but it got slower near the end of the night. Negatives: 1. AUTOMATIC SERVICE CHARGE of 15%. To add salt to the wound, they still have a tipping request when you pay. Not being able to choose how much I tip is very off-putting to me. I hate tipping culture, but I tip willingly when I eat in. However, the fact remains that it should be optional, not a mandatory tax. Nasty. 2. No range hood (to vent out smoke) above grill will result in you breathing smoke and smelling horrible afterwards. Also, there's a good chance your jacket will need to be dry cleaned after due to the smell. 3. Service is horrible. The servers are young, but seem to hate the job. A few, but not all, were unfriendly and unwelcoming. 4. The meats were good, but the hotpot was not. This place is overrated, especially on Google reviews. We decided to try it out given the high ratings I've seen but the service is just awful. There were a lot of tables available when we arrived but we were placed at the far end, which is fine. It was very hard to catch the attention of any server (at least 15mins) and each order took 20-30mins to arrive, not mentioning that some items were missing or we were given the wrong order. At one point we even had to get up to ask for our foods. There were staff serving the tables in front of us but they don't even lift their head to look at us. Whenever they're done, they just turned around and left. We saw one staff with two big jugs of water and refilled the table in front of us and just left with the 2nd jug still full. Our cups were just never refilled. Also had to ask for napkins. Portion is very small. They said each order = portion for the whole table. But 1 order of mushroom = 4 half-mushrooms for 4 people?? Not even one mushroom for 1 person. 1 order of fried bun = 2 fried buns for a table of 4... We also noticed that they don't clear up the empty plates and would just hand us our foods and leave despite having 3 stacked plates ready for them to pick. Some staff were fine but others were just worse. We spent 2.5 hour there and we were not even full like what an AYCE is supposed to offer. We wanted to order one last time and waited for 15 minutes but no one even came near us and so we just left. Stay away, this is just a waste of time. Better go to another AYCE hot pot in the area. The food was good, on par with other ayce hotpot place. But i must say they have a good dessert selection, which we couldn't enjoy much given the half portion. I heard about this place from someone at work and she says it's her fave place to go and since I love K/JBBQ and hotpot I had to go and see for myself. Overall it was a pretty decent experience. Non of the grill options were marinated but it was fine since the sauce made up for it but just a heads up - service could def be improved. No one came by to take our paper or check up on us after being seated for abt 10-15min. We had to get up and bring it to the front. - the host came to the front and took another group's info so they can be on the waitlist but walked away right away and did not even acknowledge us even tho we just walked in ... after few min host came back to seat a couple that's been waiting there and again did not acknowledge us (there were only 3 couples waiting at this point including us) .... After awhile it didn't seem like the host was going to come back so I had to stand almost into the dining area to get his attention and only then did we get acknowledged. Overall its pretty decent and we would probably come back mainly because its the only place we know that offers both. Food is avg with items being above avg. servers need to be more attentive of diners, the dining area is not that big, we shouldn't have to flail our hands just to get noticed. I took the option of both for $39.99 (was more than this because weekend pricing). The meat for the bbq was not good in my opinion when comparing to other favourites (gyubee, shinta etc.) The pineapple came out of a can which I didn't like. Portions are kind of funny and vary based on what you order. The hot pot meat was good and so were the broths. They have a $15% service charge and 5% off if you pay cash.
