I grew up with mall Mongolian BBQ, so this brought back nostalgia and I also think it's delicious, so it's a win win You grab a bowl, fill it up as much as you can and then they add the noodles to the grill and your desired sauce. What I like about this place is that they add the noodles after you give them the bowl, previously at great khan's you had to be mindful of how much you can add to your bowl so that you would have room for the noodles The sauces could be better, but I like to add a bit of everything and it ends up tasting great anyways. If you want more umami, then add some soy sauce at the end. My trick is to try to flatten the frozen meat down to as much as I can with a napkin so that I have more room for other items. I try to flatten and get as much meat so that I can really fill that baby up LOL. I remember going to a Mongolian BBQ place long ago in the east side San Jose - it was one of my favorite places to eat, and it was a treat watching the cooks do there thing around the flat top grill. Alas, they died down after a decade or so, and they all disappeared! I am happy to see one here at Valley Fair! The same process exists - you get a single bowl on a serving tray, then you decide the ingredients. First is the meats. There are four different meats from which to choose - pork, chicken, beef brisket and pork belly, any combination. From there the next stop is the veggie station, which has an abundance of offerings. The third station has more toppings, such as mushrooms, scallions, etc., as well as your sauces and oils. From this point, the cook takes your bowl and asks your preference of sauces and oils, and then proceeds to the flat grill to cook your selection of ingredients, as well as adding the thick, chewy noodles! In about another minute, the piping hot food is solid into a container, and you are ready to eat some delicious food! I really missed Mongolian BBQ, and I eagerly skipped it all down, as I strode down memory lane again. However, there are a couple of points that need to be mentioned here. For those with food allergies, I do not recommend eating here, as the flat grill is a shared tool, which means that even though one person chose ingredients that are non-allergenic, others before may have chosen allergens. Thus there may be some cross contamination of those allergens. Secondly, the amount of sauce that only the chef applies may be to your liking, not enough or too much. If you are salt sensitive, I suggest requesting less sauce. But other than that, this is a delicious and probably a healthy place to enjoy some nice, hot and tasty food here in the food court at Valley Fair! read more

I've never been to this one before, but I have been to something similar at another shopping mall in Southern California multiple times and remembered I loved it because we would get a decent amount of food and the meal could very well be saved for a second meal later. You receive a bowl and a tray where you can choose what you want to fill it with. There are various kind of protein (chicken, pork, beef, tofu, etc.), veggies (beansprouts, green onions, mushrooms, onions, zucchini, jalapeños, etc.), sauces, and then the noodles at the end - its so fun to watch your food being cooked on the large circular top. There might be a line, but the wait is never excruciating, and the end result is always yum. There could have been cleaner areas in terms of fallen food or less sticky trays, but I tried to not let that bother me. read more

Mong q is a great spot in the mall and I'm glad I tried it. There's lots of options for veggies and things to add in your bowl. They cook the noodles in front of you, and thoroughly cleaned the cooking surface before cooking my noodles since I'm a vegetarian which was nice. It takes about 5 minutes to cook your food. The noodles were perfectly cooked and everything I added to the bowl tasted amazing too. The baby corns were my favorite addition. The flavors of the sauce tasted great together and I'd definitely eat here again. read more

WORST customer service ever! Long story short, the two cooks that were stir- frying did not keep track of which foods belonged to which customers and handed our finished cooked noodles to the wrong person in front of us! We immediately told the cook that that was our food that he just handed to the wrong person (who took off with the food immediately.) The two cooks ignored us and shook their heads at us as if WE were in the wrong!! The two dishes that they were still frying belonged to the two people behind us which proved that our food was given away to the wrong person!! The third worker who had rung us up at the register didn't really believe us either and instead of apologizing or offering any sort of compensation, he retorted, "Well what do you want us to do? Do you just wanna make another bowl?" As if WE, the paying customer, is in the wrong! We then had to stand in line again, behind many other customers and make our bowl again. Again no apologies from any of the workers, didn't ask customers to let us go to the front of the line to "remake" our bowl, and no compensation - refunding money, discount, future coupon, free drink, NOTHING! Hope the manager sees this review and trains their workers in customer service! So beware if you go. Keep an eye on the food that you paid for because the workers sure don't and on top of that they don't care if they make a mistake. read more

4 stars for it being mall food court cuisine, but personally wouldn't make a special trip for it. Takes the place of the vegan thai place that was in the 2nd floor main food court I like the concept- you order a regular or large bowl, and you add in whatever fits in your bowl, and they stir fry it in front of you. The meat is frozen and rolled up like at hot pot with chicken and beef options - they really do shrink up when stir fried, so get more than you think you need! Also plenty of vegetables and tofu to add in as well. You can then either get noodles or rice as your place. The noodles are stir fried with your bowl ingredients, but they just lop on your bowl on top of white rice. Not sure why not just stir fry the rice as well, which would be a bit better. 6 different sauces you can add on before stir frying- ie garlic, lemon juice, mongolian sauce. I only did the mongolian and the garlic and thought it was a bit spicy (I prefer zero spiciness...) while my husband did all 6 sauces and thought it was all too bland for him to ever want to go back. hahah there's also dubai chocolate strawberry thing for dessert. Located on the second floor food court between Sarku and Koja. They offer two portion sizes, regular or large (with a $2 difference). You'll start by receiving a tray with an empty bowl, then head through the buffet line where you can pile on as much meat and veggies as you'd like. At the next station, a staff member will help you add toppings, sauces, and seasonings; just let them know how much or how little you want. After paying, your bowl is handed off to the final station, where your ingredients are cooked on a large, sizzling hot plate along with noodles. Also, it's nice that they clear off the sizzling plate by scraping it off between certain amount of meals so you don't get that burnt taste or bits in your meal. Was excited to get a Mongolian place since there isn't anything local thats any good. Well add this to the not good list. 1st there are like 5 sauces. Korean BBQ, Mongolian, lemon pepper (water) and garlic I think soy.. Mongolian should have 10 to 12 individual sauces that you can add to your liking. Nope. Anyway on to the flat top. The person working the grill had NO idea what he was doing. He throws your veggies on and they just sit there getting over cooked. Then he adds some noodles from a bag and dumps "bbq" water all over it. There's so much salt that I'm looking at my swollen ankles and thinking definitely not worth it. It was not good. It wast worth the 20 bucks. No fountain soda only cans...Skip it all together and get something else. This place will not last long, I'll give it a yr. Disappointed. read more

It was a bit disappointing that they didn't have any lamb, imitation crab, or any kind of seafood. I filled up my bowl with meat and veggies. The worker added Mongolian sauce, chili oil, and garlic for me. The cook added the noodles. This is different from other Mongolian BBQ locations that let you pile up the noodles. Yummy food! I thought the noodles wouldn't be seasoned enough with just one ladle of Mongolian sauce, but when I got the food, it's perfect! My only complaints are the bowl sizes and the price. The bowls are ramen bowls shaped like a u. So you cannot put a lot of meats or veggies. I just focused on added a lot of meat and then small amounts of veggies. Lol It kept on spilling onto the tray. I still had the guy cook what was on the tray. The large bowl isn't that much bigger. Lol It must have been a 2 ounce difference, but that doesn't matter since it isn't soup. When I was grabbing my ingredients to out it into my bowl some of the stuff rolled off my bowl onto the tray when I got to the cooking part iasked the cook if I can throw the rest on the grill.... Requested for regular bowl at $14.99 a pop. Bowl was short and narrow that you couldn't really fit that many food items on it without spilling over. Don't like that they pour the sauces for you instead of doing it for yourself thus preventing customers from saucing it up to their own personal taste. Line goes way too slow because the grill they use is so small that it can only accommodate four dishes at a time. It felt like I was in line waiting for the subway to arrive. Lol. Requested for rice instead of noodles and was given only about half a scoop which in the end matched the tiny amount of ingredients that had been cooked from the regular bowl. New Mongolian BBQ at Valley Fair after so many years. New place looks nice, clean, and modern. Service was great. Meat quality would be the highlight of my meal. Veggies were fresh. Sauces were good but not too many to choose from. The part that I didn't necessarily like was how little noodles I got. The ratio was about 60/40 (meat and toppings/noodles). We got the Large bowl because it looked delicious. Also the selection was decent. So at the end of all the ingredients, there's someone who will ask you if you want garlic, spicy and either Mongolian or Korean BBQ sauce. She put one small ladle of sauce, so I asked for more. You then pay and line up for your food to cook. Well now, they pour water on your food to help with the cooking and food falls off while they are mixing it. So by the time we got our food, it did not have any taste and a lot of the meat are gone because they got burnt and stuck at the big cooking pan. I got 20 pcs of meat and ended up with 7. I went back to pour more sauce but it did not do anything so I ate some and threw the rest. read more
