A fried chicken joint that offers many flavours and types of fried chicken! Conveniently located in downtown Toronto. Spotted this place because of a fried chicken craving and wanted to give it a try. Ordered an Okinawa seaweed and Taiwanese popcorn chicken at the cashier. The staff were nice and friendly and they brought the order to the table. The only thing I'd note is that the order I think took longer than expected like 20 to 25 mins than the regular 15 to 20 minutes. I think because there were a lot of online order pick-ups before ours. The chickens were crunchy tender juicy! I love the flavour of the seaweed on the chicken breast. Plus it was well cooked and not dry. Chicken breast tend to be dry when over fried and I'm happy this one wasn't. The popcorn chicken was made with dark meat and it was super yummy! I'm an avid fan of popcorn chicken so this one is definitely favourite! Love this type of food and would come back to try the other flavours and get another order of popcorn chicken!

It's the bad boy of chicken.

Hot Star was my first dose of Taiwanese style fried chicken and I've been hooked ever since and trying as many different places as I possibly can. Saturday for lunch was finally Monga's time to shine and it definitely did. We arrived just when they opened and I was immediately impressed by some of the different options they had for the chicken (fried chicken, nuggets, etc). I was originally planning on just ordering the original but thanks to one being covered in cheese I knew I needed to give that bad boy a chance. The workers were friendly and the food took some time to come out but that's what happens when good food needs to be prepared! When the food was finished I was also finished, and ended up in heaven after the first bite. My Chee-Z chicken was delicious. The cheese on top was fantastic and the meat underneath it was full of delicious juicy flavour. Overall, although I still have to give the 1st Place trophy to Hot Star, Monga is definitely a close second place. The food here was absolutely delicious and needs to be tried!

Heard so much about Monga Chicken, so I had to pop in when I came across it on Yonge Str. They were featuring their crispy chicken, so I ordered 2 pieces - one spicy and one non. I really enjoyed the spicy one as it was flavourful. The regular crispy chicken which I tried first, was non- descript for me as I found it to be rather bland. Instead of fries, i ordered a bun with condense milk along with oolong milk tea. It's like an upgrade from the regular combo. The milk tea was nice and not too sweet. The bun was kind of plain. All in all, the chicken were crispy, juicy and piping hot. If the regular chicken had more taste, it would have been even better. I wouldn't mind going back to try their other items on the menu as they looked interesting.

I am a lover of all chicken, especially fried chicken and I was super excited to finally eat one the size of my head. I ended up getting the seaweed one and the regular one. The trip home took about 20 mins but the outside was still crispy without the need to reheat. Though I would say the coating was a lot thicker than expected and because of that some bites had more chicken than the other. I loved that it was not as oily as traditional fried chicken so it doesn't make you feel bloated and tired afterwards. I would say that one piece is definitely enough for one person and even to share if you're not that hungry. My favourite is the seaweed one - super flavourful.

Yummmmmm ordered some fried chicken to go. It came in a box! Super crispy and flavourful fried chicken. Pieces were hugeeeeee. Wish it came w some more slaw to cut through the grease lol. I tried the Hot chick and the Standard. Hot chick was a little spicier but I liked the kick ! The standard was super satisfying. Great addition to the neighbourhood! I'd definitely go back here again.

I had a late lunch today at Monga Fried Chicken. I got a fried chicken combo ($14.99) ... it was a chicken breast, fries and a pop. There was no sauce ... just pepper and salt on the chicken. I found it was a bit much and if I go back, I'd get it without the pepper and salt. The chicken was juicy and tender and at first boneless ... but it was weird to run bones just after halfway. I don't know why they batter chickenless bones ... I would rather just be served a boneless chicken breast.

This was such a clutch place for fried chicken. There's a ton of deep fried chicken burgers going around now, but for classic Taiwanese fried chicken this place is so clutch. They fry everything to order and you can tell by the color of the chicken the oil is fresh (light yellow/golden as opposed to dark brown).

Another taiwanese fried chicken place downtown, just a block away from Hot Star. Prices and presentation are similar, but Monga offers some different types of items like Bao's. Lines get long, and as a result, the wait-time for your order also gets long. There were about 15 orders ahead of us and ended up waiting 25 minutes before our order was ready. If you get it to go, they'll give you a cute box. Otherwise, you'll just get a plate. Or perhaps everyone gets a box, but I think it would make more sense for it to be strictly a take-out box. Ordered the The King, which comes with salt and pepper. The chicken is thick. The breading is thin and crispy. It can get a bit dry because of how thick it is. I feel that if they just smashed it a bit thinner it might be better in this case like how Hot Star does it? Hot Star's chicken is quite thin compared to this place. I feel like I'm getting more chicken here as a result, but that's only because each bite comes with more chicken. Not bad. $10 gets you a piece of chicken from both places. However, fried chicken is fried chicken, and they're competing with korean fried chicken and places like popeyes or KFC (also, all along the same general area), which makes it difficult because you're probably getting more chicken from its competitors for what you're paying for.

I finally got to visit this famous fried chicken restaurant that I've seen so many foodies going too. Coming inside, you'll be invited by a whif of fresh fried chicken smell that'll make you drool and your stomach growl. We were greeted by the cashiers who were patient as we were deciding what to order, and they were nice enough to explain any questions we had about the menu. When you order, they ask for the spiciness level you want. After placing we placed our order, we grabbed a seat as we wanted to dine in. The chicken did not take too long to come, maybe 10-15 minutes which is a pretty normal wait time. One of the staff would come place your order on the table. Let's talk about the chicken. We ordered the wings, and wow, I can't explain how juicy each piece were! The skin was perfectly crispy but at the same time, I didn't taste the oil as I would with Popeyes, plus, there was a good amount of spices to make it flavourful. I was super satisfied with my wings, and I'll definitely come back when I'm in the area again! Thank you Monga for the delicious meal :)

    Fried chicken baogers

PREFACE: I planned a trip to Taiwan and Monga was highly suggested by friends who've been. So when I read that Toronto had a few locations, I made it my mission to visit. Upon entering the Yonge and Bloor location, I was welcomed with a modern vibe and the open the kitchen. Initial thoughts, they have a really strong ventilation system as I could not smell grease or anything and this was after seeing that a few fryers were bubbling away cooking up some chicken for the customers ahead of me. On my first visit, I ordered the Taiker, I was really curious to taste the seaweed topping and after listening to the server's suggestion, I also followed up with an order of fresh watermelon juice. The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. It was simple, but the added topping of seaweed elevated the taste. Get the watermelon juice, that too was next level good. On my second visit, I ordered the fried chicken baogers. I was told that the bao gets shipped from Taiwan, and the hype did not disappoint. Dang! It was delicious. 1 baoger is good for snack and 2 is a good meal. I will definitely be visiting to try the other flavours and sauces!

Great fried chicken options with an Asian twist ! The pieces are huge! They have awesome sweet potato fries too. Their pineapple tea was very satisfying.
