Great atmosphere , great service- but disappointed with the 45 day wagyu Ribeye- chewy. Not my idea of a tasty Omaha steak.

We sat in the lounge area. Nice chill music and relaxing atmosphere. Premium drinks and amazing food. Highly recommend for a low-key date night. The food menu is small but a lot of great options and everything is high quality. We're definitely coming back. read more

Amazing brunch. The truffle omlete may be the best omlete I've ever had. It had a perfect balance of flavors, a repeated theme with the other dishes I tried here, especially the delicious Waygu benedict. Highly recommended! read more

This is an impressive restaurant. The manager has put tons of work and attention to detail into every aspect of the food, decor, drinks and everything else. This is the first restaurant I've been to in Omaha that is similar to a fancy New York style fine dining establishment. If you're there for breakfast or when it's not busy, talk to the manager Josh and listen to everything that goes into creating the menu and pairings and especially their signature dry aged steak. read more

UPDATE: We received an apology via email and invited back by manager a week later on 1 Sep 18. We had an entirely different experience with excellent food and service that included great drinks, appetizer, entree and dessert. One of the very few places I would recommend a second chance. The restaurant was far less busy and the wait staff was much friendlier and accomodating. We will go back again. On 25 Aug 18, we were guests at the hotel and made reservations for dinner. It had been a couple months since we had dined here and they modified their menu. Waited 40 minutes for a waiter to take our order and when I ordered the lamb I was told they were out. I then asked if they had gotten rid of the monarch burger since it was not on the menu anymore and was told it was on the lounge menu now and that I could not get it in dining room. Waiter had an obvious negative attitude. Staff made us move after already waiting from the dining room to the lounge (50 feet away) and the waitress there ignored us for another 40 minutes before we left. Almost an hour and a half and no service/food plus all the other restaurants close by were now fully booked. Absolutely terrible service ruined our night in the hotel and plans for a birthday dinner. read more

Waiter was blunt. Sides were either too salty or too oily. Broccolini was not fresh at all. You could see the decay in the middle of the stalks and the yellowish green color that the vegetable should not have. If you couldn't tell by first glance, you could taste the sourness of the broccolini. The black bits in the pommes puree are salt flakes. The mushrooms were cooked with bacon fat. The 45 day aged wagyu ribeye did not come close to expectations. Service: 2/5 Food: 2/5 Ambiance: 3/5 read more

An exquisite taste in modern metropolitan fine dining, with a Midwestern twist and an Art Deco flair, this just might be the best steakhouse and one of the best restaurants in all of Omaha, if not on a grander scale. Last night we made dinner reservations, and we relished in every moment of our culinary journey. Starting with custom-made cocktails and that perfect touch of class, we enjoyed the seasonal bread and butter (rhubarb and a croissant-like bread, perfect!). Our party enjoyed the crown Caesar (made with the authentic anchovy sauce) and its form was flawlessly functional, yet memorable (think an actual crown!) and the vichyssoise was my very first, and a real delight (cold soup, who knew!). Finally, the entrees were breathtaking. Potatoes that were the perfect consistency, with a dill finish that brings out the most perfect combination of flavors, asparagus with a delightful sauce, and each of us had a different cut of steak, all with mouthwatering bliss and a desire to return on our lips. The bill is one to prepare for, but is easily matched by the style, finesse, and sheer prowess with which every piece of our meal was prepared; we will return! And return we did! This morning for brunch in fact! And oh, what a treat! We started with perhaps the most perfectly balanced, savory Bloody Mary that we each had ever had. The members of my party who had the burger quietly wolfed it all down, agreeing that it was wonderful, and Josh (our bartender and server) informed us that each was made with meat of their finest cuts. My partner had the omelette, and it was delicately exquisite and delightfully scrumptious. Finally, I had the prime rib with eggs, potatoes, and pancakes. Not only were the eggs done the way I asked, but the medallion potatoes (again with the dill and a light dusting of cheese) were perfect. The prime rib itself was the best I've had with eggs, ever; perfectly tender and flavorful. Finally, the pancakes? What a treat to end my meal! Plus, we were seeing Wicked across the street at The Orpheum, so it was conveniently located for our needs. I have a review for the Hotel Deco itself, as we stayed the night there as well, and you'll have to check it out for my glowing review of the fabulous Art Deco design and lavish accommodations. Needless to say it was a 5 Star stay through and through, and I hope to be back very soon. Cheers, and happy travels! read more

Too pricey for what it's worth. They serve drinks without asking for more. Meat is not served as you ask for it. I ordered a medium rare sirloin and they served it medium well. Asparagus were so chewy. Not a nice experience. read more

I'm extremely overwhelmed with love for the interiors but extremely underwhelmed by the food. We tried several different items from the entire menu and everything was just ok. I went to the restaurant knowing it was going to be a pricey dinner however, paying that kind of money for OK food is not how I'd like to spend my money. And our server; even though very friendly and on top of things he was extremely focused on the up sale. Even using tricky pitches that made it seem as if items came together when in fact everything was a la carte. I guess I'm to blame for not catching on but i walked away from my experience angry. And no one likes to be angry. The only time I'll be back is for drinks. read more

There wasn't a single bite of this meal that wasn't good. We started with the onion dip which was made with a fluffy cream that as out of this world. I had the short rib meatloaf and my husband had the filet. We had the whipped mashed potatoes which had nary a lump. My goodness both were so good. We ended with the smore's dessert. The candied hazelnuts were dreamy. I had a fizzy gin drink made with egg whites. read more

Monarch was a truly exceptional experience. From the moment you walk in past the gorgeous bar and through the beautiful dining room, you know this place is something special. We went with some friends and felt very comfortable with a higher end dining experience that didn't feel stuffy. We sampled about half of the menu and were all blown away by the quality of the food. What took our experience to the next level was the service of our server and the entire wait staff, including a sommelier. They coursed the menu for us, suggested cocktails and paired wine beautifully. The staff was quick to remove finished dishes without feeling like we were rushed. It was a beautifully orchestrated experience that we will for sure be back for, and is something we are excited to have in Omaha and will want to show off to out of town friends. This is a gem that you don't want to miss out on. read more

Good food. Terrible service. And they weren't busy. Not worth it, better options in this category. Won't be going back. Update. I contacted the restaurant manager sharing our experience for our special dining occasion. No response. And some friends went a few months ago as well. Same thing. Average food that's very overpriced and incredibly slow service. I always give places another chance if we experienced bad service, etc. although it doesn't happen very often. But going to pass here. Since No response to my message and there are far better options nearby. They'll be fine to out of towners who don't know any better. Locals know there's better options within about a block or two of this place. read more

Ate on opening night and our party of 4 all loved our food. The Waygu prime rib will haunt your dreams. Service was impeccable all in an atmosphere that is much more modern and interesting than your typical steakhouse. I think Omaha has a new "best steakhouse" in town. read more

This was my dream lunch. My friend and I had been talking about having one, great steak in Omaha. We planned to clamber over to one of the old timey classics but found we were too late for lunch so we tried Monarch in th Hotel Deco. It wad perfect. Great, creative, delicious: drinks, salads, steaks, and service. Fabulous. Unless one is vegan, it is not possible to visit Omaha without having one steak. Usually they are delicious in Omaha but too big or just too much. The Monarch was just right. Not too big. Not too plain. Just right! read more

Everything about this was amazing. It was so good that we came back for lunch the next day. The value cannot be beat and the chef is a genius. I've eaten 2 Michelin star food and the best restaurants all over the world and this quality is extremely high. The decor and silverware and plating has all also been carefully thought out. I'll be eating here again every time I'm in town. I wrote on open table too read more

Worst service ever and most of the food was terrible. One person in our party arrived ten minutes after us and he never did ask her what she wanted to drink. He didn't bring bread with the cheese plate and we had to chase him down twice to remind him we needed bread. The salami was old and made us gag. The halibut was slimy and fishy. The salmon was dry. My steak was cold. The burger was good-at least one person out of the four of us had good food. I got out of my seat several times to chase him down to ask for refills on drinks, the bread, and salt - because he never once checked on us. Overall a horrible experience with an out of town guest. Don't eat there. Oh and after we paid, we talked to the manager on the way out to give this feedback and he said " oh really we've never heard that before." So disingenuous because we were looking around and everyone in our vicinity who is being served by the same waiter was having the same experience. He was not attentive to anyone. Not to mention the fact that it's freezing in there! Again save your money and go somewhere else. Omaha had plenty of good restaurants. read more

Third time aT Monarch Prime and it has been a gradual slide from a strong 3* to 1. My wife surprised me with a reservation for New Years Eve for dinner. When we arrived for our 7:30 reservation, we were seated and waited 15 minutes to be acknowledged and once we were, we were notified that they were only serving a 20+ course tasting prix fixe menu for $240 per person! No a la carte options. Just a ~$500 option for two (without tip OR drinks). None of this was communicated with the reservation or after the reservation via call or email. We refused since that was an unacceptable use of money or time. So we were guided to the "lounge" which is a small bar area in the Hotel Deco lobby. We waited there for 30 minutes before the waitress let us know that they were too busy for table service and we had to order at the bar (same waitress that had served the four tables around us for the 30 minutes we sat staring at her). When we finally ordered the ridiculously over priced burger, salad and risotto we waited another 30 minutes. Meanwhile we watched as 4 other parties exited Monarch for the same reason as us. Once the food arrived, the burger was raw, bleeding and just gross after my wife made it clear that she needed it to be medium well for dietary reasons. My risotto was a joke. It was lobster and clam broth with uncooked rice floating in it. We complained (perhaps too vehemently) to the waitress, paid our bill and left. I felt badly for the waitstaff as they were obviously working hard on NYE and were put in a very bad situation by the kitchen and management, so we tipped well. TL/DR: Disgusting food. Worse service. Bait and switch tactics on reservation. Never going back, and for someone that does business dinners 90x a year will advice my colleagues against as well. Wilson and Washburn a block away was an infinitely better experience. read more

Literally the best piece of meat I think I've had in my entire life. The 45 day dry aged Wagu prime rib was ridiculous. Everything we ate was above par. I would highly highly highly recommend this restaurant not only for the atmosphere but for the best steaks in Omaha Nebraska which is really saying something read more

We tried the restaurant with the Fox 42 Dinner Tour Card. We received one dinner roll for $5 extra to share among 4 people. We received 1 head of lettuce quartered with weird dressings for 4 people. I think 4 people actually shared one steak since we each received two slices of the famed beef. The bottle of wine was over $50 dollars. Sometimes people mistake snobby indifference for quality and this was anything but. Not going back. Those are facts like them or not. read more

Great food. Great wine. Will be back for sure. Special thanks to Ryan for the wine recommendations!

The atmosphere here is cozy and cool, from the dark and sexy lounge music to the perfect lighting. All of the meats were tender and mouthwatering, but the duck was my clear favorite. It's simultaneously crisp and juicy--I highly recommend you try it! read more

We went to try Monarch for the first time because they were participating in Omaha's restaurant week and had received a good referral from a friend. I would say we had high hopes that this would be a good meal/experience but were unfortunately disappointed. The disappointment was a mix from service and food. First, we had to ask for the restaurant week menu as it was not automatically given to us, which I thought was odd but no big deal. We started with a few drinks and the tartar appetizer...it was ok, not bad not great. We then ordered a salad to share and entrees. The wedge salad with lamb bacon sounded great and it was nice of them to split it for us (so I ithought until I saw they charged $4 to split and never mentioned that making a $12 not very good salad $16). As I said it sounded like it would be great but my fiance and myself could barely finish it because of how intensely salty it was - I am a salty fan but this salad was way too much. When ordering the entrees I always like to ask the server their opinion - who knows better than them right? Well wrong, I asked how the striped bass is and received a "nice" from our server, my fiance was deciding between two entrees and asked what their preference was - he responded well this one is newer to the menu so I guess that one....um ok. Well oh well maybe they will be "nice". The striped bass had a very crunchy skin which was the best part and the pork shoulder was ok. Again just alright nothing to write home about. During our entrees I asked to see the wine list again and had to wait until the hostess dropped off my fiance's drink to order since our server did not return for my order. Upon receiving our check the $4 split charge really put me over the top....I just can't recommend Monarch to anyone unfortunately. Sometimes if service is bad the food can make up for it and vice versa but they just snowballed on eachother to make it a very underwhelming experience. read more

Visited Monarch Prime & Bar for the first time Friday. Had a wonderful experience. Between the 4 of us, we tried quite a bit of what was on the menu and everything was delicious - especially the soup and the burger. Clean plates all around. So unfortunate this was our first experience at Monarch. Our server was ready to be done for the night. We had to wait for a long time, which was okay because we could sit in the bar and enjoy a good cocktail. We did notice that there were several tables available. They sat us at 2 separate tables even though there would have been plenty of room to put us together. We had to go ask someone to get our server to take our order. Our table asked for two separate tickets, that didn't happen they combined our table w the other tables bill. I got the wrong drink and told server, she never brought a new one. No effort to correct. My husband finished his drink, she took his glass and never offered him another drink. It was just a strange evening. Food ordered was the meatloaf and chicken. Both were good but comments were that they were salty. The blue cheese kale appetizer was very good to end on a positive note read more

Worst bartender ever! First ones in the bar, last to get served. Skipped over many times.

Extremely dirty restaurant, but worse customer service. Terrible management. When we talked to the male manager about our experience, he just shrugged his shoulders and said "sorry, have a nice day." Why even bother with this place when there are so many great downtown Omaha restaurants! read more

extensive wine list. I chose a vegetarian meal, which was not the best way to highlight Monarch. the beet salad with spring pea (sans the lardo) was phenomenal. The ghislaine was light mousse consistency with a tart raspberry finish. I would have liked the roasted cauliflower and thinly sliced trumpet mushrooms more if it wasn't so salty. I understand there is a need to balance flavor, but the sea salt overpowered the delicate flavor. read more

Such a great location and so convenient if you are heading to a show at the Orpheum. Unfortunately the service is next to the worst in the entire city. Took 20 minutes to get a drink and an hour and 45 minutes to get our food. The server was one of the worst I have ever encountered. Rude and inconsiderate. One word answers to questions about the menu. Think twice about spending you time or money at this place. read more

Monarch Prime & Bar is superb. The menu boasts a plethora of pleasant surprises. A treat to the senses! The delectable drinks, food and stunning interior, alone, are reason enough to want to lounge there all day and night. The service, however, is what really holds you in its graces. All of the staff- from the bar to the dining room-are so accommodating and attentive. Brian Heese, the beverage program manager, is especially welcoming. He is quite knowledgable about every aspect of the operation, which is incredibly comforting and helpful to patrons. His mindful care of customers and warmth won me over as a patron and I'm sure will win over many more to come. Do yourself a favor and check out Monarch. You are sure to become a regular. ;) read more

Came for brunch on a Sunday morning. It was very quiet and we were one of two tables. Great drip coffee from Rally and free refills. Had the Nebraskan which from the description I expected to be the standard eggs, toast, bacon plate. Instead we were served an open faced sandwich on thick focaccia toast topped with a folded omelette, super thick house bacon and a chili mayo. Pretty tasty overall but the omelette was too salty. The house bacon was delicious, as was the focaccia. The salad on the side was refreshing with small segments of grapefruit. It would have been better lightly dressed but instead it was over saturated with dressing. The chilaquiles were awesome. Portion sizes were small and I would have still been hungry if I hadn't had some of the chilaquiles. Good if you want a fancy brunch with cute silverware and dishes. Unfortunately not many vegan options. Convenient if you're a hotel guest or watching a show at the Orpheum. read more

One of, if not THE best meal we have every had. We came in for dinner before a show at the orpheum. Heads up, plan on a 2 hour dinner experience. We started with cocktails and we each had multiple through dinner, all were very very good, and well poured. We got the buffalo carpaccio for a starter. It was delicious and light, a great start. We then had the tomahawk steak. Now, the price tag and the size may seem intimidating. Please consider it! This was one of the best pieces of meat we have ever had. We shared it and it was a perfect amount of meat. We also got the fingerlings and broccolini, both were quite excellent. We finished with the brownie tart, which was also divine. I can't recommend our meal more strongly. The bar and serving staff are superb. This is a wonderful dining experience that everyone deserves! read more

I live right next door to Monarch and was excited to try it. The atmosphere is perfect and my drink was delicious as well...however, one of the bartenders with slicked dark brown hair was not only making condescending remarks to other co-workers right in front of my friend and I, but I was never greeted, asked what i wanted to drink (I had to ask for a drink), and when my drink was empty never asked if I wanted another (which I would have but the service was so poor that we decided to go to another bar), additionally, I had to ask for my check. I don't know if this guy was having a bad night but this was a terrible first impression. read more
