Red Braised Pork Bento
Richard L.

Ordered from C-block for lunch delivery one day. Will definitely get this again. Good mix of protein and vegetables and they give you the option to customize as well. It led to a very satisfying and fulfilling lunch with a good variety of components. The packaging was convenient, delivery was fast, and everything was easy and delicious.

I have an onion and garlic intolerance (I will be sick for 2-4 days if I get any), and some restaurants are born good with handling that. The staff checked all the prepped stuff and sauces and came back with suggestions of what I could have. One of the suggestions was the sukiyaki hotpot. I enjoyed it so much I've been back twice for it, and will be going in the future. The first visit was with friends, and they all really enjoyed their food as well, so my dish isn't a lone syandout.

We decided to share a bunch of dishes so we can try a bit of everything. The popcorn chicken was so delicious, perfectly crunchy and well seasoned. The BBQ sausage was very flavorful. The beef steak egg pancake was also good, though a bit oilier than expected. Our sukiyaki hotpot with udon had a nice, comforting broth and the toppings were solid. My favourite was the house-special minced pork on rice. Its a pretty simple dish but always hits the spot. The portion size is a bit smaller than if you were to compare to a traditional Chinese style restaurant. I would say this place leans more toward trendy, individual/fusion-style Taiwanese dining rather than big family style platters. In our case, with 5 people sharing mostly appetizers / smaller dishes, we ended up spending about $20 per person (tip + tax included) which is still a pretty good deal. I'd absolutely go back for the popcorn chicken and the minced-pork rice bowl again.

First time at this location as I usually frequent the Mississauga one. I ordered the crunchy…read moretaiker/seaweed chicken and dined in. Small but convenient location with a good amount of seating bar and table height seating. It was quiet on a weekday afternoon so I got my order in around 10 mins. The chicken was great, very crunchy, well seasoned both on the outside and the inside, and the chicken was juicy and tender. Since the last time I ate Monga, admittedly quite a while ago, they've changed the chicken from bone in to boneless. A nice touch for making it easier to eat on the go. The portion size is similar, well enough for a hungry single person or 2 people to share as a snack, and pricing is very fair given the downtown Toronto area. Only area for improvement would be letting the chicken sit a bit longer post frying, as my chicken was very greasy. I let it sit a while to drain so no big deal. Staff were nice and explained the chicken types differ by breading - crunchy being a type of potato starch, the original fried is flour, and the lazy chicken a crunchy powder. I'll be back next time I'm craving fried chicken and am in the area

There are also daily deals from Monday to Thursday, with my favourite being the popcorn chicken on Thursdays. Due to the name, I had expected a snack but what you get instead is enough for a full meal - especially if you add on the $1 fries. The spice powder is addicting and adds quite a kick. The wait times can be longer during dinner hours, but they usually tell you at the time of order so you know what to expect.

What time is it after a filling dinner? Sweet O'Clock time!…read more I always go here after I finish my dinner in Chinatown and am craving some bubble tea. For my trip today I got the Taro Milk Tea - the drink was well blended and very tasty. There is a nice drink to tapioca ratio and you won't feel like you inhaled an entire container of tapica nor will you feel like you drank an entire tub of juice. The shop is run by an older couple who are super friendly and are great to talk to, a good break from the commercial bubble tea shops which give a less "homey" feeling. As the other reviews mention the shop takes Credit, Cash, and Debit. I have run out of change sometimes and the owners sometimes take off the excess for me. Small gesture but very nice of them! Overall I definitely recommend this place if you want to satisfy your sweet tooth but also get your bubble tea from a place that will give you a more personal touch!

We have at least a dozen Thai restaurants but not a single Korean one, somehow. So I was surprised and delighted when I discovered that Hosu was operating a ghost kitchen out of ChiChop. I knew I had to try this for myself, so on a recent (and very cold) Thursday, I placed my order. I decided to get the Chicken Bibim Bap ("Original Korean bibim bop served with an assortment of vegetables & marinated chicken on rice") and it was ready for pickup as soon as I walked into ChiChop. It's fine. The accompanying gochujang sauce ensures that it always tastes like the venerable Korean dish, but the lack of ingredients was frustrating. I feel like this dish was 90% rice and glass noodles, and 10% other components (including chicken rife with inedible pieces). I ate the whole thing, of course, but was my bibimbap craving satisfied? Not entirely. We also decided to start with the Deep Fry Wonton ("Deep fried Chicken Wonton (12pcs) served with house made sweet & sour sauce), which was okay but nothing special. The chicken filling was so minuscule that it was almost impossible to taste, but the sweet & sour sauce was decent.
