This is one of my family's favorite places to go. Of all the Mongolian BBQ places available, I would say they are the most consistent. The sauces, meats and other ingredients are always good. The rest of the buffet checks the typical Chinese buffet items, cheese wontons, sweet and sour soup, fried fish, dumplings, etc. The chicken wings are pretty good for a buffet. The service is always good, they usually remember our drink orders and are on top of filling the drinks while taking the used plates. The space is large, so you're not feeling too crushed in. I also love the music, as it has a good variety of Asian music that I usually listen to. read more

This is a standard Chinese buffet. The staff was friendly, the price was midrange, and drinks are included with your buffet. The only downside is the buffet isn't very big, so there aren't a lot of entree choices. But what they did offer were tasty and the crab Rangoons were good. read more

We've been visiting Mongolian BBQ since I was a kid. This has always been a fun spot where each member of the family could find exactly what they wanted between the buffet and build your own stir fry. The stir fry is the best part of the set up. You get to pick the ingredients as well as the sauces. They make it right in front of you, and you get to enjoy back at your table. They provide recommendations for the sauces, but it's ultimately your decision. This is all you can eat as well, so you can try different combinations throughout the meal. Unfortunately, the buffet itself wasn't particularly fresh although we visited on a Saturday. Overall, it filled us up but we weren't as satisfied as we remember being. read more

Each year we go out to eat at an Asian restaurant to celebrate New Year's Day. This year, we chose the Mongolian BBQ. There is an extensive buffet with multiple stations - so many choices! The custom-cooked section had a great variety of meats, vegetables, and seasonings. The chef perfectly cooked the items I selected. The only thing that was challenging was that we picked a booth near the door and the cold breeze was a bit jarring every time someone left. This was my first trip for lunch to the Mongolian grill. As I entered the establishment I was greated by aromas of meat with a hint of peanuts and garlic. The place was packed so that's a good sign the food was good. I started off with the buffet that had something for everyone then after a few items I went to the grill and loaded up my bowl. The cook was extremely good and the food came out just right. It was a an event just watching the grill chef work and the seasoning was good that was added and he made sure to add enough sauce so the meat was not dry. The price isn't bad for a buffet and they stress on the least amount of food waste to help costs, which is completely valid. They had pretty good options for different foods to pick and a grill areas to make your own bowl to be cooked right in front of you. Definitely good for a chill quick eats while in town. I've tried all the different "bbq grill" type restaurants across this nation and Mongolian in Stillwater is the best. Always very fresh ingredients, especially up at the grill. It is "do it yourself" style so there isn't any predetermined recipes or other people mixing your plate. It is all up to you. The buffet is loaded up with several good options as well. Big salad bar and fruit/dessert options. The owner/manager regularly stop by the tables to chat with customers and is such a great guy, has great stories too. read more

I don't understand the 3.5 star rating this restaurant gets. I think the food is quite good. The buffet of cooked foods is very large and varied with a very large number of choices. Fresh-cooked food is constantly being brought out, there are vegetarian choices as well as dishes with seafood, beef, chicken, and pork. They use a lot of fresh vegetables in their many varied stir fry dishes. They also have a big salad bar, and they also have a large bar where you assemble veggies and various thin cut meats and sauces to have the chef cook them on the Mongolian grill. One hint: add lots of sauce so your grill dish will come out juicy. If all that wasn't enough, they have a self serve soft serve station, a dessert bar, fresh cut up fruit, and non-alcoholic drinks are included. Ambience and service are good. Casual but nice. To top it off, the all inclusive price is very very reasonable. I heartily recommend it. read more

Nice buffet selection. Large variety of fresh fruits, salads, sushi, appetizers, main dishes, sides and they have the build your own dish they cook right in front of you. Quality of food is pretty good. Large variety. On this visit the dumplings were cold and the sushi was dried out so I gave it 4 stars. I actually didn't even eat my sushi because it had a strong fish odor that was not appetizing. The fruit was perfect. I would defiantly go back. It may have been an off night for some of the dishes. It's incredibly muggy and hot so it may be throwing off some dishes. The ice cream machine is always a must! And it always works! Grabbing a twist cone for the drive home is a must. read more

They have beef, pork, 2 chicken meats (light and dark), in addition to tons of fresh veggies and ladles with sauces and oils. Yum! BUFFET They have a big buffet area in back. The food is about what you expect from a standard Chinese buffet...lots of overcooked mediocre stuff. But...there's a HUGE variety of it. They have a soft serve ice cream area too. You're sure to find something you like. There's so much of it, so much variety, and so cheap - it's really hard to complain about anything. DISLIKE The only thing I really disliked was the sushi. They only had a few varieties and it's was pretty bad. I'd say they should either upgrade this area or just skip it altogether. As it stands, it's subpar. PRICE Even though the food isn't 5 stars, you can't beat the prices. The lunch buffet was a mere $11.48 including beverages and tax. That's less than a McDonald's #1 Big Mac Meal. A friend recommended this place; so we came here for the lunch buffet. Offer course the best time to go is 11am when they open, when the food is all freshly made. Its your typical chinese buffet all the regular fixings... along with the Mongolian grill. I usual dont participate in the mongolian grill because i never make anything good or as good what they already have for stirfry.... which is wierd because thats the name of the place. Their mongolian grill selection looked great and all of the meats, veggies, and sauces where plenteyful and look to be of good quality. The mongolian grill had a line that was constant and people seemed to be enjoying theirselves. I have been here before but it had been years. The food was okay I didn't find anything I loved but they did have lots of selections including crab legs, chicken wings, sushi (all made with imitation crab), a salad bar, dessert bar, make your own stir fry and many many more items. I did like how much I saw the staff attending to the food making sure they were making new and mixing them keeping the items as fresh as possible. This doesn't always happen at buffets so that was nice. They were also really attentive with making sure our old plates were taking away and we always had our drinks full. Lastly, when we were leaving it was getting towards the end of the night so we saw their cleaning process which they totally turn the booths inside out and clean everywhere which was also really nice to see. Overall I don't have to go back but I was happy to see how well they were cleaning the restaurant and how well they tended to the buffet. read more

This is the best eating venue anywhere. First, the price is very reasonable. Even if you compared with Perkins, Applebees, Olive Garden etc. The food is delicious and the offerings are exceptionally numerous. The salad bar is huge as is the desert bar. Their soft-serve ice cream is very cold and tasty. The place is always clean and the staff is well trained and courteous. No extra charges for the Woc, the drink or desert - all for $12.87 at noon! My family and I came here for Easter lunch. I have been here before, but was even more impressed today, especially with how busy it was. No reservations were needed, and they were very kind. The food was phenomenal. Everything was very fresh, hot, and just came out. The food was also in abundance. Waiters and waitresses we're busy, but not too busy where it takes them forever to come to you. They were on top of their duties, polite, and very thorough. I've been to numerous restaurants in the area and while I've no complaints against any, there's something about Buffet City that's above the others regarding food quality and price. The BBQ section's ingredients are varied and flavorful, allowing for much variety and creativity for a do-it-yourself dish, which they cook in front of you. Definitely add my voice to the others about the consistency of fresh vegetables!! The pre-made dishes are also sumptuous and perfectly prepared with the tender meats and crisp vegetables. Lunch and dinner have different options, though I remember when they added the sushi to the lunch menu. The restrooms have always been clean. This place brings me back to the days of high school at Chaminade-Madonna. There is where Chef Dane would produce for us this masterpiece one or two times throughout the school year. This was the type of day that the sub line saw very little action for sure. I like my Mongolian BBQ with a lot of crunchy veggies. Pea pods, baby corn, carrots, onions, broccoli, and water chestnuts. I could eat about 3 bowls of this stuff. I like to add all the meats to it as well. This particular place has re-invigorated my love for the stuff. Clean and friendly. Food is great! A MUST GO if in the Eastern Minnesota/Western Wisconsin area. Come hungry! All you can eat style buffet. The Mongolian BBQ is excellent the Buffet is so so. They are slow to bring out fresh food and when they do they mix the old with fresh rather than throwing it out. I have sent them letters with my complaints but get no response. On Sundays and evenings you pay more because they have crab legs but you wait and wait for them to bring them out. This place has a huge buffet, with pretty standard fare. If my review were based on the buffet alone, I'd give it three stars, not four. Because the buffet has pretty average, slightly goopy American-Chinese dishes like General Tso's Chicken and Beef Broccoli. Good salad bar with fresh fruits and vegetables. Desserts are mass-produced and not very flavorful, but there's a soft serve ice cream dispenser with toppings to save the day. The real reason to go to Buffet City is the Mongolian BBQ. Great selection of good ingredients, really fresh, and plenty of tasty seasonings. Be cautious about hitting the BBQ on Sunday evenings, however, as their grill is small. They can only cook one portion at a time, and the wait can be long. Note: Sunday evening the buffet is pricier and includes seafood. Good, cheerful service by young people fresh from the Mainland.
