On a weekday night, we were craving Taiwanese cuisine and finally decided to try this spot that our friends raved about. We ordered the pork chop on rice that came with tofu, egg, and veggies. At first glance, the pork chop was a bit on the thinner side. However, after taking a bite, we found it was juicy and the flavour was on point! The tofu, egg, and veggies on top made it a extra satisfying meal. Will definitely be visiting again soon for more pork chops!

Dead fly Very disgusting Luckily I have not started eating... the whole box will go into garbage can

Delicious but spicy

It always has a long line and busiest spot in the whole food court, but the service is efficient. ** The combo no longer offer drink or soup Pork Chop (#1) - flavourful, soft and tender. Beef Noodle (#7) - the noodle is bouncy, but the braised beef is very chewy and hard like a rubber. Food in general is spicy, so if you cannot handle the spiciness, you should reconsider to try this place.

Small takeout joint w lots of parking outside. Plexiglass and floor markers to help people social distance, and it also helps that food is cooked fairly quickly. The pork cutlet w rice was good, but I was more impressed w the Taiwan Beef Braised Noodle Soup - the soup, noodles and braised beef tasted fantastic! Warning if you get takeout, the soup is super hot!

This is my favourite restaurant to eat at the Metro Square. It is the first booth at the food court by the window. They are well known for their Taiwan style deep fried pork chop (#1 item on the menu, $7.25). Over the years however, I find that their portions gradually becomes smaller and smaller, and now they no longer come with complementary soup and soy bean milk with the dish. The pork chops still taste amazing though, so I would recommend just buy them for take home and skip the combos

Their specialty can never get bored of the Chicken with rice.

Their specialty can never get bored of the Chicken with rice. Tried the beef brisket for the first time. Its huge portion and has sauce all over the rice with broccoli. Shrimp fried rice was bland just like a regular fried rice.

Located inside the Food Court of Metro Square, this Taiwanese fast food place is popular amongst the locals. Food Court seating is available to customers only. We selected the # 1 (pork chop on steam rice or noodle) and a # 6 (chicken fillet with rice or noodle) meal, plus we add a side order of Tofu in chilli sauce $1.50 and two soups at $0.55 each. Both the pork chop and the chicken fillet were juicy and delicious. The rice was not fluffy but hard, the soup just average and the tofu was over-fried. Service and order fulfillment was quick. So, overall this place will get another visit soon.

Chin Yuan Pai Ku is a well-known Taiwanese food court kiosk in the Metro Square mall at the border Markham and Scarborough.  It's a popular place known for its Taiwanese pork chops and beef noodle soup as they tend to have the longest lines especially during the lunch and dinner rush. It's been a while since I've been here and decided to check them out as I was in the area.  I ordered their very popular #7 Taiwanese Braised Beef Noodle Soup for a very reasonable $7.25 plus tax. The broth is excellent and flavorful and the noodles were cooked perfectly chewy.  Unfortunately the beef itself was a bit too hard and gristly for me. Not sure if it was an off day but I remember it being much more tender in the past.  Either that or I may need dentures sooner then I thought:) I'll give them a 3 outta of 5 for now and come back another time to try the other items on the menu.

total value for the 7.25 you are paying. i don't know if there's any other authentic taiwanese food place that has this low of a price. there's more beef in the beef noodle soup than the menu picture. the beef itself is very large in portion for me i could barely eat the noodle... definitely the most popular stall in the entire food court. i think the meal used to come with soy milk or soup. but now the soy milk and soup are at extra price.

The fried chillis kick these noodles up to the next level

I am in love with this little food court establishment at Metro Square. They give a ton of al dente noodles with rich beefy broth and a ton of meat. What's not to like?! I love this place so much that when I finished my 6-week no carb diet, this was one of the first places I visited because I missed their noodles so much. The icing on the cake is that it's only $8 for a giant bowl of hearty goodness. I love their braised beef noodles so much that I'm apprehensive to try more dishes from this place. I heard their pork chops are really yummy but if I order their pork chops, i won't get the same noodles that come with the braised beef noodles. Yes, these are the kinds of dilemmas I face everytime I come here. Be sure to ask for some chili oil from them if you like your food with a kick of heat. The chili oil adds a nice oomph.

"Pai Ku" = Pork Chop So of course I need to order their "famous" Taiwanese Pai Ku with noodle ($6.25) that includes a soup or a soy bean drink. The Pork Chop itself is moist and tender. The batter reminds me of the 5 spice seasonings which is quite savory and it goes well with the preserved chili that serves with the meat, if you order spicy! However, I don't really enjoy the noodles, a little to soggy and oily and lack of real flavour. Next time, I think I will go with rice instead. Maybe I have to come back for their after 3 pm specials, Pig Intestine Please!

#1 combo

3.5/5 Hold on your horses, I can't give this place 4 stars. I'm not a huge fan of pork chop, hence that eliminates the option of #1 for me. My dad always enjoys it though, and if I were to base it squarely on that I would give 4 stars. I decided to have the braised beef noodle soup (forgot the number...#6 I think?). The portions were gigantic, and honestly I only wanted something light to fill me up, but this ended up filling me until way past dinner. The noodle felt like thick Japanese ramen, but I do know authentic Taiwanese noodles are somewhat like that. The veggies and beef were also very good, however I found there wasn't enough broth as the noodles soaked up a lot of the broth as I was eating (maybe that's why I failed to finish it). Even the broth itself was quite MSGy and salty, but I expected that in terms of food court standards. I still prefer Pa Pa Chang's and Mei Nung over this one, but it's definitely worth the value. The soup that comes with it is quite blah. You're better off just dumping it away or having soy milk. The cashier was quite direct and efficient, but had this mean tone as well. Again, I sort of expected it considering the fast food/food court/Asian setting. This is usually the busiest stall in the Metro Square food court, and with good reason. It's certainly unique amongst the other places, as there aren't many Taiwanese restaurants in the GTA (I can only think of three out of the top of my head). If I were in the food court and want something with soup or something warm, I definitely would come here.

No.10 Taiwan style spiced chicken with choice of rice or noodle. 6.45 plus tax

Simple food done well at a great price and large portions. The quality and quantity of food is on the better side of food court options. The set meals come with two types of vegetables, a mix of tofu and a marinated egg. Add in the self-serve pickled green vegetables or chilli sauce and there is plenty of flavor variety in a simple combo meal. This is definitely the busiest store in the whole food court, but they are fast with filling orders to the wait isn't too long. I had the three cup chicken, which was well seasoned and on the sweeter spectrum of sauces. Also, this one is probably the one combo with the most sauce, plenty enough to mix into your rice. If you are lucky enough to get the little nuggets of cooked garlic, that is even better. Unfortunately, the meals don't come with a drink anymore so bring your own or throw in an extra dollar for a drink.

I like how you can clearly see all the food available on display for you to choose and you can always ask to make sure whether you know what they are. Service was pretty quick and staff are pretty nice as well. Food It's setup line how you would see it in Taiwan. You choose a main and you select your choice of 3 sides. It's about $15 per bento. And they don't skip out on the quantity. I tried the classic popcorn and minced pork with sausage. Usually these are my go to and they did not disappointment. The chicken was very crispy and crunchy while the meat itself was still juicy. The minced pork was consistent and comforting on flavours. As for sides, I usually either do eggplant or veggies. They have egg/tomato and tofu. Their winter melon drink is also a good refresher. Glad to see these type of food available at Yonge and Finch. Perfect for people on the go or needing a quick bite

Not a big fan of Taiwanese cuisine but this place ain't too shabby…read more Exceptional service! Courteous and fast. Food was alright. We had pork hock, fried chicken bits, egg-yolk sauced chicken wings and this $25 set meal with noodles and soup - amongst other food items. Fairly priced and quite spacious dining area. Apparently this is a very famous restaurant in Taiwan so it's great that we can try it here in Toronto! My Taiwanese friend did the ordering as she was familiar with the popular dishes to try. She ordered two lunch specials. One lunch set was a little pricier for about $25 but if you pay cash there is 10% off on this item. This lunch set was really worth it as this combo included 6 side dishes, a main dish with a soup or milk tea...and for the main dish, you could choose Danmi noodles or Minced pork rice and we picked the noodles since we got the Pork Hock & Minced pork rice for our 2nd lunch set. The two of us shared all the items except my friend insisted that I have the marinated abalone side dish and this was so good! I will definitely be coming back because of this dish! I also liked the Danmi noodles and Pork Hock. Although the food was amazing but the service was lacking. It wasn't busy when we got there just before noon on a Wednesday and we had to wave the staff for help several times and the staff didn't even take our order correctly as we had asked for two tea and they only brought one. I will still be back as the food was really good and I love Taiwanese food!
