The line for the buffet was out the front doors... the line for the Mongolian BBQ area was about ten to 15 people long... there was only one chef. The food was sitting at the warming areas it seemed all day. The seating is tight. I'm only five feet tall and petite. If you like to wait in long lines this is a great place for you. I got here at 4pm and the restaurant was only half full. I came for the Mongolian BBQ but only ate off the buffet. People who got the BBQ station had to wait over 30 mins standing in line holding their food. Only one cook and 15+ people in the line. A tip for the restaurant. You could have people make their bowl, leave it with their name, and then call them when their food is ready. They could get a plate at the buffet or even just sit at their table instead of standing in that line. Buffet food was acceptable but not great and not the reason I went. This place is a great buffet barbecue joint. It's all you can eat for a very inexpensive price. All you can eat crab legs, are you kidding me. I usually go there and get a to go box and get food to go. Lunch is about $5 per pound, dinner is around $7 per pound. They are always replenishing the steam table with fresh food. Food was ok. It's was 8:00 pm Sunday and I understand there is one hour left to closing. They couldn't wait till closing to start wiping down the counter where all the food trays are. Like come on you have chemical cleaning in those water that your dipping your rag in and wiping away from the side of the food warmer to the top on the counter where the foods are. This place gives an experience like none other! You go in, pay, then it's all you can eat till you leave. On the barbecue part the line sometimes gets long, but when you get through it it's worth every second. The desserts look a little cheap, but they are still great. I go there a lot, and they never have put themselves in front of me. The best thing to get is mei fun with some fried rice and dumplings, but the thousands of other pairings are amazing. I have never ever left with an empty stomach, and I always have felt like I've gotten my money's worth. They are also very kid friendly and allow birthdays to be spent there. Who would have known in Stillwater, MN, you could find an authentic Mongolian BBQ restaurant? Unlike the other Mongolian BBQ places in the Twin Cities, this place offers a buffet in addition to the Mongolian BBQ. As a matter of fact, I am guessing their buffet is more popular than the Mongolian BBQ, because as busy as they are, they only have one grill for the BBQ. I think the buffet offerings are very good, and the Mongolian BBQ is about as authentic as I've had in the U.S. Their meats are fresh, and the sauce combinations make my BBQ bowls just the way I remembered from many years ago in Taiwan. Their wait staff is very attentive and constantly come over to refill our drinks. I don't know if they offer any alcohol or if the place is even BYOB, but you wouldn't come to a place like this to drink anyway. Parking is free and easy in the parking lot. The place is very clean. This is a real gem for Mongolian BBQ enthusiasts. Again, who would have known, of all places in the Midwest, I find this restaurant in Stillwater, MN???? Yum. read more

They have a pretty large buffet and a pretty nice chef-station, where you can choose your vegetables, meat and dressing and he will cook your noodles... But I ate there two times and two times I felt sick, even if the second one I ate less just to avoid going too far...I just felt sick a little less than the first time. I don't know if the food has some glutamate or it's me or whatever, but I won't come for a third shot. read more

Of the 6-7 foods I tried from the buffet, nothing was hot. So,I had the fresh cooked from the str fry line & that's always good. Waited for hot crab legs, was the first one there in line(only took crab legs)& got to table & they were cold. Not even lukewarm...This has happened the last 3 times I've been there.We tried to complain (told waiter, but he said he's only a server). I start by saying we have been going to the Mongolian for years on and off. In the beginning we actually enjoyed going, the food was good, and they allowed you to sit and talk for as long as you wanted space permitting. Recently we have gone very infrequently, because they have not been as friendly or as consistent on refills and plate removals. And the food has not been consistent, and recently been very Off tasting, from sitting too long under the lights---old. ******* I am not writing this review about those things, but rather on the non-existent cleanliness & health precautions taken by their employees. ********* My husband and I recently went there to eat on a Thursday night around 6 P.M. It was not crowded so there was plenty of help. Once seated and our beverages were brought I noticed our waiter acting like a "zombie from night of the living dead"! I got my food and I could not help but see him, as he was leaning up against the wall, right in my line of sight by their wait station. He had a terrible frown, and his head hung down like he was having a hard time standing up! I said to my husband this guy is sick! My husband could not see him but I had no choice. ******** The waiter started to rub or wipe his nose which was obviously runny, with his hand and he did not wipe or wash his hands afterwards. I was so grossed out I stopped eating. He continued getting drinks for customers and clearing tables all the while acting like he was going to fall over even when he walked. One of the employees near him that I know to be a supervisor, did nothing to indicate anything was the matter. I told my husband what I was seeing and the employee continued to wipe his runny nose numerous times with his hands. This continued for about 15-20 minutes. I could not believe what I was seeing, and tried to tell my husband I was too grossed out to even think of eating anything after watching this. We discussed what we should do all the while looking to see if any of his co-workers or customers were noticing his behavior. When he wasn't clearing tables or bringing drinks, because it was not crowded and had many empty tables, he was mostly leaning up against the wall and wiping/rubbing his runny nose with his hands. ********** Before I had a chance to do anything I saw him clearing an empty table by the stir-fry area. He wiped the table with a white towel then WIPED HIS NOSE WITH THE TOWEL, and then back to WIPING THE TABLE WITH THE TOWEL. ********* I TOLD MY HUSBAND I WAS OUT OF THERE AND RAN, BARELY MADE IT WITHOUT THROWING UP! THIS WAS A WEEK AGO TODAY AND I HAVE BEEN SICK IN BED WITH A TERRIBLE COLD AND UPPER RESPIRATORY INFECTION FOR 2 DAYS NOW. ******* I am positive that waiter passed some very contagious germs to ME, healthy people & children, the elderly, and people with health issues like myself who had the misfortune of eating there on those days. How many days did he work in that condition and expose those germs to how many people? ****** I have heard from other friends that even tho the employees wear gloves they never take the gloves off, wash their hands and PUT ON CLEAN GLOVES. ****** I have seen the waiters take apart whole booth sections and clean them in the very vicinity that your eating in. ******* The previous time we ate there, I asked the waiter to stop sweeping the carpet with a broom & dustpan, right next to our booth. I have asthma and all those little dust particles go airborne and are breathed in. ******** In the woman's restroom the paper towels are NEVER in the automated holder, instead are left in the open on the roll, on the wet surface on the counter of the sink or baby changing station! ******** These practices are not against the law, but are not practices that good, sanitary, health conscious, restaurants do when customers are eating. I had no other choice than to file a report with the Washington County Health Dept. after the incident. But it was before I got sick. I have also notified them that I have now come down sick and am very sick in bed with a cold or whatever???? and an upper respiratory infection. I am on medication from my Dr. for the upper respiratory infection. I still can't believe what I saw the waiter do and then ending up sick in bed. This has me so grossed out I will never set foot in the Mongolian Restaurant again. My hope is others read this, and report any unsanitary practices they have noticed there and that the restaurant and their employees are REEDUCATED in sanitary practices. What I saw was so outrageous to the point of ???, I wish I had said something at the time. But at the time we were so shocked you just don't know what to do. Hindsight, I wish. CURRENTLY THIS IS NOT A SANITARY, HEALTHY PLACE TO EAT. I CONSIDER IT VERY DANGEROUS BUT THAT IS MY OPINION! read more
