Menu Sept 2023

This is an extremely small, local business that is a hidden gem. The food is outstanding. Some listings say either Vietnamese or Chinese ... but they do both - and do both well. Huge portions, very good food, and they're run by what I believe is a husband/wife team... and maybe no other staff. With that, they are currently takeout only, your phone conversation when you call will be brief, and they can get busy (they are very good about letting you know if they're busy enough that your food will take longer than usual)... but the food is 100% worth it. Don't look for a website. The phone number is 651-483-1239 and the menus are posted here on Yelp.

Was hoping to try this place at 7:00 p.m. on a Friday night and was greeted by a sign on the door that warned potential customers of a long wait due to an increased demand of take out orders. The restaurant was quite empty and there were only two parties sitting at tables. I was told it was going to be a 45 minute wait. I left as I was not interest in eating dinner at 8:00 p.m. They might want to consider hiring an adequate amount of staff to meet their business demands.

Beat Asian takeout in the area. Total hole in the wall but their portions for price are huge and all of the food is extremely tasty! I would definitely recommend getting takeout here for your next takeout night!

Maybe you have a PHObia of trying something new, but don't make the PHO-pas of passing up this place. Their Vietnamese noodle soup is PHOnominal. Definitely not PHOny at all. This grub is no PHOdder. This is the best PHOreign food I've ever had. I wanted to PHOne my mother and tell her how good it was. I took a picture of it and it was PHOtogenic. It was so much food, they took it to our table in a PHOrklift. I'd like to PHOrnicate with it, but that would probably be PHOrbiddin. I can't think of any more puns because my tummy is way too PHO.

I was in the area and was really in the mood for some phó so I decided to check this place out. When I first walked in I thought it was a little stretchy because of the hand written signs hanging from a thread on the back of a menu about seating yourself. As soon as I got past that someone greeted me and my friend and sat us down in the gazebo which was so pretty and you had to take a step up. I started with the meat wonton when I inquired and found out it was chicken. They reminded me of a soft of empanada and they were good but could have had more flavor as they were a little bland. They came 8 a order so the portions were really big. Afterwards I ordered my chicken phó and we also ordered vegetable lo mein, and sesame chicken extra spicy. The phò came in such a big bowl I barely made a dent in it because I was full. It was pretty good phó, although I felt it a little too sweet. The lo mein was my favorite part. The sauce was so good and the veggies in it were so delicious. Lastly, the sesame chicken extra spicy was soo good but way too mild and the chili oil was also very mild. Besides that it was huge portions and an overall good experience since the waitress was so nice and attentive.

I lived in the Houston and Garland Texas area all my life where there is a large vietnamese population... and for the past 5 months, I have just been exploring Minnesota and Wisconsin and Illinois for vietnamese food. This evening... I was just craving pho. lets start with the ambiance. Its a pretty hip place once you get inside. I do like the cultural blend of modern and old school, and you see it with the different type people that come in. The staff there was prompt, and unlike my old school favorite in Richardson Texas... the staff to customer ratio was high. So the service was quick and attentive. Now for the pho. I went with the Dac Biet because I never know sometimes if I will get tough precut preprocessed meats... not in this case. I felt that all the ingrediants were fresh...and catered toward the old school viet palette, which I thank you. I understand a lot of pho house have to stay in business and cater to the local palette but this one was spot on. You can just breath in the right mixture of ingrediants. The bowl was reasonably priced, and the portions were similar to what I am used to having in Houston. It was fantastic as I scarfed it down to quick and forgot to take a picture. However, all the pictures that I have seen associated with this location are accurate. Overall, I would come back here. I am interested in trying their Stone pho next time as th emenu advertisement made it look tasty.

Service staff was as expected for a busy day and we kept getting the wrong items sent out but they were nice and apologetic, it was just a busy day and had newer staff. Parking is limited, be sure to pay attention to where you're parking since certain spots are meant for businesses nearby. They have patio seating but I don't know if they actually provide food service outside. Bathrooms are currently out of service so they have two port-o-potties outside. It's a nice space and gets lots of natural sunlight, I do wish they had some tint or blinds though because we were seated next to a window and it was a bit blinding especially with the sun reflecting off the metal cups and laminated menus. I've heard great things about their food but for me it was a miss. We all had pho but the amount of herbs and fresh toppings wasn't sufficient for 6 phos. They were accommodating and gave us additional items we asked for. The calamari was on the greasier end and was bigger than expected. For my palate both the banh mi and pho were lacking in flavor. I put a lot of things into my pho but it just didn't taste like anything to me except for pho powder. The ribeye pho had a generous portion of broth but only like 5 slices of meat. The oxtail stone bowl pho one looked hot and didn't have enough space to add everything in without it overflowing while the other didn't look like the broth was hot enough to cook the noodles. I will say though their ordered drink cups and to-go containers game was top notch. I received a reusable bag with my two banh mis to go instead of a plastic bag. It's probably not somewhere I'd return to unless someone else absolutely had to have it but to each their own.

The staff and the chef are extremely kind and welcoming. You can tell a lot of thought and love go into the making of this food. The menu is quite a bit smaller than I expected when I first came, but everything on the menu is a smashing success. I've only heard good things about this restaurant and it definitely lives up to the name. I actually ended up recommending this spot to too many friends, coworkers, and family members, I also came here on Mother's Day with my parents and they absolutely loved it. As far as food, I have tried the cream cheese wontons, the chicken sandwich (popular), the sticky jicama ribs (insanely good), and the rice noodle salad dish. Everything has been sensational thus far. The chicken sandwich has a really nice herbaceous aïoli, the sticky jicama ribs are absolutely incredible especially for anyone that is vegan or vegetarian, there are no meat products in this dish, but the flavor and texture would convince you of otherwise. It's hard to explain so I'm just telling you right now that you HAVE to try the sticky jicama ribs. This is not a drill. If you end with the Thai tea tres leches, you won't be disappointed. It is a classic tres leches with a twist, the Thai tea isn't as strong as traditional but goes perfectly with the other tres leches components. The presentation is unreal! Truly impressed by this restaurant, I will continue to come here and support this local establishment. Chef Eric Pham is so awesome to talk to, wishing them nothing but success!

Our experience mirrored another review on here: great service, but the dishes were a miss…read more We couldn't finish the Crispy Pork Lettuce Wraps ($15). The menu describes "Vietnamese roast pork," but what arrived tasted deep fried rather than roasted -- tough, flavorless, with unrendered fat that was still solid. Given the "lettuce wraps" framing, I'd expected something closer to ground pork; instead it was fatty slices that didn't match the description I envisioned. The thin rice noodles underneath were fine but plain and unseasoned, with scallions scattered over the noodles. The chicken sandwich was extremely greasy, and the heavy-handed sauce turned it into a soggy mess -- the bun fell apart almost immediately. It reminded me of Blue Barn's Nashville hot chicken (from the State Fair), but executed poorly. Maybe we came on an off night? Worth flagging: both dishes are listed as entrées but came without sides, and the menu only offers three appetizers. Depending on what you're in the mood for, it's hard to build a full, filling meal.

Unfortunately, when we arrived around 6:45 pm, they were sold out. To me, this implies that the Banh Mi's are top notch so my goal is to return again at an earlier hour to snag one. There is a tiny parking lot which is nice otherwise I believe you will need to seek out street parking behind University. I don't know what to expect inside but I was surprised. The Bahn Mi has a little walk-up line similar to Subway where it's made on the spot. All other items can be ordered via table service. I got a passion fruit bubble tea smoothie with tapioca pearls to start and my friend and I both opted for pho since our planned menu item was sold out. Pho comes out almost immediately which is nice especially if you have places to be. It was fresh, hot, and came with the toppings on the side to add as you please. I'll definitely return! 4 stars due to the main item being sold out and really good pho but not outstanding blow me away good. Additionally, there are plastic spoons for pho and I was hoping for a regular utensil. Lastly, the waiter was really quick to ask us what we wanted to eat without much time to explore the menu.
