Minced Pork on Rice lunch combo
    Annie C.

My family was visiting Toronto and were very pleasantly surprised to find a great Taiwanese restaurant in the downtown area. They have great lunch combos that come with some small sides and drinks. We ordered the minced pork on rice combo, a fried pork chop combo and a shacha sauce hotpot. The hotpot came with a lot of items, probably enough for two people that aren't super hungry to share. Service was okay. It wasn't busy when we went and there were some lulls. The inside of the restaurant reminded me of an izakaya. There's downstairs and upstairs seating, we sat downstairs. Food was delicious and prices were very reasonable. Will definitely come back when we visit the Toronto area again.

My favorite place for dessert toast in dt. It's always super busy and has cute decor. Staff is friendly, but the best part is their cube toast with ice cream. You'll have to wait 15min but it's so worth it. The toast is fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. You can get a meal while you wait but since I have only gone for their sweets, I have gotten the dessert hotpot, which is like a giant bubble tea served in a hotpot. It's a lot of food though so go with friends. My personal favorite is the mango. Love this place, highly recommend.

I came here for dinner with one of my friends and had a very cozy meal! The inside of the place has tons of seating for groups of different sizes, lots of fun decor, and TV + music. Service is pretty quick here and very nice. When I went, I got the popcorn chicken as well as a sukiyaki udon hot pot to share with my friend. The popcorn chicken was crispy, came with spicy mayo sauce, and was a HUGE portion. The sukiyaki udon was warm, filling, came with lots of meat/toppings, and was also a fairly big portion. Between the two of us, we took leftovers of both home. Everything was delicious and I could definitely see this as a favorite spot for many. Highly recommend.

I love how my friends and I can come here late in the evening after 10 pm to hang out, as it's one of the rare few restaurants that stays opened into midnight. I don't love how it's always packed and we have to wait for seats, prob because there's really nowhere else for people to go and hang out that's opened. At the same time, I do like the menu offered as it ranges from appertizers to pretty drinks to savory food to desserts. In my case, I ordered a mango dessert that was yum. What I don't love is the inconsistency of friendly service. It's like a mood swing. Overall, everything checks out and if service is friendlier, this place would be awesome!!

Food was delicious ! Ambiance is fun. And service was just attentive enough. I've been wanting to try this place for awhile but there's always a line so we went on a slightly rainy day and no wait! I would call their food Taiwanese fusion. But everything we got you could definitely get the authentic aspect of it but just a slight twist. I would say, their one thing is the bathroom. It's quite a trek too get there. But I would definitely be back again to try more things !

I would recommend trying their bread bowl and sizzling plates if you haven't. They were the most memorable during my recent visit. The hotpot was overflowing and to keep it continuously warm, they change the flame whenever it runs out. Their drinks were beautiful too, almost too pretty to drink. Service was excellent! I came here specifically for their personal hot pot and I was pleasantly surprised. The personal hot pots are around $25 per dish and they are humongous - definitely more than one person can finish alone. I got the house special hot soup and it came with a huge variety of toppings and the soup was flavourful without being overly salty. The other dishes were good as well, like the sizzling curry chicken on rice which was rich and delicious. The beef and egg rolls were good though a little pricey for the size I thought. If you download the Mabu app you can also get a free Milk Pudding dessert, which we thoroughly enjoyed. I will definitely be back!

This fusion restaurant is close to University of Toronto. It is popular among the student and close by business. The restaurant is not big. There are long table to share among the customers if you cannot get the individual table. We have two dish to try. The first one is the Taiwanese popcorn chicken. The popcorn chicken do not have the basil leaves. But the taste is there. The second dish is Grilled Angus Beef Short Rib. This dish has grill short rib, rice and porch egg. The flavor is good. Quantity is just in the middle. Can be more for the price charge. Service for this restaurant is good. Majority of the menu is Taiwanese street food.

The food is decent, not something I'd crave all the time, but a solid option when I'm not sure what to eat. The sausage with garlic is a great combo. I wasn't a fan of the bubble tea, though, it didn't quite hit the mark for me. Seats are not too comfortable.

The store is cute, kind of dark and has a lot of retro decorations. We came in pretty early and the service was extremely kind and attentive. You order using your phone, but the waiter checks in to make sure your order is correct. Additionally they can pack up your food for you. I got the popcorn chicken rice bowl which was nice. It's got good seasoning and the rice is done well. I like the little pieces of stewed pork belly they put on the top. My boyfriend got a hot plate with beef which the server also mixed for him. It tasted really good and stayed hot for a good while. Overall the food wasn't too expensive either, I don't think we spent more than $14 per person. Have been here before and I recommend the sukiyaki style rice bowl too. Overall food is good, service was a lot better this time. Looking forward to next trip.

Mabu Generation specializes in Taiwanese cuisine with Chinese and Japanese fusion! I highly recommend the Taiwanese style grilled angus steak egg pancake, their sizzling hot plates and the Oreo lava chocolate cake! Generous portions, we had more than enough plus some to take home. Great service and a well decorated mural in the interior.

Definitely would recommend these. Portions seem small but it's actually a lot of food! The food was amazing; here's what we ordered: * Q04 Taiwanese Style BBQ Sausage & Minced Pork on Rice $14.99 * N02 Grilled Sliced Angus Beef Short Rib & Chicken w/ House Special BBQ Sauce & Mapo Tofu on Rice $18.99 Came here with a group of 5. Just an FYI, this place is best suited for small groups of 4 or less. Was a little disapppinted because we waited about 30mins for a table for 5 because there was only one table in the whole restaurant for 6. Service was okay. It took a little long for us to get seated but the by the time we sat down we knew what we wanted to order and it came out quickly!

    Spicy hot pot

I'm feeling generous, I'll give this place a full 5 stars. So after the small snack we got at Hazukido the 4 of us headed to Mabu to round off dinner. It was a Saturday night so we had to wait a few minutes to be seated but it was alright. We all split the spicy miso hotpot, 2 of us didn't handle spicy well but luckily they were able to make it milder. We also got a side of instant noodles which I believe was $1.99 so I feel I should have just grabbed a packet of my own Mr. Noodles at home. Very fun times, everyone agreed the food was good. Then we decided to also order the Boba hotpot. Usually I never get milk teas but the milk tea base of this was delicious, the chopped peanuts made this taste like a mars bar. The amount of toppings was generous and Boba was chewy. Definitely had a great experience here. We paid in cash so it ended up around $13.50 each for 4 people sharing these 2 hotpots.

This place is close to a pub we used to go to all the time! We were over in no time and walked in. It was pretty empty but it was raining pretty hard when we dropped in. We had a scan at the menu and they had some specials. You could get a main but you could also make it a combo where you get a side and a drink. After having a quick look through the menu, I definitely wanted a scallion pancake with an egg. I combo'd it so I got a hash brown as well as a milk tea. We grabbed a seat, the seating in here is limited but I can't see people sitting in here for too long. I just wanted to give you a heads up in case you come with a large group. Our order was out in no time in a bunch of wrapped paper wrappers. I ripped open all my bags to check out my breakfast and they looked alright. The pancake with egg was decent as well as the hash brown I got. The milk tea wasn't overly sweet. This place has quite a number of different breakfast options and interesting ones that I'd definitely come by to try something else. Small but convenient location with a good amount of seating bar and table height seating. It was quiet on a weekday afternoon so I got my order in around 10 mins. The chicken was great, very crunchy, well seasoned both on the outside and the inside, and the chicken was juicy and tender. Since the last time I ate Monga, admittedly quite a while ago, they've changed the chicken from bone in to boneless. A nice touch for making it easier to eat on the go. The portion size is similar, well enough for a hungry single person or 2 people to share as a snack, and pricing is very fair given the downtown Toronto area. Only area for improvement would be letting the chicken sit a bit longer post frying, as my chicken was very greasy. I let it sit a while to drain so no big deal. Staff were nice and explained the chicken types differ by breading - crunchy being a type of potato starch, the original fried is flour, and the lazy chicken a crunchy powder.
