Pho has constant taste which is ooookkkaayyy. It could be a lot better though. Spring rolls was not the greatest. Would I come here again, not really. My 3rd time here and it will be my last. Service is fine. No refills but speedy when ready to order

This spot was ok, I would say that I could get my pho somewhere else. The pho here taste like it has some lemon in it without me putting it in. The bun bo hue isnt as good as I thought it would be. The bun bo hue taste lemony as well. It might just be my taste bud. The chicken wing was basic, it's like I could make it at home. The banh mi sandwich has a weird sweet taste to it and it doesnt have a lot of meat, carrot, cilantro and jalapeños. I think the mayo was just too sweet. The service was quick and sitting was quick. Again the place food isnt bad , maybe Ill try something else if I come here again.

Tasty food but by far the worst customer service I've received from an authentic Vietnamese restaurant in some time. Probably ever. I believe my server was the owner's daughter. She was rude, never made eye contact, and would rush to leave the table while I was mid sentence. Never said thank you or asked how my meal was at any point. The actual food was quite good. The fried chicken wings have a really nice seasoning and were fried perfectly golden. The Bahn Mi's bread to filling ratio leaves something to be desired but was quite good. However, based on the customer service I will not return.

This is my family's trusty neighborhood go-to for take-out pho or other noodle soups. We haven't found a pho to rival Trieu Chau on University since moving from St. Paul proper, but the pho at A Chau is consistently very good, the service is fast, and the place is usually packed full of Asian folks when we pick up. The vibe is a neighborhood, family-run, place, so go inexpecting that ambiance, and you shouldn't be disappointed.

I came across this restaurant when my sisters and I were in the area and hungry. A quick search on Yelp recommended this place as one of the nearby options for pho. First time there, no one was there to greet or seat us right away. The place is filled with other patrons. We didn't wait long when a lady came out to seat us. I ordered the Large Pho Special. One of my sisters ordered the regular Pho Special and an order of eggrolls. The other sister ordered the Shrimp and Eggroll Vermicelli Salad. Our orders came out not too long after we ordered. I usually like to try my broth before I dig I to the pho. The broth was clear with a little cilantro and green onion. Upon the first sip, the broth had the right amount of seasoning. The noodle wasn't too soft or too hard. The meat selection included the beef and meatballs. I was in the area again and came back with my daughter. The second time I came back, the waitress came out to greet us and seat as right away. My daughter enjoyed the pho here as well. I wished I knew about this place when I lived closer to Maplewood. Definitely would come back again!

I have frequent to A Chau long enough so I thought I should share some of their foods, and what I think about the restaurant overall. They are a Vietnamese restaurant run by the family (I think). At least I can kind of tell there is a husband and wife and sometime they have younger teenagers who could be their children helping out. If you agree by observing the customers you could tell if their foods are authentic to their culture or not. I usually see most are Asian eating here. They have the most fancy menu for a Vietnamese restaurant in the Twin Cities! Award given. Here are my stars rating for the variety of foods they offer: 7/10 Pho 9/10 Bun Bo Hue (Hue Style Pho, Spicy) 8/10 Egg Noodles Soup 9/10 Pork Chop Rice Platter (my favorite) I like the way they serve the rice platter which comes with a soup on the side. Asian style!

Food was lackluster at best. Won't be back. Staff was unfriendly. Unattractive restaurant with not much to recommend it.

Broth is delicious and seafood is high quality. The pho noodles are wide and look appealing. The vegetables are fresh and nicely sliced.

It's was nice to come back after many years, and see that they are still here in the same spot…read more I spoke to the owner, and they have been in this same spot for 23 yrs! I ordered the pho, which was simply beef and meatballs. The broth was homemade, basically the same as what a Vietnamese friend made when they had our family over. Yes, you have to adjust the broth, if you're into pho. And yes, you have to ask for the fish sauce, and the sugar is in packets. The service is impeccable. The dining room is in order, without stacks of boxes in the hallway, and clean. There's plenty of parking. The bathrooms are clean. The owners treat you with kindness, a smile, and gratitude for your business. All these things count a lot nowadays. By the way, their homemade Tiramisu is out of sight! Warning - rant and support for local business: I was sad to read all the 1 star reviews. Most of it was for the blandness of the broth, and comparisons of this place to authentic spots in Frogtown, St. Paul. A little bit of history: they were here long before Maplewood Mall food court is now filled with Asian fare; even before Pho King showed up in the food court for those who remember. Back then, Vietnam Star was the only viable Asian option in these parts. By these parts I mean around Maplewood Mall and Costco. Here's the thing, the primary clientele here are Anglos, not Asians. In fact, today for lunch I was only 1 of 2 Asians in the dining room. So my expectations are adjusted accordingly. It is not in Frogtown, even though that's technically not that far away. But when you're shopping in Maplewood, Frogtown might as well be in Wayzata. So when I'm around here, I know the food in the mall maybe more to my taste. However, sometimes I don't want to sit in a big mall full of people, watching my back, pay a lot of money for small portions, and be treated like crap on top of it. Sometimes, I just want to go to a nice place, be treated like a human being, and sit down in a booth to have a big bowl of pho. So what if I have to adjust the broth? I'm in Maplewood for crying out loud. Let's all be fair and support local businesses that are trying to make it work.

The chairs and tables were the type you'd expect at a Vietnamese restaurant; iykyk. The guy was prompt and brought our menus which was pretty slim being a double sided landscaped. More a Chinese restaurant than Viet, but it did have a section for Bun and Pho. Entree: Kung Pao Chicken It was tasty, the brown sauce was fairly generic, but in a good way. Like you'd want the consistency in a neighborhood restaurant, but you wouldn't drive out your way to get it. The chicken could use a bit more quality control since there were some grizzly pieces, but not enough to ruin the meal. The vegetables had a good crunch and were expected in a kung pao dish; carrots, onion, celery, peanuts. The portion was generous enough for leftovers or one very hungry adult male.

I ordered food online from them recently (administered thru GrubHub) and when I went to pick it up, there was a sign saying they were closed due to a sudden family emergency. I sincerely hope all is well for them. However, I didn't receive any food on a $55 order. As it was over the weekend, my wife called on Monday asking for a refund as we had given them a decent amount of money for us, but received nothing in return. The person she spoke to told us there was no manager who had access to the GrubHub account, but took our information and promised to resolve it. No answer as of today (Thursday) so I stopped in in-person. I was initially offered a cash refund. Until the person on duty spoke to the manager by phone. He told her it was a GrubHub problem and they couldn't refund money on a credit card purchase. So that was it. thanks for the money, now go away, not our problem. I reached out to GrubHub by chat and was told they couldn't find my order and therefore, wouldn't be offering a refund either. (that's a whole other story.) GrubHub later called back and said, still no refund, but the merchant was willing to offer a 10% discount on my next order. Huh?! I just gave you $55 you refused to give me back for giving me nothing! there isn't going to BE a next order from me, and likely the remainder of my family. I realize it's two entirely different groups saying it's the other one's problem. but Ha Long Bay ALWAYS had the option of doing right by their customers, regardless of who was at fault technically. But they chose not to. And when I called Ha Long Bay 45 minutes before their stated close time to give them one more chance, it went to voice mail. So, I guess I'm looking for a new place for great Pho.
