I really wanted to love this place. My best friend speaks so highly of it, so I was excited to give it a try. I sampled a few different dishes--maybe that was my mistake. I ordered the egg rolls, wontons, and the sesame chicken lunch combo. When we arrived, we noticed they had a lunch special available until 3 p.m. We asked if we could still order from that menu, and the woman taking our order pointed to her clock and said no. I glanced at my phone--it was 2:55 p.m. I asked her when the cut off time was and mentioned that their clock seemed a bit fast. She eventually let us order the lunch combo, but it was clear she wasn't thrilled about it. The interaction left us feeling a little awkward. As for the food--it was just okay. The wontons were bland and lacked any real flavor. The sesame chicken was underwhelming, missing that punch of sweetness and crunch I was hoping for. The side of rice tasted old and dry, like it had been sitting out for a while. The one highlight was the egg roll. It came out hot and fresh, crispy on the outside and filled with a good amount of veggies. It's definitely up there with my favorites. If I'm in the area again and my bestie is craving this spot, I'd be open to giving it another shot. Next time, I'd skip the combo and stick with the egg rolls, and maybe try her favorite dish--the lo mein. Hopefully, it'll be a better experience. read more

First time to SkyDragon and oh do I wish I lived closer. I'd say this is a hidden little takeout gem in Stillwater. We placed our order via online and you pay when you pickup. Enjoyed cream cheese wontons, sesame chicken, egg rolls, pork lo mein, and vegetable chow mejn. Everything was fresh, flavorful and delicious. Honestly, probably the best cream cheese wontons I've ever had! The amount of cream cheese in these things were incredible and fried to absolute perfection (non-greasy as well). The portions were very generous and we had leftovers. Staff were friendly and thanked us for our business. Great experience and I'll be back. Right on time with pick up and the lady is always so nice but should be Crispy Chicken and it was Soggy Chicken which I really dislike. Plus it was so spicy that it was hard to eat. Wow what a hidden gem, reasonable prices, good service, great food and nice portion size. First time visitor to Sky Dragon and I was very satisfied! My family gave great feedback with the exception of believing that they were a bit skimpy on the meat (I had to agree). Overall really delicious. We got General Tso's Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken, and Mongolian Beef. The beef dish was mostly onions with very little beef. The Kung Pao Chicken had a nominal amount of chicken. But the General Tso's seemed like a good balance. With all that said, I'm mostly just saying these things to tell the whole story in what was a genuinely good first experience and a sense that I may have found a new favorite Chinese food restaurant. None of the dishes were completely absent of meat. Each had genuinely delicious flavor. In addition, the portions were good if not generous. The presentation was neat and orderly. Late last night I was in a hurry to find food for 10, this popped up on Yelp as it was nearby, I placed the order online, was there in less than 15 just before they closed and everything was just getting packaged up for us. JoJo greeted me and we both looked at each other Deja Vu style for a moment before she asked if she knew me. The moment she said that I remembered her from a decade ago at a fantastic Vietnamese restaurant in St. Paul called Que Nha that I frequented with my then very young children. JoJo warmly welcomed our family on each visit. My daughter who is now 14 quickly recalled that is where she had her first Bubble Tea. The online ordering platform BeyondMenu was not one I had ever heard of, so had a bit of hesitation. But everything worked just fine. I went here based on the reviews. 4.6 stars at the time I am writing this. Either this is inflated by employees or the local population really needs to get out more. For starters Lo Mein is a specific type of noodle. What I got was not Lo Mein it was SPAGHETTI. More like (Lie Mein) because they are liars to call it something it is not. Second I have had General Tso's chicken from coast to coast and this was the least General Tso I have ever had. While I expect some variation this wasn't even close. Egg roll was massive and delicious and cream puffs were filled with cream cheese and cooked to perfection. I would pass on the lemon chicken (too much breading and lemon sauce was blah), and the sesame chicken was rather flavorless. This was not a good experience. I ordered beef pho but they were out of beef so I settled for chicken. The noodles were kind of hard and the broth lacked flavor. I also ordered fried pot stickers, one side of them was soggy and the other side was burnt and tasted terrible. It was not very friendly customer service either. So - it's our fav spot for take out in Stillwater. It's the best option around. We love it. The thing that sucks is this, when you call to place your order, they say 20 minutes. When you walk in 20 minutes after calling, they check who you are......and my suspicion is THAT is when the cooking commences. We consistently wait 20+ minutes when we arrive. This has become a Rock Paper Scissors game with my wife and I....loser has to pick up, and sit and wait. Food is top notch! Love it! Waiting is a bummer. One of the better takeout places I've been to in the midwest. Garlic chicken was good. Egg roll was more deep fried than I'm used to but it was good.
