I recently visited Duc's Vietnamese Restaurant, and while some people may focus on the obvious reasons it's popular, I'd like to highlight the truly important details. First, the location is outstanding. It's close to my house, which significantly reduces my daily mileage and increases my overall happiness. Even better, it's conveniently close to my favorite gas station, creating a perfect ecosystem where I can refuel both my vehicle and my sense of purpose in a single trip. The parking lot deserves special recognition. It was astonishingly clean. Not "pretty clean for a parking lot" clean. More like "someone is clearly taking personal pride in every square foot of asphalt" clean. There wasn't a single abandoned shopping cart, mystery stain, or windblown fast-food wrapper in sight. The building itself was easy to find, the entrance was clearly marked, and the doors performed flawlessly. That's the kind of reliability that builds trust. Inside, everything was spotless. The tables were level. The chairs appeared structurally committed to their jobs. The lighting was bright enough to see what I was doing but not so bright that I felt like I was being interrogated. Even the napkins seemed unusually motivated. Now we come to what may be the most underrated feature of Duc's: the restrooms. I make a "pit stop" every time I pick up my order, and I can confidently say these are among the finest restaurant restrooms I have encountered. They're always clean, well-maintained, and somehow manage to create a sense of calm and confidence. Many establishments view restrooms as an afterthought. Duc's treats them like a flagship product. At this point, I'm not entirely sure whether I'm picking up an order and using the restroom, or using the restroom and conveniently picking up an order while I'm there. The owner and his family are always friendly and professional. They don't chime my name upon entrance, but maybe in another 18 years. I was also impressed by several important but frequently overlooked details: the parking spaces were easy to navigate, the sidewalks were in excellent condition, and the overall atmosphere suggested that someone actually cares about the place. When it was time to leave, I exited the parking lot without a single awkward standoff with another driver. Traffic flowed smoothly, the weather cooperated, and my favorite gas station was still exactly where I left it. In summary, Duc's Vietnamese Restaurant excels at all the things only the best do: location, cleanliness, parking-lot excellence, dependable doors, quality sidewalks, and proximity to gasoline. If you're looking for the rudest restaurant customer service experience in Woodbury, visit this establishment. I was refused dine-in service at 6:42pm. After explaining that I caught an Uber and was visiting from out of town, the lady at counter simply stated, "The dine-in option is not available." I was visibly frustrated and upset. I asked if I could sit to order another Uber and she reluctantly let me sit in the dining room area. As a former resident of Woodbury, it was rough to experience this level of "Minnesota Nice." Seven years later I came back and I was in the area. I noticed the place and decided it was way too hot to cook or go out. It was very dark inside probably to keep it cooler. Basil got a chicken and veggies and an up grade of fried rice. Both were good. I got shrimp egg foo young and I like that you can get a single one. A nice square piece loaded with veggies. Get the sauce on the side so it doesn't get soggy travelling. I do this everywhere. Note that expression. We shared vegetarian egg rolls, again loaded especially fine carrots. Not loaded with filler, something in every bite and crispy as hell. A nice surprise. I got to chatting with Katan, a very cool guy. Pretty good! Would go back. The owners seem very nice. The design is nice and relaxing too. However, the restrooms could use a face lift and some hot water. The water was literally ice cold when washing my hands. We went for lunch on a weekend. Ended up ordering a lot of apps. Golden Fried Chicken Wings - these were good but nothing too special. I liked dipping them in sweet and sour sauce. Probably wouldn't get again unless I really wanted wings for some reason. Pot Stickers - also good! But again, nothing super special. The sauce was amazing though, wish it came with more. Would maybe get again. Crispy Chicken Egg Rolls - freaking fantastic. One of the best egg rolls ever. Give me two dozen of these for my entire meal please... Sautéed Deep Fried Potatoes - this was my main meal and it was good, but yet again, nothing super special. I wish there would have been a little more flavor. It was a great portion size, and the potatoes were the star of the show. I would get something else if I were to go back to Duc's. Kung Pao - my wife got the combo of this. It was actually quite good. Slightly spicy, if you don't like spice I would avoid. She seemed to really enjoy it. Cost -$85 with tax and tip. Yes we got 3 apps, but it felt a bit expensive. Also, we ordered water but got water bottles. Felt wasteful to use plastic and get charged. Would be nice if we just got water glass cups. Overall, I would go back but maybe not right away. I'm not inching to go back. But.... you should give Duc's a try. read more

Great option for the suburb though of course, is a bit catered to the suburban tastebud. My favorite dish is the Sautéed Deep Fried Potatoes with beef. The service is always friendly and location feels relaxed with a bit of trickling in business. I would love to stop by more often but I'd love to see a more "kid-friendly" menu for picky palates so that we can enjoy the place as a family. read more

The people who work here are so kind and personable, which is Honestly a large part of the stars. They clearly knew regulars, and were fast and attentive. It seemed to be a good place to go with friends- loud music, people laughing, lots of groups. The food: I specifically for the Pho, and was a bit disappointed. There were only two options, and it was under a different name. For drinks, they don't offer tap anything- you can only get bottled drinks. That was disappointing to me as it made it so I had to pay for any drink I got. The food was okay, there weren't any spicy peppers or chili oil with the pho. All in all, one bowl of beef pho, and a bottled lemonade ended up being around $22. I wouldn't go back for pho, but would be willing to try other dishes if I had the money and went with friends read more

Duc's is my go-to for takeout in Woodbury as they do not deliver, but I'm happy to share some photos from our experience dining-in. What we ordered: Cream cheese puffs - these are a favorite of mine. Delicious! I could not believe Duc's has been around for 29 years and this is the first time I've tried it. I ordered the Beef and Broccoli lunch special so it was a little over $13. The amount of food is generous. There was plenty of fried rice, big pieces of beef and lots of broccoli and vegetables. The 2 cream cheese puffs were crunchy and sweet. The whole lunch was great. I definitely had some leftovers. I will be back with my mini me to try more dishes but so far I'm impressed. read more

Second visit - 3 stars. I love Vietnamese food and the offerings at Duc's taste great. If you eat the Standard American Diet or if you're a Vegan, you won't have any problems, you'll have tons of meal options, and you'll probably enjoy this restaurant. LOW CARB: If you're a low-carb, keto, keto-vore, or carnivore style eater...you'll find that it's pretty hopeless trying to eat at Duc's. Everything is so incredibly plant based, you simply can't order any animal based food or enough meat (or eggs) to constitute a meal. I was hoping I could, at a minimum, get a couple orders of chicken skewers for my meal. But unfortunately, not here. There simply aren't any animal based choices. In fact, it was so bad, I stopped at a sushi joint on the way home and I ordered some sashimi because I was so hungry after meeting my friend at Duc's. In an effort to eat low-carb, I ordered hot sour soup and butterfly battered shrimp. The soup was good but it had some sort of thickener that I'm sure was something like corn starch. (The server couldn't tell me what the thickener was.) The soup was definitely a low-carb failure. The butterfly shrimp were 2/3 puffy sweet batter, deep fried in soybean oil. I picked the batter off and I was left with a small handful of wimpy shrimps. So the shrimp were a low-carb failure too. As a low-carb eater that has reversed all of my metabolic health issues with an animal-based diet, Duc's wasn't a good choice for me and I won't go back. No hate though. So I am incredibly disappointed in the broccoli beef. The beef was too thin and tough, but the sauce was awful. It was sweet. Broccoli beef should be savory. But not even a good sweet sauce. The hot and sour soup was ok but thicker than it should be. Based on this I would not try anything else. I cannot find a decent Broccoli beef dish here in Woodbury! read more

The wok-tossed Sesame Seed Sauce Dishes are fantastic (and I've tried them all) golden fried shrimp, chicken, pork, or even a combo -they all RULE. Those Crispy Chicken Egg Rolls are a dream come true. The Lemon Chicken and the Vegetable Egg Foo Young could win an award *(I'm not kidding)* The service and the chill vibes at this place is top notch. This place has great customer service and food. I ordered on door dash and requested something in the comments that they didn't have and they called me to make sure that was okay. The egg noodle soup with chicken wontons and vegetables has a nice, flavorful broth, chewy noodles, wontons and crisp veggies. I saved it and reheated it to have for breakfast the next day. The hot and spicy chicken is chopped dark meat with tender onions in a spicy sauce that has a kick without the linger. The sesame seed sauce with chicken comes with the sauce on the side, making it nice for reheating the leftovers. The sauce is sweet and flavorful but next time I'll remember to add spice to it to help balance it out. The fried rice is your standard with egg, bean sprouts and green onion. The white rice is fresh and warm. The deep fried potatoes are insanely delicious. Nice and crispy like a potato chip, sautéed in a great sauce that doesn't make a mess on your hands. I ordered spring rolls, lo mien, and beijing beef. To begin with this bad experience, the spring rolls came out the size of an enlarged pointer finger( really small for the price). Evenmore, the spring rolls tasted like the were made the night before. Going to the main course, the chicken lo mien was the cheapest version out there, but priced fairly high. Furthermore, the chicken was not seasoned at all and you could count the number of pieces on your hands. Lastly, the beijing beef was priced even higher. We didn't actually have any Vietnamese food but the kung pao chicken and chicken broccoli were fantastic. Great service, attention as soon as we walked through the door. Food was served promptly. 10/21/22: Overall 2.5 stars. For Minnesotahhhhh it's decent asian food. The pluses were friendly service & decent sized portions. The minuses were the food was a bit salty. Prices are west coast. The unacceptable is that THEY CHARGE FOR WATER. I've eaten in different states & international restaurants and have never been charged for water. They only offer bottled water. I read on reviews, so was prepared and brought my own water bottle. It's the principle of the matter. That's my tip to consumers. Bring your own water bottle. They don't say anything. No biggie. But to me, it's such a bizarre thing to do. What a way to make a negative impression. Because the service was decent & friendly, I was nice and rounded up to 3 stars. Stopped by to have lunch with a friend. The server was nice and social with all the guests. He gave us plenty of time to look over the menu before ordering. If you are in a time crunch, you may want to look at the menu ahead of time so you can place the order right away. I ordered the Szechuan Beef combination lunch special, which came with rice and eggroll. The tea comes in a cup, which may be refilled. If you want water, bottle water is the only option. Eggroll- At first sight, the eggroll was stuffed with mostly carrot filling. I wasn't sure what it would taste like. Looks can be deceiving, it tasted better than it look. From crispiness of the skin to the softness of the filling, dipped in the sweet and salty sauce; each bite was savory. Probably wouldn't order it separately unless it comes with the meal. Szechuan beef - the beef pieces were small, thinly cut. The veggies came in a large bite size shape. The dish was good to eat. Chili oil pepper - this was a nice addition to my dish. The food is bland and doesn't stand out. The vegetables are stale, probably suffering from what appeared to be pre-cut. The sauce is generic and tries to rely upon cuisine differentiation as opposed to trying to set itself apart from other Vietnamese. The service, however, was personal and warm. The waiter was attentive and informed me to next time order my dish without water chestnuts as he saw me set them aside (never been a huge fan). After surgery first meal and it was great. I had the Singapore noodles combo and extra veggies. We shared 2 orders of the shrimp spring rolls and I have to tell you there are non-better to be found here in the mid-west. There is an art/science to wrapping a good spring roll. the texture must allow you to "crunch" into the roll and enjoy the different layers of the roll. It's not a deep fried roll and the veggies have to be fresh to give you that "bite through" that is so important to the "mouth feel" of what you are eating. What a pleasure to have if you like fresh spring rolls. We ate there 2 more times over the weekend and took some take out on Sunday eve to my daughter over in Plymouth. They loved the food also and she is a picky Vegetarian, so that is saying a lot. Take the chance if you feel like a new adventure. I will be back anytime I am in the area. I love this little family restaurant. It's clean, cozy and the service is so friendly. I swear the owner knows most people by name and greets everyone with a friendly smile and brief chit chat. I almost always get the same thing and it's delicious. Rice noodle salad with grilled chicken and an egg roll. Comes with sauce for the egg roll that I then pour into the salad along with some chili pepper sauce. LOVE! Of note, water, soda, etc. are served from bottle and/or can. I've been meaning to try this place. I heard good things! Met a friend for lunch yesterday. Friendly place with attentive service. They were out of egg foo young but that's okay. I got an eggroll and sesame chicken. My friend got this amazing plate of what looked to be potato chips, slathered in sesame sauce. They were very good! I'll return to try that again, maybe with meat next time! My sesame chicken was fresh and hot, crispy, with delicious rice. It was so sweet, tasted like straight honey. I know that sesame chicken is sweet, but should have some spice and color rather than just honey. I'm wondering if they forgot the spice. Still it was delicious!
