You will have to sell your shrimp yourself. Messy.

Overall, I'd say OK. A few things were good (ice cream), a few were bad (chicken on a stick were all burnt, shrimp were not shelled), most things were average.

Each year we go out to eat at an Asian restaurant to celebrate New Year's Day. This year, we chose the Mongolian BBQ. There is an extensive buffet with multiple stations - so many choices! The custom-cooked section had a great variety of meats, vegetables, and seasonings. The chef perfectly cooked the items I selected. The only thing that was challenging was that we picked a booth near the door and the cold breeze was a bit jarring every time someone left. We should have moved after the first time the door opened.

This was my first trip for lunch to the Mongolian grill. As I entered the establishment I was greated by aromas of meat with a hint of peanuts and garlic. The place was packed so that's a good sign the food was good. I started off with the buffet that had something for everyone then after a few items I went to the grill and loaded up my bowl. The cook was extremely good and the food came out just right. It was a an event just watching the grill chef work and the seasoning was good that was added and he made sure to add enough sauce so the meat was not dry. This was a pleasant experience and I will be making sure to go back again.

Fresh Mongolian bbq off the grill- done my way

I've tried all the different "bbq grill" type restaurants across this nation and Mongolian in Stillwater is the best. Always very fresh ingredients, especially up at the grill. It is "do it yourself" style so there isn't any predetermined recipes or other people mixing your plate. It is all up to you. The buffet is loaded up with several good options as well. Big salad bar and fruit/dessert options. The owner/manager regularly stop by the tables to chat with customers and is such a great guy, has great stories too.

Nice buffet selection. Large variety of fresh fruits, salads, sushi, appetizers, main dishes, sides and they have the build your own dish they cook right in front of you. Quality of food is pretty good. Large variety. On this visit the dumplings were cold and the sushi was dried out so I gave it 4 stars. I actually didn't even eat my sushi because it had a strong fish odor that was not appetizing. The fruit was perfect. I would defiantly go back. It may have been an off night for some of the dishes. It's incredibly muggy and hot so it may be throwing off some dishes. The ice cream machine is always a must! And it always works! Grabbing a twist cone for the drive home is a must.

Fresh stir fry, large buffet, cheap prices - 4 stars! FRESH STIR FRY If you're into fresh and healthy, the stir fry area in the back corner is a mandatory stop. They have beef, pork, 2 chicken meats (light and dark), in addition to tons of fresh veggies and ladles with sauces and oils. Yum! BUFFET They have a big buffet area in back. The food is about what you expect from a standard Chinese buffet...lots of overcooked mediocre stuff. But...there's a HUGE variety of it. They have a soft serve ice cream area too. You're sure to find something you like. There's so much of it, so much variety, and so cheap - it's really hard to complain about anything. DISLIKE The only thing I really disliked was the sushi. They only had a few varieties and it's was pretty bad. I'd say they should either upgrade this area or just skip it altogether. As it stands, it's subpar. PRICE Even though the food isn't 5 stars, you can't beat the prices. The lunch buffet was a mere $11.48 including beverages and tax. That's less than a McDonald's #1 Big Mac Meal. And you get unlimited food! SERVICE Last but not least, the service was excellent. Thumbs up! - Maxx

Sushi was poor. Food was luke warm. Huge wait at the grill. Service was good, but the food was largely disappointing.

I am struggling between rating this 3 vs 4 stars. I will say my real rating is 3.5 stars, but I…read morewill give them 4 since Yelp still doesn't allow half stars. Overall verdict: give them a try. I assume we will be back. We love HuHot and have been disappointed that there's no HuHot anywhere in the Twin Cities. I found this place and thought it would be a good alternative. I was correct! While I wouldn't say it's better than HuHot, they do some things better. Such as gloves when you are picking your items from the buffet, and free chips and salsa (the salsa is awesome). However, I was nervous to come here due to some of the other reviews, and while I don't agree with all of the negative ones, some of them are correct. The free white rice is incredibly mushy and soggy. I didn't really like it. The pasta itself did end up a bit soggy compared to HuHot, but I still enjoyed it. I do wish they had a few more sauce options and recipes. The flavor was pretty good, but I do sort of agree with some other reviews that I wish there was more flavor. I would encourage you to use more sauce than you think. I also agree that the atmosphere feels slightly dirty/old. The whole place could use a very deep cleaning or remodel. I'm also very upset that they are passing the credit card fee on to customers. That actually gives me pause about potentially not going back more than anything else. However, I did enjoy my meal. So I would guess that we will be back. But due to the credit card processing fee, lack of sauces, and a feeling of uncleanliness, we won't be rushing back anytime soon.

You either choose one bowl ($25) or the unlimited option ($29). Your table will be automatically served wontons crisps and salsa. There are extra menu items you can order beyond the bowl - such as appetizers. You fill the bowl up with as much ingredients you can fit into that sucker and then bring it over to the chefs and they will cook it for you. As I began to fill my bowl, all the memories and techniques I learned came flooding back. Add your protein first. I choose beef and positioned the meat around the outside of my bowl so I could fit more items in it - give that a try. Add in whatever other proteins, veggies, and sauces you'd like and top off with the noodles. I added the dragon sauce to my dish and it was tasty, but I'm warning all my MN locals - beware the dragon sauce. I can handle a little heat, but the two scoops of that sauce had me sweating. I'd definitely go back, but I'd check to find if they have lunch offered at a lesser cost. In a big group, it will get spendy.

I ordered the egg rolls, wontons, and the sesame chicken lunch combo. When we arrived, we noticed they had a lunch special available until 3 p.m. We asked if we could still order from that menu, and the woman taking our order pointed to her clock and said no. I glanced at my phone--it was 2:55 p.m. I asked her when the cut off time was and mentioned that their clock seemed a bit fast. She eventually let us order the lunch combo, but it was clear she wasn't thrilled about it. The interaction left us feeling a little awkward. As for the food--it was just okay. The wontons were bland and lacked any real flavor. The sesame chicken was underwhelming, missing that punch of sweetness and crunch I was hoping for. The side of rice tasted old and dry, like it had been sitting out for a while. The one highlight was the egg roll. It came out hot and fresh, crispy on the outside and filled with a good amount of veggies. It's definitely up there with my favorites. If I'm in the area again and my bestie is craving this spot, I'd be open to giving it another shot. Next time, I'd skip the combo and stick with the egg rolls, and maybe try her favorite dish--the lo mein. Hopefully, it'll be a better experience.

We got there right when it opened and they were plenty of classic options on the buffet. They also have hibachi which I think is a really good touch. I do wish they had coconut macarons as I remember the previous once having them and those were my favorite. I always look for them at buffets. I also wish they had cream cheese wontons instead of just crab rangoons as I don't like crab. We also found the soft serve to be quite icy and not very creamy. We were a group of 4 and it seemed all the tables were for large groups but we didn't want a booth. I'm not sure if that was because it was a holiday or if that is the typical layout. Prices were reasonable, especially for the holiday. We will definitely return.

This is a stand alone restaurant with plenty of free parking! Walking in a noticed the restaurant was very clean, bright and new looking. There is a waterfall that goes into a pond in one of the corners and I definitely thought that was fun!! I also really liked how the serving station was its own "little building" in the center. The vibes here were actually really great! The person who took our money did not talk or smile. But our server was extremely friendly and quick! Always made sure I had my drink filled up and plates were taken away quickly! The food: And this is where it all fell apart. Had the server and the restaurant itself not been great, this would have easily gone to 1 star. I read another review stating "everything here is sweet" and I agree! 90% of there items were very sweet! There was a salad bar but we did not try it. The chicken here is very small pieces with little to no meat, just crunchy coating. The chicken wings had a light crisp to them, and they were large, but lacking any real flavor. There weren't many options for dessert. My biggest complaint was that certain items had "funny" or "strange" flavors to them.... Like the ice cream had a weird after taste. The French fries tasted freezer burned. They did have a kind of create your own stir fry, where you pick the items and someone cooks it (that's included in your price) may be that was better? This just fell short for me. There is a Panda Express going in next door and as much as it kills me to say (I love supporting small businesses) your money would be better spent there....
