If you want to do it all then this plc is perfect, combining Korean style bbq and Chinese hotpot. We are a group 4 and we really enjoyed the variety and vibes and beer. We were having a bday meal and ppl next to our door were having a bday meal too and they joined our bday song singing, great fun, very chill customers. You'll love it if you are into real spicy Chinese food

Terrific KBBQ and okay hotpot. I actually don't think you can get halal KBBQ/hotpot anywhere else in downtown Toronto, so obviously that is an advantage as well. They do have non-halal items as well (some pork dishes), but they will help you cross out what is non-halal if you tell them. The KBBQ and hotpot combo is $44.99 on weekends for dinner, which is comparable to other places in Toronto nowadays. My favourite items were the BBQ beef slices and the cooked chicken wings. There was only one grill for our table of 5, while there were 4 spots for hotpot. I probably would have liked it if there were more BBQ spots and less hotpots. We did wait around a lot for certain meats to cook, especially the chicken. What I did not like was the hotpot base I chose, which was just the spicy one. There was a weird aftertaste. My colleagues enjoyed the ones they chose (spicy tomato, sukiyaki, tom yum) so maybe I just chose poorly. Overall the service was okay and the food was okay. I would come again.

Got the Grill and Hot Pot Combo. Loved the Hotpot! Got the Tom Yum and Tomato Soup bases. Highly recommend those flavours. As for the Grill part, it was okay. Nothing special, though the grilled pineapple was a nice touch. Service was good, explained all the menu options and also explained the pricing. Be advised that your clothes will smell of smoke as there is no exhaust pipe, so wear clothes you don't mind getting smelly. Also they have a mandatory service charge!

A great place which is reasonably priced for a Korean grill/hotpot. $50 per head by the time you've paid taxes. We had a large party so we had a private room for 16. There is a sauce bar where you go and choose your dipping sauces- unlimited and mix and match. The quality of the meats and vegetables was great and there is a large variety to choose from. The service does need improving. Not everyone had been to such a restaurant where we cook ourselves, and so guidance is needed. Many in our group went ahead and ordered everything they wanted- which is not good. Items should be brought out in rounds, which was not clarified. So we ended up having more raw food than we could place on the table. We have piles of raw meat everywhere! We, the customer are responsible for this but one would think the server would use his common sense too! The other issue we had was we had ordered four hotpots. This was for everyone. The server decided to put all the hotpots at one end, making it unavailable for the rest of the party. Overall it's a great experience at a great price. Just be smart when ordering and control your group! Don't be like Sarah's crazy family!!!!

=== 1. VERDICT/VALUE 4.5 stars: the price looks steep but to be fair, everything does right now post-pandemic with all of the inflation. Overall, it's a good place to go based on the food selection, service, and environment. === 2. FOOD There's all-you-can eat BBQ ($36), or hot pot ($36) or both ($40). Don't eat beef? No problem. Need halal? No problem. Vegetarian? No problem - but stick with the hot pot, since that option has more vegetables. There's an extensive number of options for meats, some options for vegetables, and few options for carbs. There were only three options for dessert. Drinks in general are a la carte, except for pop/soda, which seems to be a flat rate for everyone in your party. You mark up your desired order on a paper menu and the server orders it on a Chinese-based app on a phone. We came as a group of 16 co-workers (hence the lack of pictures) and requested a private room which despite the 15% service charge, was totally worth it for the environment. === 3. SERVICE Sean was the primary server for us this evening and he was great! There was constant attention in providing food (other servers were courteous as well), clearing dishes, and making sure everything is in order. Service was fast. === 4. ENVIRONMENT So it's on the second floor in what looks like Chinatown, and I didn't see an elevator, so those with wheelchairs and baby strollers would not find it accessible. Once inside, it's an alright place, light predominantly (and well) with bare-bulb lights. The washrooms are relatively modern and clean and overall it's inviting enough to come again. As another Yelper mentioned, the exhaust fans keep the air between folks relatively clear but you are coming out attracting every dog in the neighbourhood. Parking was a challenge initially - we eventually found street (metered) parking.

Hot damn...came for dinner Friday night and it was hella heavy. I did kbbq and hot pot combo, why not ? Friday night... let's go crazy!!! I don't usually go for all you can eat mainly bc I can't eat my monies worth. But I ate a lot .... Worth it. Fun to have both pot and grill going at the same time. It was a lot.... It was great! Don't get me wrong! Staff were wonderful! Service was fast! Got what we ordered. And got the bill on time. I'm not doing it again. That was hell of a lot of food. But the experience was fun. I smell awful now but that's a given when you go for hotpot/kbbq loool. And this is perfect weather for hot/spicy/grilling food!!!

We went with a large party and were able to utilize their private room. They do ask if you are there for the halal menu and will cross of all else. You have a choice between Hot Pot or Grill or both. Price varies between the two but around $40 + typically/person.. We opted in for both: Hot Pot: Tum Yum broth was delicious! We ordered a variety of different meats, and veggies to add to the boiling broth. You can change the temperature of the hot plate as you cook the broth. There's plenty of broth for one person. Grill menu: we ordered a variety of meats and veggies to grill. One of our grill was certainly a-lot slower as we left the corn on for over 15 min and it was just lightly grilled. Collectively, we all decided that hot pot was better in terms of flavours. th Be prepared to walk out smelling like the food.

Went for lunch on a weekend. Absolutely empty for probably 2 hours, so it's like VIP service? Sat near the front and it was easy to get attention. Price went up $5 compared to before ($33 for hotpot on weekend now), but probably they aren't getting enough business. Plus $5 for soup. This is still comparable to other options around. The Korean soup base is quite nice. They don't do chicken wings anymore though :(

Basic options like Sesame paste and soy sauce Etc
    Miss Lady ..

Halal meat but pork is served here too. Make a reservation before coming! It gets booked up, and the latest you should come is 1 hour before closing. If you come later, they'll tell you they can't serve you. It makes sense because it takes time to prep the food. It was my first Hot Pot experience. They were about five or six different options for the hot pot broth. They had lots of different meats and vegetables and Seafood. My favorites were the chicken dumplings and the spicy sirloin beef. The beef balls were a little bit hard. Not so enjoyable. I recommend the Sichuan and Tom Yum soup. Only drawback is that when we ordered two portions of things sometimes the only brought us one. The wait staff was hard to flag down and we had to keep requesting water refills and had to request napkins. They werent provided. In addition they added a generous tip of approx 17% to the bill without our consent and handed me the machine which was pure fuqqery. You have to walk up approximately 2 flights of stairs to get here and underground green p parking is about one block away at $2.50 per 30 mins. The seating for the two seater hot pot table is a bit tight. The washrooms were also tight and nasty and the womens had no lock on the door.

I went with a group of five and we had reserved two days ahead. The wait staff were polite and came by regularly to remove trays as needed. The food itself was good for a hot pot/kbbq experience, which costed about $50 per person. This was a really fun experience and would recommend for a group of friends!

The broth was sweet, savoury, and not overly tangy. We got it with sweet potato noodles, which had the most satisfying and addictive chew. There was already so much meat and veg in there that you really don't need to add much else. My only thing is I wish there were more sweet potato noodles to go with everything in the bowl. We added the pig trotter (because duh!), which was perfectly seasoned, tender, and had that nice gelatinous texture. Because of how big the portion was, we took the leftovers home, added more glass noodles, and was still able to get two full meals out of it the next day! The MaoCai broth was pretty spicy. We went with medium, and were breaking a sweat. The numbing heat hits fast and makes it hard to sip on the broth while eating (definitely not for the weak). Still, it had a solid ratio of meat to veg to noodles, and everything held up well with the broth. The parfaits were exactly what we needed after all that hotpot. The Citrus Garden Green Tea had a nice blend of green tea, citrus, and coconut that worked surprisingly well together. But the Brown Sugar Black Tea Parfait was our favourite. The tapioca balls were perfectly chewy and not too sweet, and the mix of black tea and grass jelly gave it such a good combo of textures. It was rhe perfect cool down. From what I hear, if you can say their tongue twister 3x in 30s you can get 50% off their new ice cream parfaits!

Uh not so fast cow-people, there was a mix up and they said they would call us again so back out onto the street and we did a take 2 back to Hoops. I ordered us another pint, each, pushing what we should be doing on empty stomachs when suddenly my phone went off again. Since there were two, almost full, pints in front of us, and we were more hungry than thirsty by that point, I had the job of finishing off the brew. So my recollection of Souper is a bit muddled, but I do remember the spice and the seafood, both standouts at Souper. The atmosphere was quite electric that night as well, typical of anywhere in Yonge St downtown, and we continued having a blast into the June night, with full bellies and all.

By the time we left (almost 1.5hr later), there was 15group waiting-time. Not usually big fan of hotpot, but oh my...this is good! Got the laksa broth. Theres diy section for sauces. Drink is good (maybe it's grape? it was offered in a small paper cup by the door as we exit). Free soft vanilla ice cream at the end (perfect to balance the savory soup). Fast service. Busy! As you come in, right away walk to the machine by the door to register ur name for waitlist. P.S. Reading reviews, somebody mentioned about mixing broth. So I tried to do the same, but it's not allowed (only order 1 type of broth). Highly recommended

This is a new concept for us US-East Coasters and we enjoyed the customer service and the process…read moreof how to get your ingredients and how they served your bowl. So, how this works is you get your pot/bowl, get the ingredients you want first, they scale your bowl on how much to charge you, then you select your broth. I didn't want to die that night, so I got the Collagen Bone Broth. Very simple! You can also make your own dipping sauce on the side which made it very convenient if you got a simple broth like me. Restaurant is very modern and hip. I love how things were kept clean, such as the table, floor, stations to get your sauce. We ended with getting the matcha ice cream which was really good! Highly recommend this spot, for sureeee!

I have been to a few malatang and I had high hopes for this one... it did not meet my expectations…read more I joined the waitlist and got called when my table was ready. The area to pick up a bowl was hectic. Very crowded space between picking ingredients and paying. You don't get a table until you pick up your bowl + paid. Everything was just stressful - lots of people, I am in my bulky jacket, holding my purse, etc. The food took some time to come out. Probably around 30 minutes... Ingredients were missing from some of our bowls. And some of the stuff was overcooked. The kimchi soup also had little soup and was very thick??? All the soups were salty but not particularly fragrant or super flavourful. As someone who loves soup noodles, I was not impressed. The best part of the meal was the ice cream. They had a seasonal flavour, ube, which was good but on the sweeter side. The matcha ice cream was great - and my favourite part of my meal. Our bowls ranged from $18 to $30 per a bowl. It's an additional $2 to add cheese and $3 do a bowl of rice. The restaurant can get very busy on a weekend evening, and noisy!

I have an onion and garlic intolerance (I will be sick for 2-4 days if I get any), and some restaurants are born good with handling that. The staff checked all the prepped stuff and sauces and came back with suggestions of what I could have. One of the suggestions was the sukiyaki hotpot. I enjoyed it so much I've been back twice for it, and will be going in the future. The first visit was with friends, and they all really enjoyed their food as well, so my dish isn't a lone syandout.

We decided to share a bunch of dishes so we can try a bit of everything. The popcorn chicken was so delicious, perfectly crunchy and well seasoned. The BBQ sausage was very flavorful. The beef steak egg pancake was also good, though a bit oilier than expected. Our sukiyaki hotpot with udon had a nice, comforting broth and the toppings were solid. My favourite was the house-special minced pork on rice. Its a pretty simple dish but always hits the spot. The portion size is a bit smaller than if you were to compare to a traditional Chinese style restaurant. I would say this place leans more toward trendy, individual/fusion-style Taiwanese dining rather than big family style platters. In our case, with 5 people sharing mostly appetizers / smaller dishes, we ended up spending about $20 per person (tip + tax included) which is still a pretty good deal. I'd absolutely go back for the popcorn chicken and the minced-pork rice bowl again.
